Senator Chu-Chi really does feel a lot like Padme, an honest politician who believes in the people and peace. She even faced a similar problem with a Trade Federation blockade and stood up in the Senate much in the way Padme had. She's also more difficult to get rid of than her enemies anticipated, again like Padme.

When I first saw Chuchi in the snow world episode I thought she WAS Padme. I didn’t even realize Anakin and Obi Wan were there too. That’s what happens when you put too much clothing on. Also I was a kid when The Clone Wars was airing so it was hard for me to tell differences or pay attention. The Clones are finally realizing that the Empire they are fighting for is truly monstrous and does not care for a single of them.
@tristankawatsuma8962
@tristankawatsuma8962 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think so. With the chips wearing off, most clones already see the Empire is far more brutal and horrific than even the Separatist Alliance, but they have no other options. No way they want to fight alongside Separatists and there is no Rebel Alliance, just a bunch of small insurgent cells. And the Jedi Order is gone. Even though the Empire is kicking them out now, it doesn’t mean they’ll just take up arms. Clones are followers at heart and there aren’t really any leaders or organizations to supply and back them up. What becomes clear to them is that they truly have no more allies to protect them after Order 66. Plenty will probably be too depressed by the war, the Jedi Purge, the loss of their home, and now being abandoned.

@@thechadcruzaider7864 In Legends. Also, I feel most Canon clones would take issue with Clan Skirata. I doubt it would be over Mandalorian culture like in Legends. The issues would be over the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic. Kal Skirata and his clan hate or at least heavily distrust the Jedi Order and see the Republic as corrupt to the extreme. A clone like Slick would have a better chance of fitting in, but the most rebellious clones in Canon like Rex and the Bad Batch will have their issues. I have my doubts on Rex’s network being able to put aside their differences given that Rex even in the Rebellion was very reluctant to work with Separatists. The Bad Batch seem more open having already worked with a Separatist and are also commandos who had a different experience in the army, but Skirata kind of reminds me of Saw Gerrera, whose style the Bad Batch disagree with especially after Tech’s death. Even a Rebel Alliance clone in Legends, Able, might not be happy with Clan Skirata since he has much respect and loyalty to the Jedi. To put it simply, Clan Skirata seems like it would only appeal to few clones, especially in Canon. That honestly might be a good thing for the clan since they need to keep low. Though things still wouldn’t be so great since most Mandalorians wouldn’t accept them. The clones in the clan would count as foundlings, but we know the Mandalorians with Bo-Katan hate clones and the Children of the Watch would see the clan as being false since they take off their helmets. And both of these Mandalorian groups may also view Clan Skirata’s anti-Jedi views negatively. The Jedi are growing to be close allies as they’re rebuilding. In other words, Clan Skirata definitely wouldn’t fit in Canon.

I think Dooku imagined the Empire would be one where the police state and fear is equally applicable to everybody, not just the common citizen. He also did trust Palpatine. It’s always an irony I see about the Separatists. They prove their point on Republic corruption by just existing. Yeah, the Empire also proves this to, but it honestly seems like Sith should never get into politics because they’ll always choose to make everything worse to benefit themselves. All of the Republic’s issues just get ramped up to extreme under the rule of the Sith.

Dooku was, in a way, just as manipulated by Palpatine as everyone else in the galaxy, if not more so. He was fed a very different story about what kind of Galaxy Palpatine intended to build than the one that actually came about. In his drive to build a new order than would treat people better and stamp out corruption, Dooku unwittingly aided Sidious in building a state that cared even less about its citizens and thrived on corruption. Ironically, Dooku identified all of the symptoms of downfall in the Republic which Palpatine used to turn it into the Empire. In a sense, he predicted it all. He was just duped into thinking Palpatine was a potential solution, not the chief exploiter of the problems. Quite tragic.

There may be another reason why Palpatine doesn't preside often: he still needs to look as if the Jedi Purge was justified, so he could be pretending he got his health ruined by the "assassination attempt". As a bonus, it furthers his heroic image whenever he has to get in a Senate session to run damage control, as "he's fighting against his poor health for the good of the galaxy".

I never had any doubt that Star Wars politics could be entertaining, and I certainly deviated from a core of people who thought the Prequels played with it too much I thought it didn't play with it enough and the 2008 Clone Wars show dealt that with great efficiency, the issue in more recent Star Wars products in my eyes, has been the intrusion of Contemporary politics(that is, politics motivated by, and originated from the real world) and the undermining of the story because of it. KK seems more interested in promoting DEI/ESG principals than telling good stories, so if Bad Batch and some of these other shows actually this 'great' product, good I suppose? But I'm not giving Disney a dime in this current era.

