Did you notice that unlike many metal guitarists, though I'm sure there are more like him, he only tours with three: Main, backup, and warm-up backstage. And Marko is little different...two and the Beast, if I saw correctly. Totally non-pretentious, and all about the music. Nice.

James LeMaire The reason is that Emppu actually plays just one tuning live. Moreover he needs no 7 string guitars and he did not use a lot of diffrent sounds. So he has basicly the same sound for rythm and solo on every song, why should he carry more guitars arround 🤷‍♂️ Would be nice to hear him with more diffrent sounds, leads and arrangements.

If anyone's still wondering, the profile is available on Kemper Rig Exchange. It's made by Mikko Karmila. I'm using a regular ESP Horizon from 2008 with Bare Knuckle Aftermath set. I'd say that the tone is 90% identical, given the different pickups and wood (mahogany with maple top vs alder).

Hi! Can somebody clarify, how they use Click Track. It seems that they have click track only for parts with symphonic orchestra, but not for full track. how do they synchronize between those parts?
@R2ROrancid
@R2ROrancid 8 жыл бұрын
I believe that the click track is played at the same time that the orchestra tracks are played. Obviously they're rooted to different outputs. Say that the orchestra + stuff are Outputs 1&2, and click tracks 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 (Based on the number of members) Each of those outputs must have plugged in the inputs of the In Ear system and then it goes to the receiver in each musician. That way, they know exactly when to play, hit or strum, without having Kai Hahto marking every measure or beat. Maybe they mute click parts for all musicians except the drummer. Which by the way, if you saw the Drum part, Kai has his own mixer where he can control the volume of the click, backing track, monitoring and the rest of the band for his own use. I'm a musician who has endured small and medium venues, and I think this is the most logical scenario, but if any pro out there knows better, hit me up :D Cheers!

It's for saving midi tracks and loading program data and the like. The Karma came out around 2001 I wanna say. It wasn't until a year later KORG replaced the floppy with an optical drive capable of burning audio, which was then replaced by memory card reader and writer soon afterward.

Anast Av His Esp‘s are made out of alder. The neck is three piece maple neckthru, the freboard is ebony. The neckprofile is a bit different from the standard horizon 2. The pickups are seymour duncan tb 5 custom, an hotrail and an sh2-n. On the efmb record he used an ruokangas custom as well as on the sunbound record. It features spanish zedar as body wood and neck too i think 🤔 I am not sure about that i got the specklist I have to look it up.

If you want the same guitar Emppu uses, look for ESP EV-1 (the letters EV come from Emppu Vuorinen). I think those are not manufactured anymore so you're basically looking for collector's item and prices are quite high. However, the *sound* that you hear in the shows is EV-1 fed to custom Kemper Profiler configuration which I think is not available publicly because it was created for Nightwish as explained in this video. Mladen Molnar wrote above that Kemper Rig Exchange might have something made by Mikko Karmila so maybe search there?

.11-56 Is good for standard D and a Floyd can handle it really well
@Winterhe4rt
@Winterhe4rt 8 жыл бұрын
I think people tend to go to extremes when tuning down a bit. .56 for a low D string is insanely tense and certainly not comfortable. I play standard D with .11 - .49 and its just perfect. It is the aquivalent to a normal set of strings with E Tuning. In the end its all a matter of taste but playing a .10 on standard D is certainly flobby. We all tested it, we all know it. (On the other spectrum people advise to play .68 or stuff like that just for a drop C or Drop B Tuning. Its just as insane xD)
@empspxce
@empspxce 8 жыл бұрын
Winterhe4rt I use a .56 for D and it feels great, sometimes i use .13-.64 for drop A and i tune up to drop C with it, feels a bit tense but comfortable enough to not complain
@Winterhe4rt
@Winterhe4rt 8 жыл бұрын
Obviously there are 2 ways to go: 1. Just calculate the string tension and compare it to the tension you use on Standard E Tuning. (You could also use tables or calculators from google for it to make it easier. daddrio offers great help on this matter on their website) This way the D .49 is nearly exactly the same tension as a .42 on E tuning. or 2.: you go just by feeling. A .56 on a longer scale might feel good for some, but just by the calculated numbers (eg. the accumulated tension in kg) it IS insanely tight and certainly not how most would actually like to play their guitar.

