Mark my words, the HD-25's are the bee's knees. Since 2006, they have been my primary headphones. Their durability is absolutely astonishing. They have been through hell, lugged around my DJ bag, dropped, countless times. I've even played in outdoor rainy gigs. They still work like the day I opened them. The only time they've ever needed attention is when I replaced the padding, which cost next to nothing. They are so practical. Especially for long gigs. They're light and comfortable and will take a beating. They sound great. If it's bass you're looking for. Perhaps these are not for you. It's more geared sound accuracy and isolation. These are glorious headphones. Probably one of the best investments I've made in my life. Mojaxx, thanks for these vids, I love watching them. Peace

I need something with a balanced sound for live DJing in loud environments. Basically so I can cue in a new track while playing bass house or trap and be able to hear the lows (but also the highs). Would the 25's be sufficient in such environments even though the bass isn't primary? Thanks heaps man

@guido69x3 жыл бұрын
@@alfiekennedy1657 HD 25´s are the best you can get for that price range and they can even be better than other more expensive ones. They isolate completely all the exterior noise (they were made for COMCORDE passengers so they couldnt hear the jet engines). Yes you can use one ear on andd other off,they rotate up and down on one of the sides.
@andrewford802 жыл бұрын
@@alfiekennedy1657 There is an inherent design flaw with the HD25s in that the tiny spring within the capsule gets weak or damaged over time and the connection between it, and the removable cable becomes less solid. This results in drop outs. Custom cans use to have a replacement spring, which is better, and has solved the problem for many, however, it's discontinued. Other than this problem, they're great, but this is a huge problem with the headphones. I was able to fix mine while the spare springs were available. Bear in mind, the replacement of these springs is a fiddly job as well, and can damage the capsule beyond repair. Plenty of videos on youtube about it.

The only headphones that gave it a run for me was the David Guetta Mixr headphones but so far, i advocate to save your ears HD25s for radio, big room, open air festivals and etc…I’ve been using the same headphones for over 8 years and didn’t have a problem with them whatsoever. I owned a pair of TMA-1 first generation (bought them in 2012 in NYC) and they did snap in half after about 3 years of light use. Wrote to AIAIAI and they told me they did not ship to Brazil (I live in Sao Paulo), plus the TMA-1 were being replaced by a newly designed TMA-2 and they no longer carried the head band replacement. So I now own a brand new TMA-2 and a used TMA-1 with a broken headband. I love them and they fit and sound great to me. Hopefully I'll be able to buy a used headband from Ebay perhaps... I wish they (Manufacturer) could sell me just the head band for the TMA-1.

I've had 2 pairs of the Technics RP-DJ1210 and for me, they're still the best. I don't like my headphones to be too light weight and flexible as it somehow makes them feel cheap. The rock steady feel of the Technics gives me confidence they can be battered around and still work fine. They sound amazing too and have a real punch on the bass and although I've used the HD25's and can't really fault them, for my personal taste it has the be the Technics RP-DJ1210

Completely agree with the TMA-1's!! Really love the comfort and fit, but the sound quality really is just a bit "off" and doesn't cut it. I'm hoping they re-do it with better upper mids. I feel like they've got a good product that just needs to be tweaked a bit to be great.

I love the Allen and Heath XONE! I think the sound quality is everything a DJ needs. it hugs to head comfortably and also isolates the sound from the speakers if they're close to you or super loud. very durable. the highs and lows the mids everything is perfect too me and other DJ friends that I've let use them. but everyone looks for something different in sound quality. some DJs life beats but I can't understand why you're good for a walk mens and mp3 players. they concentrate on heavy bass and I don't like that. I like to hear some highs and lows blended nicely together. but that's just me. good luck with whatever you use my turntable brothers and sisters :-)

I got in on the first run of AIAIAI TMA-1s and the band snapped after about 8 months of heavy use. I replaced them with V-Modas and then got the beatport edition TMA-1s because that green color in the cable matches my glasses and my jordans. When listening to music at home I tend to use the HD 280 pro headphones connected to a Fiio K7 Bluetooth DAC Amp and they also sound amazing, the hd 25’s have a better accuracy and as if I can hear more in the music, the HD 280 Pro’s have better bass extension and are a little bit warmer to my ears, both are amazing headphones and I wouldn’t be able to live without them

You know why they tell you to "break it in", the Aiaiais? It's a trick! They have a very coloured sound, but it's not so bad that you wouldn't get used to it eventually, and then you'll hate everything else. They know most people will be eager to listen to the headphones as they're "breaking in" rather than just let them sit. So they basically trick you into adjusting your perception. The actual driver changes that happen within hours at low volume are very, very minor. The "air chamber" explanation is wrong. The volume between the driver and your eardrum defines the presence resonance (around 4 KHz), not the bass one. The bass resonance is defined almost exclusively by the returning force and electromagnetic properties of the driver and the volume behind the driver.

