Recently got an H&R handi rifle sb2 frame and plan on getting a few shotgun barrels as well as a .30-30 and .45-70gvt. Love a single shot for hunting

@@OutdoorsJourneyman no thanks necessary friend. Keep up the content. I’ve slowly migrated to back pack hunting from being interested in and practicing bushcraft for over a decade so backpacking and backpack camping is still new to me. Definitely got a subscription from me!

Subscribed young fella. An old retired NZFS culler here, now in Queensland. I enjoyed your video a great deal. Oh to have had some of that stuff back in the early 60's!! Never mind. We do what we do. Very interested in your choice of firearm too. I'm a bit of a traditionalist as well, still using a 1970 Carl Gustaf .270, with a X5i Swarovski, the rifle blued and A grade stock. Still looks like new because like you, I take care of it. Good luck and stay safe out there young fella.....

Hey Mate great to see a Vid like this with all your gear etc. With age brings wisdom ( I hope! ) so weight is a big consideration when packing in somewhere. Well done Bro !!

Cheers mate, haha yeah I remember my first trip in with a 30+ kg pack!! I was much younger and eager back then… I’m trying to cut down on the weight, it does make it easier on the hill 😎

I keep saving tarp… it’s a fly 😜

What kind of fly? Looks lighter than the Tarp I've been dragging around.

When you setup a tarp and its not touching the ground you are flying a tarp. when you setup a tarp shelter and its touching the ground you are pitching a tarp, same as pitching a tent. its still always a tarp, the setup determines whether your flying or pitching it.👍

You do a good video bro. I have pretty similar pack contents. I'm going to get me one of those spoons though! I hate getting my dinner all over my fingers while stirring it all up.

Good video Sir, Just one question, how do you pack the game out with your present system?
@OutdoorsJourneyman
@OutdoorsJourneyman 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, I usually hang the game and on the final morning bone it out and just carry the meat. It is then packaged up into plastic bags and it loaded into the pack. Sika deer are fairly small and break down considerably and can easily be packed out using this method. Cheers 😎

Hi how much water do you take? Or do you just boil river water to drink and cook?
@OutdoorsJourneyman
@OutdoorsJourneyman 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I generally don’t take any water with me, I just get it straight out of the creeks. The water in New Zealand’s back country is usually pretty good, so I don’t actually boil the water for drinking or cooking… The water comes off the mountains and is crystal clear and is beautiful to drink 😎

@OutdoorsJourneyman 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, yeah 16kg is pretty good for me 👍 For my winter hunts I’m a lot heavier, up around the 22-24kg mark… Damn you take in a Dutch Oven! That loaf of bread would be oh so nice 😎
