+Chad Bilsbury When rounding the leeward mark it's important to come in wide to the mark and exit tight to make sure boats rounding behind you can't exit to windward of you. This also gives you a pump when you head up. It's ok to leave the gap on entering the mark because other boats can't go in there under Rule 18 - if they don't have an overlap on you when you enter the 3 boat-length circle around the mark, they can't take your gap.
