I added lead to the throat and it gave me so much more control. My favorite paddle I've ever owned

I been using the power elongated. I tried to dial it in and hated it at first. After use and adjusting lead tape to the throat area, feels much better

Took me awhile to dial in my game with the PPE. Power is ridiculous, also very poppy, dinking is pretty good. Reset is the skill set you will need to relearn, both from the NVZ and transition zone. I popped up almost every attempt for weeks, and still do on occasion. My favorite paddle right now.

After a couple weeks, all phases of my game is better. Prior paddle was Engage MX 6.0

It just takes time to adjust to , I have the PPE, and just ordered the PCF.

I just got sponsored by Gearbox so I was excited to get my PPE. It’s been about a month now and honestly, dialing in was such an anxiety driven mess for me. I came from tennis and utilized the ace diamond, Selkirk 006, and lastly the bread and butter filth (in that order for shoulder issues). I loved my long swings because i felt like a hero. So switching to the PPE, I feel I’m cheating and dislike the efficiency if that makes any sense? My Pro control comes in next week and I hope that I’ll get to get my swing back. Otherwise, I might just have to really get used to efficiency.

I just got it. It definitely adds an extra boost to serves. I ended up acing a guy - he completely missed the ball and I've never done that before. I also like how it saves my bad dinks with its pop; a ball that might normally go into the net now squirts over. And some drives - as long as you keep them low - surprise people with their power. I can't say I like the "feel" of the paddle. It's less an extension of my arm than other paddles. Also, the spin is not as good as other paddles I own but it's pretty decent.

Which one did you get? Power or control?
@ginjaninja36275 ай бұрын
@@alarraga5 I got Power. I’m playing well with it now - there was a break-in period. But it still is less forgiving and harder to spin than my Diadem 18k.

I was blown away with the feel of the pro power paddle, unlike anything I’ve ever felt.. I’ve heard a lot of chatter from people wondering if it’s going to be banned.. thoughts?

I have the ppe and I just can’t reset my shots. The power I have for my forehand strokes is there but when it comes to resetting and sinking, I’m absolute garbage. Was thinking about getting the control but I’m told to just work with the ppe more. I’m just getting frustrated.

I have hit with both paddles. I have owned the power elongated since it came out. Two days ago the paddle was officially delaminated. The face separated on the back side and it produced two cracks on the face near the top of the paddle. So 2 months and delam problem. Delam on the GB Pro looks like less control AND less power. The paddle lost heat. It doesn’t perform like other thermo delam paddles that get hot. As far as the control model. It’s a marshmallow. It’s just too soft, but it also doesn’t play like the other SST paddles because of the way the core has that ring around it. Changes the hit.

You confirmed everything within 10 min. “Not consistent” and “dial back your swing to stay in”. While I have no doubt the tech is good, the reality is few players should play with this paddle. Most players don’t have consistency and don’t have the ability to modify their swings consistently (especially under pressure) to use this paddle. And then most thr players I see using it, feel like because they have this power paddle, they need to constantly use power….for everything. I think for a small population, this paddle could be awesome…but for most, you’re absolutely not going to help or improve your game using it. Any paddle that you have to make big swing mechanic changes, typically isn’t a good one.. I would much rather know I need to put more effort into a swing to generate more power vs. constantly having to think about using less….

While I do agree that this isn’t a plug and play paddle. I’d have to disagree with the whole modifying your swings arguement. Regardless of the paddle you have you should be doing that, the further back you are the harder you can hit, the closer you are you should be taking some steam off and maybe focus more on spin. If you try to hit all of your shots the same way you’re going to hit out a lot of into the net a lot, you have to make micro adjustments on every ball because they’re not all the same. Same way if you’re dealing with a top spin shot vs a back spin shot if you swing the same way on both those balls, you’re probably gonna hit the net a lot against back spin.

@@adamheath4599 not what I meant. I meant for a new paddle, you don’t want to have to completely change your shot mechanics.
@adamheath45997 ай бұрын
@@NOT_A_TOP_FAN umm, that’s not uncommon though. Some paddles play completely differently, the first paddle I played with was pretty poppy so when I drove it would have less dwell time on my paddle. I got used to this paddle so when I switched to a more plush paddle in the engage pursuit pro, all of my drives were high and out because I wasn’t used to the extra dwell time on my paddle. It took me like two weeks to adjust my swing mechanics so I could aim my drives like I wanted. Of course if you’re switching to a paddle that plays similar to yours then you’re not gonna have this problem, but if you switch to a paddle that operates completely different then what you’re used to, you will have to change.
@NOT_A_TOP_FAN7 ай бұрын
@@adamheath4599 it is uncommon. If you played competitive tennis, you want the same mechanics every.single.time. Nobody completely changed their play style for a paddle - you’ll never be consistent or good.
@adamheath45997 ай бұрын
@@NOT_A_TOP_FANyou just contradicted yourself, you just commented on why most people shouldn’t buy this paddle because you’ll have to change your swing mechanics, and yet this paddle is sold out. So obviously people are changing their swing mechanics. Furthermore, I know many people who wanted to change from a banger to a control player and they bought a paddle that would help facilitate that. My pickleball partner being one. Also, I’m not a tennis player but I’d assume high level tennis players don’t drastically change their stringing, or manufacturer very often for this very reason. It’s the same in pickleball, if you go from a poppy/power paddle to a control centric paddle you will have to change your resets, dinks, and possibly ground strokes, there’s no denying that. That’s also why switching paddles very often is ill advised.

Ball comes off like a trampoline. It’s not fun to play against
