Hey man, check the Aoka CMP163L it’s a mini tripod that extends to 70cm and weighs less than 500gr. It’s sturdy enough to hold 2.5-4Kg of gear according to the manufacturers as It also sells under the brand Cullmann Carvao 816TC or Oben CTT-1000 :)

@@pieonthetrail You’re welcome, Cullmann and Aoka can be purchased via Amazon, at least in Germany. The Oben US mainly ;)

Hey, I hiked the JMT this year from July 8th to July 24th from Happy isles to Whitney portal, and I think that the microspikes and the ice axe won't be really necessary unless you will be up at the passes very early (higher than 12000ft before 9am). I ended up buying microspikes in Mammoth after speaking to a lot of Nobo PCT hikers, and they said it would be a good idea to have them, but I ended up only using them for 15minutes going down on Muir pass, just because I had them, and then I put them back in the pack... I was on the passes usually between 10am and noon, so the snow was pretty soft by then. And that was a month ago, so by now, I definitely wouldn't bring them, especially if you will be walking trail and where there are already footsteps from other hikers. And on this trip I also tried using another small tripod from Pedco - The Ultrapod grip, its pretty light. I am not UL as well, I also brought about 4lbs of camera gear, (and a solar panel which I have now returned). You could see what I brought here lighterpack.com/r/eqsolw

@@pieonthetrail Yeah, smart choice to ditch them :) and at least you had them at the start and then could evaluate whether to carry them or not

Great video, Pie! ! Im sold on my aluminum adjustable poles even though they’re definitely heavier. I got mine after I fell on my carbon poles and snapped one right in half and didn’t have the budget to replace the broken one!

sounds like an awesome trip bro, loved the High Sierra section on the PCT. Stoked your filming the trip because i cant wait to see what you get up to. Diggin the fact your packing a harmonica to sing the trail side blues! How do you find the EE bivi? I rock a katabatic which is awesome but the EE seems to have a bit more space for bug free happiness..happy trails bro
