Got one as a gift, I love mine, it's faster than my oven, uses less energy, and is the second most used appliance after my Rice Cooker.

Air fryers are honestly godsends for small families. Most of us single people don't need to cook an entire full-sized oven's worth of food every night. It also cooks things much faster than ovens.

Air Fryers are more modern and efficient convection ovens! Funny enough, I stayed away from air fryers for the longest time because I thought it still fried the food.
@FGMagalaАй бұрын
Rather than more efficient, it's more like it's higher powered. Convection ovens only lightly disturb the air, but the heating is done by radiation like a normal oven. It just makes sure that the humidity circulates and there's no dead pockets. Air fryers directly heat the air, then pushes that hot air onto your food. For most foods, it's the same as an oven, but like 3x faster at cooking your stuff, plus only needs like 3 minutes to preheat, rather than 30 minutes. It does the same stuff as an oven, but as long as you're not cooking a casserole or baking bread, it'll cook most things in at a rate closer to a microwave, but with the qualities similar to an oven. Hell, it reheats old pizza to be just as good as the fresh stuff, though old fries are still screwed cuz they just dry them out. Frankly though, Geega's right in that you gotta watch out for all the marketing terms that people like to throw out and pretend it's some amazing stuff. I remember when oxygenated water was a thing, and all I could think was "isn't that just stirred water?" And more recently, there's people talking about hydrogenated water, and I'm just thinking "but water's already 2/3rd hydrogen. Did you just fail grade 4 science?" People are encouraged to be dumb and take things at face value, rather than actually learn shit and use critical thinking.

Thanks for clipping so much of GEEGA! I'm gonna make a playlist of your GEEGA videos so I have something to listen to while I do chores! ❤

It is different from baking, but (like others have said) it is convection baking! Circulating the air around helps heat it up more uniformly across than the surface and remove the excess moisture that leaves the food to prevent it becoming soggy while heating.

A lot of the modern kitchen appliances are specialized versions of things we already have. Can you make hardboiled eggs by boiling them in a pot? Of course. You can also get one of those egg steamer things for dirt cheap that is dumb simple to use and makes the perfect softboiled egg every time. Same thing with air fryers. Can you just bake things instead? Of course. Or you can throw some raw food in there and it dings at you when the food is done. It's not really for the experienced cook who has made their famous casserole recipe in the oven a million times, it's for the busy millenial who has limited time/experience and wants an easy way to cook for themselves. That's it. If you're the former, you'll probably never find a use for it, and if you're the latter you probably own one already.

As a parent with small children: Getting a cheap air fryer was an excellent purchase, as I can heat up some quick snacks in less time than it takes to preheat the oven. Well worth the $20 I found it for.

There's no amount of marketing that will get me to consider getting one honestly.

It is just an oven that only has top heating and no double side heating. BUT if you have an apartment with a tiny kitchen with no oven, it is a decent replacement. Also, if you are cooking only for yourself, the size is exactly convenient, unlike a full size oven would be.

Yeah, though it's a bit more efficient for small quantities mostly because of it's size but I do my fries in the oven considering I don't even do it once a year
@bleachno94 күн бұрын
You know, I thought it was all marketing hype as well, but having had both a toaster oven and air fryer at the same time, the air fryer is far far more efficient to a phenomenal degree, especially for things that are traditionally fried.

Air fryers are one of those things... Do you NEED it? Probably not. Is it nice to use. Yep.

Additional benefit: Air Fryers heat really quickly so no pre-heating needed.

I like my air fryer. But I also don’t have a countertop convection oven. And my oven isn’t a convection oven. And convection oven/range combos are expensive. So yeah, air fryer good. But as Geega mentioned don’t confuse it with a fryer. It’s just a tiny convection oven.
@ant47474Ай бұрын
air fryers are just more efficient. quicker at cooking your food n whatnot. but as far as I know, the way it cooks food is also a bit different and gives results more similar to the texture of fried foods but without using oil to fry them.

Its a mini oven, but when you are cooking for one its so much cheaper on the electic than using the main oven

Its not the best but its fast and convenient without being disgustingly soggy like a microwave.

I have oven already. Why would I spend money on worse version of it?
@zsaleebaАй бұрын
It's basically just a smaller sized fan-forced oven. Nothing wrong with that but it's not some big tech breakthrough.

I had one of those things once, tried several foods on them and to my taste everything was much more worse than using the regular methods. As for my family who did tried, they never praise the food made on it, at least the same way ppl try to sell you the idea that they are much better. Eventually I got rid of it.

Yeah I find it's good for frozen stuff or things you want crispy but it really dries out stuff you put in them

@@cheesesculptor I think its pretty much an air toaster, so its like putting things in a toaster. Which I can see a lot of practical uses for a big toaster.

@@cheesesculptor drying out is actually useful in some cases. For example air frying some potatos and carrots for a braised dish. It is also a smaller volume so you need to shorten the cooking time in some cases.

An air fryer is just a toaster oven with convection. You can fry thing in it with it and it is healthier than deep frying, but yeah it's not anything revolutionary.
