GEELONG AUSTRALIA
After we got situated with our room we decided to explore the stunning city of Geelong. We first headed down to the waterfront to watch the fish..... and the fishermen, and then headed to Geelong's Botanical Gardens.
We discovered our passion for traveling, beginning with our destination wedding in Jamaica in 2007. This year we decided to leave everything behind with a goal of traveling to 30 countries. We intend to record our experiences with a day in the life vlog, with the hopes of inspiring others to get out and see the world! This was our first day to actually walk around an Australian city and Geelong was just amazing. Staying in Southeast Asia for the last few months really made this western coastal city feel like we were back in the Pacific Northwest.

The rabbits on the bollards are because 24 rabbits were brought to Geelong in 1859. 50 years later they had spread over most of the continent! Our winters aren't cold enough, so they breed all year round. Geelong is my home town. Great video.

Geelong is my home city, I was born here and I love it. A pity you only stayed a day. The waterfront is great but there are so many other great sights to visit and things to do. For instance you missed a sight that is so rare on Earth and was only five minutes walk from where you were at the Botanical gardens, namely our grey headed flying fox colony. Giant fruit and nectar eating bats with a wing span of over three feet. You can walk right underneath the camp (flying fox roosting site.) They are very active during the day and at night, just after the sun sets, they all take off from the trees, thousands of them, and move en mass to search for food. Look up grey headed flying fox to what you missed.

That is so unreal. Everything you find from the gardens to the crystal clear water to the pier is so like a postcard. Just gorgeous all around. I see why you would want to stay. Maybe you're looking at your retirement country. You can tell that Amanda is having a blast, she's skipping and running and smiling so big. I'm so thrilled for you guys. Can't wait for the next 😊😊 Huge hugs to you as always!!

I like seeing little things like this about my home. That fish and chip store you were in is my local one, i was there just a few days ago, it's ok.

We had just traveled around South East Asia, so it was a treat being reacquainted with familiar foods and a new country. Plus, everyone was kind and welcoming.

you have a beautiful city this was the first western city we stayed at after asia and it just felt so much like home and it was in october so it had a little chill in the air and we had just cam from hot sweaty asia.

Geelong is the nicest place on earth. Unfortionaly it is 16530 km away from my home and a long way to fly.

I’m down in Geelong and is a great place. I started YouTubing 9 months ago, have already over 800 followers and do daily blogs (including my city Geelong and it’s annual events) and artwork (that drawing was my number one childhood hobby). I do have a drawing channel and is called DashersArtwork (all in one word). I’m currently working on my Arnold Classic (I attended the event two days ago) blog. This was my 4th time I’ve been (and was it’s 4th year therefore I haven’t missed one yet). Cheers 🙂

geelong was the first place we stayed in australia and I have to say that it is such a nice little town..... it really reminded us of home as we are from a coastal city in Washington state USA

such a beautiful city we loved our time there. We really enjoyed seeing people fishing from the docks was cool. We are back in the states and have been crabbing from our cities pier and we get lots of tourists asking us questions about crabbing and taking pictures and its kind of funny because we were just on the opposite side.

lol I know it's not spelt that way, but it's pronounced 'Je-LONG'. I can already tell you're going to have all sorts of problems pronouncing Australian place names, especially indigenous ones. I've lived in Victoria most of my life, so let me know if you've got any questions while you're here. peace

it nice to argue about semantics it is a body of saltwater connected to the ocean less then 10 miles from the actual OCEAN it doesn't matter friend...... if it has salt..... has saltwater fish...... sounds like saltwater to me. thanks for the comment.

Well we absolutely loved Geelong and maybe that is because we are from a port city so it felt more like home. The pier was so nice and the botanical gardens were beautiful.

I walk my little cavoodle from top of Eastern Beach along to Western Beach 3 times a week and I love all the activity along the way. On a hot day I stroll through the Botanical Gardens and Eastern Park. With close proximity to so many fabulous beaches, wineries and to Melbourne it really is a great place to live.
