This video is so informative and insightful. I feel like it's really honest and upfront in terms of travel photography, because it isn't someone with a couple shoulder bags that won't be able to stand up to the elements. I was beginning to feel like no photographers used Black Diamond, Patagonia, Fjallraven, etc. products when in the field. I was confused as to how they traveled in the back country and transported gear that could withstand the elements without using gear that could withstand the elements haha. Chris, you may already know this, but your presence on social media is what I feel brings you most of your audience. If it weren't for Instagram, I probably wouldn't have discovered your work for some time. Your landscape work and drive is inspiring!

That was the most epic gear review i've seen in a while. Going to rewatch with a pen and paper to dial some things in, especially all the charging tips. But what interests me most is that you've stepped away from fstop and found a different type of "ICU" System. Up until now i've just considered Fstop packs to be the all around best but after literally destroying 3 Loka UL's on multi day treks and with my other fstop packs just too heavy and too many pockets. Getting sick of the back flap, i'm going to really consider a pack like that with more of a shell design. As for the new "ICU" bags you are using they look awesome! I think you called them Crumpler pouches. Reminds me of that big chalk bag you had for your camera but these are next level! Will be looking into that too. Its amazing how much changes in a year, everything's always getting dialed in! Thanks, Blake

Perfect video. Exactly what I was looking for. Love your work and the organisational system you use to support it and keep it easy and efficient. Once again, I'll be making quite a few purchases following your advise. Thank you! One question for you if you have time. Does your 70-400mm Sony G SMM II zoom lens have Continuous AF functionality with the A6000 and A-frame adapter. I can only use the single shot AF which is too slow when it comes to shooting action. Thanks again.

Thank you for the incredibly insightful and informative video! I'm a landscape / travel photographer and love your work! After shooting Canon for the first 28 years of life , I've taken the full plunge into Sony. I primarily shoot with the 16-35 on an A7R2 and RRS TQ-14, and also have a 70-200. In the next year I'm aiming to shoot the Northern lights and/or the milky way; I've looked at the Rokinon 14@2.8 and the sony 20mm +fisheye combo you mentioned. Which would you suggest?
@ChrisburkardStudio

+Mike Simon both are phenomenal options. It's really up to preference, but I shoot with a F/2 28mm with the fisheye which makes it like a 16mm at an F/3

Dear Chris, I love your work and you are a true inspiration! I want to buy a starting package to start photographing more professionally. I will mostly shoot landscapes, but also my toddler son (who does not sit still) and turn these into fine art. I was thinking about the sony a6300 and sony ilce 7rm2, and was wondering if you could advice me (considering they have such different fps and ofcourse the megapixel difference). Plus which lens to buy, as I only have one shot at buying this and it should also keep up for the next 2/3 years. & did you ever take a look at he samsung nx1 camera? As its fairly similar to the a6300.
@ChrisburkardStudio
@ChrisburkardStudio 8 жыл бұрын
+Shan Brunel I would go with the a6300 its a really amazing camera, its also insanely fast so your son who doesn't sit fast won't be able to get away from the shutter :) the 24-70mm is probably perfect for your needs, wide enough for landscapes, but can zoom to catch your son.

The a6300 is definitely a super cool camera! Perfect for any lightweight adventures that you might go on but if you plan to be taking photos in lowlight or at night it might struggle a little on that end. The A7S or A7SII are definitely my go to cameras. Perfect for shooting landscapes, stars, and Northern Lights. Either way they are all super great cameras and I've loved using them over the years. Hope this helps! Cheers, Chris B

Hi, would the sony a6000 be a good camera for a beginner? I want to start out on photography but i'm unsure of whether to get this camera or a dslr camera instead. Do you have any advice? Thank you!

Thank you for the response. One last question if you can help. I've been looking into sony A LOT and I really want to invest in one. The a7rii is my choice hut I don't think I can afford it. I was thinking the a7ii with the lens we just talked about. Would it be better to wait and get the a7rii?
@ChrisburkardStudio
@ChrisburkardStudio 8 жыл бұрын
+Joel Hopins It really depends on what you are shooting. The a7S ii is great for low-light. It only shoots at 12mp though. The a7R ii shoots at 42 mp...

+Arvin Harripaul I have not actually! But typically speaking, lenses with broader focal lengths tend to be less sharp.

Chris, I was just re-watching the video and I was wondering what size is that MacBook Air? 11" or 13"... Just trying to figure out how it all fits into the Daylight bag.

Chris- Do you have any camera recommendations for a starter/ rookie. I'm taking a trip to Alaska soon and I love photography so I am looking for a good camera that is not to expensive. I have been taking picture with my phone but I know that will not cut it for the locations I am heading to. Thanks for your time!

+Trevor Reeves I'd definitely look at the a6000 or the new 6300 that Sony just released! I love mine and it's fairly cheap!

I have a question in terms of camera gear be maybe it's personal preference. So I have a Sony A7R with a Canon EF 24-105 attached with a Metabones adapter. Do you think it would be better to just start getting Sony Lenses? I really like the Sony cameras. (Not sure if adapting affects images) I have a hard time finding the right settings for the A7R. Do you shoot for JPEG + RAW or Extra Fine or something else? Nice video! Apologies for the plethora of questions!

+Christopher La Grange Only shoot RAW. As far as glass goes, I stick with Sony. A main reason why I went mirror less was because of the weight. I find it counter productive to add more weight to the system by adding an adaptor and heavy lens. But that is my preference...

+oiramfootball I like the detail that you can get with the A7r compared to the A7ii, it will help a lot with landscapes to have the extra megapixels.