Ok, so Warwick and Framus are the same company or owned by the same company?

+higler420 I don't know if they started that way, but they are the same company as of now. They share a website. Warwick is all bass guitars and bass amps, and Framus is all guitars and guitar amps.

+Stonebreaker6088 Man, it happens in every industry, huh? Seems like there are hundreds of brands, but all owned by the same 5-10 companies. Shit, Korg owns how much, Fender/Jackson and same with BOSS/Randall... and of course like any other industry, if a new brand/company does emerge they get bought up(X2 wireless bought by Line 6, etc..)

higler420 I used to work for a music store and we were always being told about companies getting bought out. Between FMIC, US Music Corp and BOSS/Roland it's ridiculous. Hell, one conglomerate owns both Schecter and ESP. And you can always bet that if any kind of accessories companies that go out of business will get bought up by Dunlop. It's just how the business works. It's when they start screwing over dealers and customers(I'm looking at you FMIC) that I start thinking about not buying them. Kinda why I'm liking Carvin/Kiesel's vibe lately

@@CloroxJelloShot , A bit later but I still wanted to add a bit. To me same owner isn't automatically bad but problems start when they decide not allow competition between different brands that they own. Competition between brands is the thing that drives innovation forward. Pretty much like patents are bad for innovation (like many examples from history show) but they are good for big companies owning them who have money to lobby policy makers. Of course monopoly can also screw people with pricing and retail agreements etc.

@@suokkos I have a good friend who has a shop still. He use to be the Fender dealer. He had to let them go because they wanted some outlandish buy in for a shop his size. He had supported them for years, and they changed the deal with no room for movement. FMIC and Gibson are the only ones that can get away with it. Stores don't challenge it because of the names attached. He's now an ESP dealer, and having worked at the previous dealer in the area I know he is getting treated well by them. They are super easy to work with and I honestly don't think I'll buy any other guitar. Their product from top to bottom is always quality.

Soul Well, starting with the obvious, microphone. There are vast amounts of different types of microphones for live use, and it would have been nice to have it included in this. If you're not a musician, you might not realise that the difference between mics is huge. Then the more non-obvious stuff, a.k.a vocal processing. A singers´ voice always goes through at least one device for compression, de-essing, attack-release settings and reverb etc normal stuff. The more helpless singers (not Floor) also need more processing like autotune. In some cases they use for flavor all kinds of effects, which might be on the same device or an another. Since musicians usually own their own gear (singers too buy their own gear and have to ponder about the choices) it would've been nice to see how the great voice of Nightwish is handled :)

Soul I remember when I started to sing with a band, quite a culture shock in how much has to be done and considered to get the singer to cut through the band live and sound good from the tech side. I was used to singing with karaoke backings before that and it was so simple back then, just up the volume or gain and voilá. It is definately worth the effort to learn about the basics of sound mixing and live sounds, if you're going to sing with a live band. A lotta sleepless nights for having sounded like crap on your first performance live let me tell you :D Would've been avoided had I done homework first.

@@derrickparran hey I think I finally found the guitar tone, I use amplitube 5, a mesa rectifier as amp and a metal zone as preamp, all with a compressor and a basic noise gate. for eq I put B6 H6 but for mids depends on the guitar, for my schecter demon 6 fr with stock active pickups y use M4.5. just play with the eq but that is what I use and a little spring reverb for the romanticide solo. still trying but that is what I god for now. Jukka sits lower, same amount of drums, bigger cymbals, setup for power and big from the shoulder arms playing. Kai sits higher and is a wristy type speed player and maybe the gong drum makes his setup bigger in number.
