This is a prequel to the very first Gears Of War game. It tells the story of how this war happened. These mutated creatures they're fighting against are called The Locusts. They came out of these giant holes.

Gears of War is so good. I'm glad they dropped this trailer. And co-op can be fun.

Man for those who played the series, those Mad World undertones in the music just hits hard

thinking about how marcus is so unorganized and almost wild against the locust here is because it’s the first day of the war and this might genuinely have been his first locust experience makes my heart FEEL so many things…especially when you love the franchise and know where he is now like 30-40 years later…..I wanna cry every time I watch this trailer I’m so excited for the prequel 😭

This the first time that they are facing locust. What's worse is that with such a new enemy they are also sending the strongest to deal with the gears. Also, not sure if you can hear it, but the subtle music of Mad World. That song is what got people so moved by the original gears of war and it's basically nostalgia for them. I can't wait for you to check out or even play the original gears games and see Marcus journey throughout. Also the original Mad World and Ashes to Ashes trailers are really well done and I hope you can give those a watch.

Y'all should finish watching the cinematic trailers for 1 2 and 3 it goes good with this especially since it's a prequel and continues off with the "mad world" music that played in the background in this trailer.

I cannot stress how much you guys need to play through the franchise. It is a superb experience.

The song is "Mad World", and when people saw Dom grab Marcus people in the audience started literally balling. Microsoft has made a TON of mistakes in the last three years and this is most definitely not one of them. People have been waiting literally years for this.

Proof of the locust might is in the fact that even a foot soldier is capable of throwing about a man in full gears probably weighing over 100kgs like he's paperweight. This trailer reallu reminded of just how strong the locust are. Also this takes place before gears of war 1, right after e day started sothis means this war our main characters first ever encounter with a locust, it was also his first locust kill.

You need to watch all the old trailers most notably mad world trailer ,in the end trailer, hurt trailer and the gears 5 trailers at the very least

My favorite Marcus line to native tribesmen called Tai. I'm gonna honest with you. We're not saints. But we are gonna win this F_cking war and I'd rather have you on the winning side. This is during the Pendulum War, when humanity fought itself for cheaper fuel, eventually atrocities were made against each other.

Best way to play Gears of War is through co-op complete with all it entails to having a good teammate.

Just a cinematic was enough to bring me back to those days back in high-school right after classes and going with some friends to a cafe to play some Gears of War 2, only to then each one getting an Xbox 360, and playing at home to play GOW 3, this trailer brought me back those memories, the sting is the music as is piano version of Mad World (that song in Donnie Darko, great movie you guys and the one that STILL HAS COPYRIGHT lol) an important song in Gears, E-Day is a prequel game of the series, this is how all of it began the locust surprise invasion to the humans how really went to hell, after a 79 years-old war finally ended only to getting into something worse, and they nailed. And guys, my old pals and i are going back to those games 🥲

You know the crazy part? A gear can usually lift about 200 pounds easily…for them to struggle against the locust shows you how much of a difference in strength they had in the beginning

Its interesting how the different trailers have different feelings of bleak hope with fighting back and bleak resistance. With this Marcus is struggling against a single grunt in desperation In Gears 1 everybody is struggling seperately and Marcus is shooting an endless horde with just a lancer, mowing em down but without end. In Gears 2 its like humanity is at a stalemate with the locust horde as Marcus charges in with a half conscious grunt as a meat shield into a seemingly endless battle. In Gears 3 all the buddies are holed up in a single ditch saving each other and blasting away endless hordes of Lambent or infected locust and other mutations growing endlessly like vines as they all look tired and ragged and ready to give up but refuse to do so. Its a strange thing to look back on how as they get mildly older by the timeline they are shown as more formidable, facing down and even fighting back impossible odds but are weary and weak whereas this is Marcus in his young prime where he should be full of life but is in a toe to toe with a basic enemy almost manhamdling him as its the start of the series and the young hardened soldiers are fighting this threat for the first time. Hears may be a big bro squad action shooter game but its trailers always hit that mark that also lines up with each other about how this ongoing conflict can make you stronger and smarter by surviving but also slowly drain you, either of compassion, will, or both.

Not gonna lie when i first saw this trailer and noticed it was a young Marcus I was excited, and then the Mad World theme hit even more and there was Dom and i really got hit in the feels

If you're planning on playing this when it comes out then these are the games/DLC I'd recommend playing first Gears 1 + 2 + 3 (obviously). Gears of War Judgment (this plays quite differently to the others but it has an interesting story.) This is also a prequel to 1. RAAMs Shadow (a DLC to 3). It gives a bit more insight to the early stages of the Locust war and is a prequel to 1.

I love Gears Of War. Gears 3 was my first game for the franchise. (And is probably my favorite) I wish I could have played the original three as they came out. Better late than never 😂

Gears is an INCREDIBLE series and worth playing for the story

this is a prequel that takes place 14 years before the first game this takes place a little bit after the first-time locust will attack that is why marcus is having so much trouble with the locust

Ive only played 1-3 and judgement and also a long time ago at that but from what I remember this would be the emergence day we are seeing. Judgement itself was a prequel for the trilogy and this will be a prequel of the prequel.

I was never a fan of Gears of War. I tried first game on PC but I didn't liked it because it's just a boss rush game and nothing more. Sure, there is some action where you shoot down your regular enemies and stuff, but most of the time it's just a boss rush. And all it comes down to is to find some weak point on a boss that you are fighting against and shoot him enough until he is down. And I don't like that. I would rather prefer the game to be most of the time an action game, where you shoot enemies, solving puzzles and explore the world, even if that world is small, and then at the end of each chapter you fight a boss. But not when it's just mostly the boss fights. And there is another game that I don't like for the very same reason, and that is Ninja Blade game. Or any game at that matter, where it's just about fighting bosses. Because it is annoying, it is boring and it tests my patience instead of skill.