Try the Urbanears Zinken! They are the absolute confidential tip at the moment in my opinion. A real surprise in terms of sound quality and price and also some nice ideas like the "turncable".
@SianaGearz9 жыл бұрын
I like Zinken and maybe it could have been part of this roundup! It's a nice, moderately sturdy, very comfortable headphone with decent isolation. Sonically, it's more neutral than Aiaiais, but duller sounding than ANY of these. It won't turn any music into torture unlike Aiaiais sometimes do, but the midbass punch is missing (only salvaged by the sharp sub-bass emphasis) and they have a de-emphasis in the sibilance and the hi-hat, which means many DJs will be missing their important sonic cues. This makes it a decent relaxed listening headphone though, you can listen to it all day and the hearing won't be fatigued, especially if you de-emphasize sub-bass a bit. Another advantage is that vinyl distortion from heavy tracking won't bite quite as sharply. If many DJ headphones are too punchy for some, the HD25 is too neutral to others, Zinken is neither here nor there, it's neither punchy nor neutral, but at least it's polite about it. The cable is a piece of fragile garbage, but you can get replacements - in a pinch, you can just use any 3.5 to 6.3 cable. I break about one cable every month when i use the stock ones. The coating is also terrible, but given that it's an urban fashion brand, it's supposed to look worn from the onset. Finally, i'm not sure it measures up to these. Maybe if you consider Aiaiais overpriced, then Zinken is an alternative, but it's not the HD25 or Pioneer C70 league. If you chose a 100€ headphone, what are you gonna get? Zinken wins against a number of leading brands, HDJ-500 got nothing on it. Wanna spend 200€? I think you might end up running cheaper in the long run and better with C70, HD25 or DT1350.

I've had hd25s for about 6 months now. N I'd honestly say yes 100xs over. Bought them for dj use, been using then for everything from riding my bicycle to taking on flights. They sound fantastic, their super light and portable, and they look decent enough to not feel like a knob rolling about town. The only thing I will say is that if your bringing them everywhere, your gonna destroy the stock cable. Had mine for six months and the right side of the cable is already going, and sennheiser doesnt cover mechanical damage in their warranty. Kind of annoying but you can pick up third party cables that supposedly last a good bit longer for less then 20 quid so it's kind of a non issue

Thank u so much mate :) I ve done so, but i´m almost 100% it´s the cable. I let the cable extended 4 1 or 2 hours and now it works perfectly again. I´m gonna be really careful with these on the future.

+DJ TechTools They are modular but the individual modules are crazy expensive (at least here in the UK). You almost may as well buy a new set

I've gone through 2 headbands on the AIAIAI's... those headbands are garbage :( Though I did like how they sounded. I ended up buying vmoda m100's instead so I could get the metal headband.

How does the Pioneer C70's compare to the new Sennheiser HD7, HD8 line?
@gullyman7779 жыл бұрын
from a review i read a while back the HD7/8 don't cut it in terms for the price and what you get and a lot of people have said that the pioneers are closest they've used to the hd25s

PopsiclesInMyCellar AT-M50x are solid for the price.
@gullyman7779 жыл бұрын
PopsiclesInMyCellar definitely the AT-M50 or x- but thats more for mixing you get a decent mix on them for mastering you can't do it in headphones, best you send a track off for mastering, even if you had a good pair monitors, you need a range of monitors to master a track

On whom, the HD25? Yes, you can, but you won't get a professional result. In fact, you probably won't get it perfect with M50 either, so just relax and have fun, let somebody with better gear and more trained ears review your work, and if they tell you range X is too hot or too soft, you fix it! I think Wolf is wrong, HD-25 has its issues but i think they are of little practical regard towards mastering. I mean it has an untamed 10k peak, big fucking deal, you want to be careful with that area anyway. M50 has one too, and it's even more painful there. Let's see some authoritative sources on your choices, shall we. Since the Harmann preferred listening curve came out, you can mentally raise the 3-6k area by about 6db. (www.innerfidelity.com/content/harman-researchers-make-important-headway-understanding-headphone-response) Wolf's preferred HDJ-2000: www.innerfidelity.com/images/PioneerHDJ2000.pdf The 10k peak is recessed, which makes for a more relaxed listening experience, but it's not what a mastering headphone sounds like. The presence area is a bit on the weird side, it's not too hot but it's resonant. Here comes the M50: www.innerfidelity.com/images/AudioTechnicaATHM50.pdf This is near examplary, apart from a valley at 6k and 10k being quite sharp. They also got better with time: www.innerfidelity.com/images/AudioTechnicaATHM50B2012.pdf Or maybe just bassier instead of better: www.innerfidelity.com/images/AudioTechnicaATHM50x.pdf This is the HD25: www.innerfidelity.com/images/SennheiserHD251IIB2012.pdf Look, if you can tell a great deal of difference compared to M50, be my guest. Sure it's different, and mostly for the worse (see that 6k valley), but not by much. Aiaiai TMA-1 with DJ pads: www.innerfidelity.com/images/AiaiaiTMA1.pdf And with Studio pads: www.innerfidelity.com/images/AiaiaiTMA1Studio.pdf It will sound fine, but if you do it by ear, you will master the presence (4k) up to 10db too hot. Also introduces the danger of mastering 10k too hot, and people listening with headphones above or below MIGHT feel a mild urge to murder you. But does it have to be one headphone for everything? 30$ gives you a mastering headphone ruthless in revealing mistakes, though not the ultimate in listening pleasure. www.innerfidelity.com/images/SuperluxHD681.pdf