Star Wars has always been a parable for the contemporary politics of the time. The prequels came out against the backdrop of the Patriot Act and the Iraq War and I remember people comparing Bush to Palpatine. The OT came out against the backdrop of the Cold War and people made analogies between the Empire and the Soviet Union. I agree with you though that KK's methods detract from the story rather than add to it. There's a right way to do politics in a fantasy story and a wrong way.
@EnclaveApex
@EnclaveApex Жыл бұрын
@@bchristian85 As opposed to adding or subtracting to the story, my reply would be that no comparison that could be made has influence on the story. I added "contemporary" because too often you see certain people claim incorrectly that "X, Y, Z" fictional product is inherently political, when normally you see people who complain about it, are actually upset with present-day, that is currently functioning, in all probability, paid or in partnership WITH a public relations firm, like they are making a product right out of a Soviet(since you mentioned them) productions studio, getting details about the story approved so it's enough of an agitprop. Hollywood has a long history of applying this same pressure on films specifically going back DECADES, but it was nowhere near the extent considering older films sometimes get edited for "modern audiences". No, it's like I said previously, the politics isn't something I have a problem with, I find the political history of Star Wars to be very fun, and highly aloof like reading tales of Conan or the Shadow, the CONTEMPORARY (i.e. pressing, present) nature of politics in stories being twisted for real life political gain is what people correctly identify as the problem.
@bchristian85
@bchristian85 Жыл бұрын
@@EnclaveApex Another part of the problem is that so many films today are made for a global audience as opposed to only the US or western countries and must be made in a way that complies with other countries' censorship laws and cultural sensibilities. This was a limiting factor when it came to the sequels that wasn't a factor for the prequels or the OT. China in particular has a lot of weird regulations when it comes to what can be shown in a film.

I know Padmé wasn't really against making more clones, but in escalating the war and diverting money meant to cover the Republic's basic services meant for all citizens. She was against impoverishing the people of the Republic and wanted to negotiate with the CIS. Let diplomacy and peace reign. I think with the war over and the banks securely in Palpatine's pocket, there was more concern with quashing dissident factions and stopping another war from occurring. Fear of another war or of Palpatine kept almost everyone in line, and they voted to fund a new imperial army that would cost less to create and secure the Emperor's grip over the galaxy.

I kinda wish I had a friend who never saw star wars at all. Imagine showing them all the movies and shows in chronological order. The Republic turning into the Empire is a big twist, and it's really entertaining to watch even when we knew it would happen already. Now imagine someone who didn't know about it watching these events unfold. Gold.

The sheer political presence of Palpatine is honestly insane in this episode. It so clearly shows that although the good guys can peck at the stump of the empire, with little win after little win, the overarching system remains intact until the full scale uprising seen in a new hope. Such a cool arc, can’t wait to see more of this kind of stuff!

I had recently seen something stating that Dooku and Papa Palpatine had something similar to a Jedi Mind Trick that they could employ to sort of hypnotize masses during public speaking. I don't know what they were doing to his voice during his speech, but by the end the hairs were standing up on the back of my neck. This dude could sell ice on Hoth. Rampart has been such an absolute jerk. I was happy when Palpatine threw Rampart under the bus but it turned to horror when I realized how he was playing it.

I must say I enjoyed Chu-Chi in this episode than I have any previous episode here. Chu-Chi has always been an optimist and someone who wants the best for people. But in her first couple of appearances she came across as kind of naive and a bit childish. Here, she still has that optimism and that drive to find peace and equality, but it's now tempered by maturity and an understanding of what she's up against. THIS Chu-Chi I could believe would not only get swept up in the fight against the Empire's more sinister designs, but can hold her head up above water as well

Not sure why Chuchi was still senator during the first few years of the Empire when Chi Eekway Papanoida was the senator in the bonus scenes of ROTS, hence why she was brought in along with Baron Papanoida in TCW. I'm pretty sure that Dave Filoni knew this at the time when he was making those episodes. Seems to me that this was one of those little details that he ignored when making the Bad Batch.

I always thought 🥰Riyo Chuchi😍 was attractive. Strong, Braveheart💙, and devoted to helping her people and bringing peace to the Talz. The fact that she is giving all her energy and life to give our clone brothers a happy ending just made her a top favorite. At some point into the future, there better be a story that focuses on Omega Squad and the 6 Null-class Advanced Recon Commandos with Kal Skirata on finding a cure to Accelerated Aging and sending it out to the clones in the galaxy. As well as helping Clones like the 501st Veteran in the Kenobi show and teaching clones how to live. Most of us Grow up with the Clone Wars show and I can't even express the sheer love we all have for the Clone Troopers, they deserve a definitive happy ending where we know that they, at some point gain the cure for Accelerated Aging and go on to then be Mercenaries, Bounty Hunters, Mandalorians, farmers, Law Enforcement, etc. Go on to find love and have families, and create communities. To go on and experience a long life. They deserve peace and Happiness. To have them just die and be forgotten, to be left on the street with not even enough money to eat is just heartbreaking. The beauty of Fictional Worlds like Star Wars is the Escapism it offers us in the real world. Fictional worlds allow us the opportunity to show how there is happiness waiting for all of us. Even if life can sometimes be egregious, you always have to push through, stand tall, and win a fulfilling life. You can not allow Depression, hardship, anger, etc. to win. Otherwise, if it allows the world to be a lot darker and less full of color.

