🤣 Grew up with this treasure. How many artists can do this? Grammys & nominations By all means, not all of them, there are many more but just enough to show how many different styles she could dominate. 1976 Best Female vocal - Contemporary 1976 Best Female vocal - Country 1981 Best Female Vocal - Rock 1983 Best Female Vocal - Pop 1984 Best Female Vocal - Big Band (Lush Life) 1988 Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group (Trio) 1989 Best Female Vocal - Mexican 1990 Best Female Vocal - R & B (Don't know much) 1993 Best Female Vocal - Latin 1997 Best Album for Children & Let us not for forget 2007's Best Traditional Folk Album - Adieu False Heart & It's all done In ... French 😱 That's the 3rd language her music has been nominated for a Grammy in - In the USA. & Trust me when I say she can do jazz too. Yes, she could do whatever she wanted & often did, which kept her from rising to super stardom. She deserved it.

She set the bar way above the phony super stardom crap. She is a superstar on her OWN terms. She was a true musician and artist instead. A trailblazer. She called the shots from day one. she was a folk singer first, added country sounding stuff, then eventually proved to be above categorization...she kept redefining herself.

They weren't really her backing band. They weren't actually a band at all at that point. They were just random session musicians that had never met before that she hired for a week long gig she was doing for Disney. But they loved playing together so much for that week that they decided they would have a go at actually starting a band together.

RSR, one of the comments asks how many artists can do this? Angelina Jordan can and does. You listened to her, "I Put a Spell on You" a few months ago. She's 18 now, composes her own music and has covered 100s of artists, including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Queen, Elton John and many more. Angelina is a beautiful human being who admits that her music is bigger than her. Supported by her loving family, she has the biggest heart any artist I know. You said that her voice gave you chills. Listen to her sing, at age 12, the Etta James classic "I'd Rather Go Blind"......sitting on a sofa! Please, please do more of her. Thanks

Linda is a goddess, truly. She'd perform concerts barefoot, in cutoff denim shorts. She didn'thave to dress to impress, her voice did it all. In my younger days I sang this song many nights in the bars with a quality band of musicians. This song is INCREDIBLY difficult to sing!! I cannot stress this enough. In 2019, they determined Linda actually has Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), which is worse than Parkinson’s. PSP is a lesser known neurodegenerative brain disease, for which there is no cure & no effective treatment or management. Early symptoms are so similar, it’s often misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s & in early stages, it even falls into a group of diseases referred to as “Atypical Parkinsonism”, but it’s a distinctly different disease which progresses faster, causes more severe & differing symptoms, responds poorly to medication & has a significantly reduced life expectancy. So very, very sad.

She definitely did do a beautiful cover of the McGarrigle sisters’ amazing song. In fact, it was the title track of her breakthrough album, “Heart Like a Wheel”, which exploded her career! She skyrocketed after the release of that album in 1974.

According to Linda herself, the very best live performance she ever gave for this song was on, of all places, The Muppet Show back in 1980. It's still available on KZfaq.

If you search the dictionary for the word awesome, you'll see Linda Ronstadt's beautiful, smiling face. I have followed her since the 70's and one thing is crystal clear; she nails every single genre she attempts. She has given the world her heart and soul, and will continue to be listened to by future generations...You can bank that!

There is a clip out there of her performing Desperado with her backup band at the time who she released shortly afterwards so they could form The Eagles. The next place to go with her is a dive into her work with Nelson Riddle and the Great American Songbook. "What's New" is amazing as is "I'm a Fool to Want You" Off subject but knowing what a great fancier you both are of horns you should listen to Judy Garland's original recording (the clip from her film version of A Star is Born) of "The Man That Got Away" . She performs it in a late night jam session setting surrounded by different instruments.

The instrument Amber was referring to is a “Steel Guitar “ and they have largely vanished since the ‘50s and 60s’ in the same way that all “Rock and Roll” bands featured a Saxophone prior to the invention of the “Moog synthesisor “ in the late ‘60s’.
