So I was the character portraying "Baby John" and I was incredibly blessed to be a part of this. Just a few notes that I wanted to add in, firstly I was a freshman, the rest of them were seniors. One of the people in the group (the one who portrays action) choreographed and put together the entire thing. And I am now way more into theater because of that whole experience. There's a lot more that went into this of course but I don't want to make this comment too long. But Thanks to everyone who has written comments you guys were so generous and it seriously means a lot.

I was the actor portraying Snowboy (tank top guy), and I got to say, so much love and appreciation towards you guys who watched and supported us. Your love and appreciation is what inspires us actors to keep doing projects and productions, help us grow, and learn to become better actors. Thank you so much for sharing and spreading this performance across to others. We are all still shocked to this day that we won state. Who knows, maybe we’ll reunite and perform something again.

High School??? ? THIS is outstanding!! Almost 20 years Disney Entertainment Manager..... choreography is so spot on....characterization is wonderful...you captured the close relationship of an era! Today ...guys would be distant in physical presence... you owned space...not seen ever at this age....BRAVO! Teacher....you did awesome

Very professional performance, its a tricky song to coordinate with all the counterpoints going on, and the choreography was brilliant!

Is this a school for the performing arts? Singing, staging and choreography were excellent given the age of the performers. I have seen versions of this done literally by professionals who did not even come close to the talent displayed here. The interplay of your characters was just spot on! Hope your teacher was really proud of you!

This is so good, I’ve loved this song for 30 years and this is the first I’ve seen it performed by actual teenagers, it’s lovely. The ballet is really good, that cabriole is not easy, the choreography’s really good and then they pulled those moves out at the end, I had shivers.

Wow, “BRAVO” to the teaching staff who were able to shape this talent into an amazing performance! And a “BIG” round of applause to the young performers who did a broadway performance!

This was brilliant in every way, better than things I have seen on Broadway and in London's West End. Massive applause from Ireland. I trained as an actor in London (at the same school as Rupert Friend and others) but decided that, to devote the one life you get, to such a precarious profession was a risk I wasn't prepared to take. Unless you are 200% committed, don't do it. (I became a doc instead.)

I' ve watched it by coincidence. I am from Berlin in Germany and West Side Story is one of my all-time-favourite and you made me cry! It was such a thrill watching you, dancing, playing and singing as good as the cast 60 years ago and so wonderful to see young people still enjoying this music. You made my day with your performing! You are all beautiful, you will go your way, that is for sure! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to watch you!

West Side story is a god tier movie

Wow. I've been in love with this song/scene since I first saw the film and have watched every version of it on YT. Just getting down Bernstein's complicated modulation and tempo changes is tough enough but pulling off all the moves requires a level of focus and stamina that many performers don't have - especially as an ensemble. My jaw literally dropped at 4:16. There is SO MUCH that could have gone wrong here, from the notes to the lyrics to the choreo to the body contact to the props. Lord knows how much rehearsal went into this but it's stellar.

Stephen Sondheim originally wanted to end the song with the Jets saying "Gee, Officer Krupke, F@@k You" making it the first time the phrase would be heard on Broadway but was dissuaded from this by the head of Columbia Records Goddard Lieberson who told him that if he did, they would not be able to sell the Original Cast Album anywhere except New York, as it would be considered sending "Obscene Material" across state lines. This was 1957 America!! By the way great performance!!@

They can handle it. The lyrics even have a little trans hints. They can handle it. Way better than someone who confuses an author's last name with a book title.