Star Wars politics have always been entertaining and compelling to me. Apart from giving corporations their own seats in the Senate, I really enjoy how the Republic's and CIS's governments worked. And with new examples from Andor and The Bad Batch, seeing the degradation of democracy was just as compelling as it was disheartening. I'd enjoy seeing how the new Senate in Ahsoka is set up. As Chandrila is the current planet designated as the Republic's capital in that show. Although, I'll admit my favorite part of the Senate when its chambers were housed on Coruscant were the chambers themselves. Its rather grand and awe inspiring. And my favorite speech ever given there wasn't even Palpatine's, but the one Padmé Amidala made about the vote that would take the money designated to pay for the basic needs and services of Republic citizens and divert it to the war.

Palpatine was a literal Diabolus Ex Machina. Yet in this and other such victories he is likely to see this early on, he laid the groundwork for the spread of the Rebellion down the road. Chu-Chi and others tried the legit road only to see it redirected exactly where they wished to avoid going, and using their own best efforts against them. I'm half-surprised he didn't say (though maybe this was implicit) that how quickly they turned on the Jedi - mind you, not the fact that they did, merely the speed and ferocity - means they have no true loyalty. "You can't trust these clones - look at the people they're willing to take orders from!" "Including yourself, Emperor?" "Well, there you go!"

Good set of episodes. But not sure how that last Palpatine monologue worked. "The clones who are killed if they do not follow all orders, are bad because they followed orders. Therefore we shall have a new army of people who don't or can't follow orders!" Then 99% of the Senators cheer.

We think his point wasn't that the Clones would follow orders. His point was claiming the Clones followed orders indiscriminately, which isn't true. I doubt it would occur, but I have the feeling that the career of Senator Riyo Chuchi is not yet over. True, she may face the blaster-bolt at some point, but I could see her continuing to stand up for and aide the slowly phased-out clone veterans by whatever means she could legally (at least by Imperial standards) get away with. She could end up in the nascent Rebel Alliance ... or she could fade into obscurity once again, her last great task stopped in its tracks by a galactic government that has - again - let its own down.

This video is up earlier than usual. A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one. Palpatine is a master manipulator, but also quick on his feet to turn a lose into an absolute win or a substantial win at least. He did it here, by having a backup plan well in advance should Rampart fail to push the bill forward, knowing full well there are probably still a good few amounts of Senators and even some Officers left since the Empire is still new, and there was a chance they could uncover the truth that Rampart was hiding, so he had a plan in place to sacrifice Rampart and then use his corruption as a justification for the bill still being passed. Even without a backup plan, he can still turn things around to his side. Such as with the Battles of Naboo and Randilia. Obviously, the way the Battle of Naboo ended wasn't part of his plan, his most likely plan would have been to be elected chancellor, then a week or two later use his authority to send some Judials and Jedi to liberate Naboo, probably even telling Gunray and Maul to fall back before the battle was over to allow them to escape and be used later for the next part of his plan and allow the Republic forces to actually win, but instead, the actual Battle of Naboo happened and he was still able to capitalize on it, not just in the Republic but the CIS as well, as Dooku would later use what happened on Naboo as an example of the failures of the Republic and how the CIS should break away and fight for themselves just like how the Naboo managed to save themselves without the Republics aid. Then later comes the Battle of Randilia, the Jedi, Clones, and Republic allies do win the battle, save lots of lives, and prevent the Ranilia fleet from being taken by the Separatists, it's a big win for the good guys, but even then, Palpatine finds a way quite quickly to spin things to his advantage so he can get the outcome he wanted to get for Randilia successfully succeeding. Sure the Jedi and their allies save the day, but this incident proves that PSF can defect, the only reason they didn't this time was because one, the most skilled Jjedi saved the day and two, only part of the PSF of Randilia wanted to defect the other half didn't and helped stall for time so the Jedi could save the day, but what if next time there not so lucky and the Jedi aren't nearby or the PSF entirely defects that can be a big risk, so the Senate agrees with his bill he wanted to pass should Randila succeed in defecting to have the PSFs incorporated completely into the GAR to divide their resources up so that even if one defects they won't be taking much with them and can possibly be quickly taken care of.

As devious as Palpatine is…he had a convincing point. The clones under Ryanheart destroyed their own home world under his order without much resistance. The Empire cannot be eliminated by legislation and the Sith cannot be Impeached. The realm of politics and the old Senate are closed to the Heroes. Palpatine had them in his pocket 20 years ago. The Sith chose this battlefield because the Jedi would not go there anymore. When they did, they were ignored. This means the only way to destroy the Empire is on the Battlefield. The Sith must be destroyed by the Jedi. But we all knew that 40 years ago. It's funny, in Darth Plagueis, Palpatine gets the job of Chancellor because the only other guys running were Malastare's most corrupt public official and one of the most honest on Alderaan. Palpatine was a compromise. "The Lesser of Two Evils."
