The Luxembourg Defense Directorate has ordered 80 Eagle V 4X4 vehicles from GDELS (General Dynamics European Land Systems) on 25 October 2022 last year.
GDELS is now starting to produce the Eagle V armored vehicle which will be used by the Luxembourg Armed Forces.
Regarding the specifications of the Eagle V , this versatile vehicle weighs 10 tons, can accommodate four-five people, and cargo loads in the back.
The Eagle V ordered by Luxembourg is prepared to carry large quantities of communications equipment, including the CIS Scorpion designed by France to interoperate with the French and Belgian militaries.
Then the CONTACT communication system and the EW radio suppression/barrage system , as well as the deFNder remote control weapon station (RCWS).
The integration of Scorpion CIS, CONTACT communication systems, Barrage EW and DEFNder RCWS will ensure that the Luxembourg Army can operate more effectively and more securely and share information promptly.
The procurement includes not only the acquisition of vehicles but also logistical support and updating of communication systems needed to maximize vehicle operations and optimize fleet availability.
The presence of Eagle V is to replace the Humvee and PRV ( Protected Reconnaissance Vehicle ) which are currently used by the Luxembourg Army and are considered obsolete.
