Gealdýr

4 жыл бұрын

Jötunheimr (Old Norse for ‘World of the Giants’) is one of the Nine Worlds which are held in the branches and roots of the world tree Yggdrasill. Jötunheimr is also known as Útgarðr (Old Norse for ‘beyond the fence’) meaning that Útgarðr is chaotic and wild. In the Poetic Eddas Jötunheimr is described as a world with deep, dark forests with mountain peaks where winter never eases its grip.

Is it just me who shivers and cries when listening to Gealdýr, Danheim, Wardruna, Eivør, Garmarna, Jonna Jinton, Heilung, Skáld and Jon Henrik Fjällgren? I feel immense waves of homesickness even though I'm Swedish and live in Sweden. I wish I could go back in time to meet my forefathers. Be they slaves or free men, I would love to dine with them.

@@CarmenBolton Greetings from Czechia. I meant that when winter comes and snow falls and virtually everything in nature falls to sleep with it, it creates a place and time of peace and kind of tranquility, where I don't need to think or ask anything, I simply am. We are drawn to specific music because it is a fragmented memory deeply rooted in our energetic DNA that we keep bringing with us through countless lifetimes. It is a distant memory that deeply impacted your soul...it cannot be explained because it is on a level of your own personal atoms which experienced something profound at one point during your overall existence.

Norse tradition is linked with English history. The Vikings invaded us and settled in a wide area of the UK. Even Edinburgh is originally called Odinburg. York was established by them. They had a big impact on British culture. You probably have Norse blood running through your veins I know I do. Anyone with son at the end of their name like Johnson or Watson or Stevenson are descendants of vikings that kept their viking name in tact.

This song is the most incredible ode to Jötunheimr, it brings tears to my eyes 🥲 I honestly believe this song (among so many others like it) are gifts from the old world... from the ancients, our ancestors. Many songs were lost through time but I feel they are being given back to reconnect us all to what once was, what so many of us are longing for... to be close to that which calls to us and what gives us a feeling of home. I'm grateful for those who bring us the songs. Thank you Gealdýr! 💗

Hi Gealdýr, my name is Yevgeniy (Eugene). I was born and raised in Ukraine, north part of it, but i know from my grandparents, that my family have Scandinavian ancestors (Father's line, which more dominated from Russia). I don't know much about my Scandinavian ancestors, roots and etc. which kinda sad i think..but every time when I listening any types of this kind songs, i don't know what is going on..I have heavy breath, my heart become yearning, i don't feel sad, it's similar, but i can't describe this, elusive feeling, you know. I'm very skeptical person i don't believe of any gods, religions and i'm not following any confessions. However i love history and early medieval periods..But sometime I catch myself thinking, maybe its mean something for me? Maybe "roots, blood, calling through this song?) I still can't find answers.. But anyway, Thank You for your work! Best Regards Eugene
