Perfect tutorial. When I got the drain pump out, I disconnected the motor from the manifold and found the impeller shaft was broken. So although I couldn’t fix it without buying a new part. I’m pretty confident this is the fix, which is 90% of the battle. Thanks for the video!

Wow, following your video I was able to get to the root of the issue. Motor blade sheared off the motor. Found replacement on amazon for $59.53. Thank your for your instruction video! In my LG I have had to replace the drain pump 7 times. You have to remove the top, control panel, the front including the door and gasket to get to the pump. GE seems to be easier

Great video. My GE front load washer is about 1 month old. It already has pump issues. It sounds like it's chewing on nails when the machine is draining. It intermittently fails to drain. Of course it's under warranty. I put a call in for service. The tech says the grinding noise is "not that bad". Then he runs a rinse cycle and concludes the pump is ok because it drains the water. The second tech (a week later) says it does need a water pump. He said he will get a new pump on order. That's the last we ever heard. I'm sure not impressed with GE "service".

GE wcvh6800j1ww : I bought a used unit the owner said pump was the only thing not working. Construction is similar to this for the pump. Nothing in the filter. Took the motor out and found an Oring that has locked the motor fins. To get to the fins, unscrew the 3 screws holding the cone/cover over the fins. (No idea where the gray Oring came from hopefully not from the unit.) To test the motor I cut up a spare computer power cord, crimped and ran the motor to check that it worked since it runs on 120V AC. This fixed the unit. *I've found where the gray rubber piece came from, it broke off from the door boot gasket.

GE Front Load Washer 4-5 years old. Model GFWH2400L0WW Can you more clearly explain exactly what the machine was doing before you cleaned out your drain pump? "Not draining" is not quite clear. Ours is stopping with 20-mins remaining in the cycle, the door locks and the pause button blinks. We can't open the door (it's locked), no button works at that point. The power button is lit and the pause button blinks. We can change cycles or complete the load of wash. I have unplugged the machine for 10 minutes, then held the power button in and plugged it back in (and held in the button for a few seconds longer) and it has worked a few times and the load completes. It will go for a week or two with no problems and then 7-8 loads in a row will have to be "reset" to complete the load. VERY frustrating. Could it need a pump? Could it need a new circuit board? Any suggestions?

How do you know when the washer drain pump is failing? Mine will go on in the middle of the night and you can hear the drain pump go on. The unit itself will be turned off, but out of nowhere the drain pump will start draining. I also started having instances where the washer will not spin. The unit just barely hit 2 years. A factory technician came out before the two years were up and stated the unit is not broken and to just unplug the unit if it goes on in the middle of the night or middle of the day and starts to drain.

Would this also cause for the washer not to spin? I cleaned out the filter and check the belt on the back but they both seem to be fine. When I start a cycle the washer will pour water then I can hear the motors trying to start then the washer goes on pause and the door sounds like it unlocks. Please help! 🙏🏼

Step one take hoses off 9 out of 10 times the lines are clogged ! Took me 10 minutes to fix mine...
