I cant wait for the year 2130 when this show suddenly becomes a “hidden gem” and “misunderstood”.

I remember George Lopez was pissed when they canceled his sitcom for the caveman show.

When they announced they were doing a show off the commercials, I thought, "Cool how the caveman actors are getting a show out of a commercial gig". Then they originally weren't even going to cast any of the original guys. There went my minuscule amount of interest in it.

fun fact : Eric Andre was a geico cavemen for sports/live events.

It might sound weird but I've not watched actual tv in so many years, that I actually just assumed the Geico caveman commercials were still ongoing lol

Writer: “maybe we should just cut the whole Flinstones’ “yaba daba do” joke for the new pilot?... it’s just not that funny”... Producer: “I hear what you’re saying, Chuck, I do... but see... we already paid 60,000$ for the licensing to clear the royalties for the joke... soooo... it’s going in the show.” Writer: “Ah...”

"What a horrible idea. No way it lasts even a season." That was my reaction when I first heard about this sitcom, and it turns out I was absolutely correct.

Man. Even when Nick Kroll plays a caveman he plays a d-bag. He really only has that one speed. Amazing.

I wouldn't call this a "Forgotten Failure." There is NO forgetting this one, no matter how hard you try. Years of therapy couldn't even repress memories of this.

Every time I remember this show was a thing, my mind immediately assumes it's impossible and I'm somehow reliving forgotten and bygone shards of delusional hysteria. Yet, it happened.

People poke fun at the idea, but there was Dinosaur sitcom in the 90’s. It was pretty successful and tackled a lot of political topics as well. The 90’s were crazy.

It's amazing how something like this can even get made. I can imagine some corporate suits doing a ton of cocaine and repeatedly telling each other that this was a good idea.

Me, seeing the first commercial: Hmm, that was clever. Me, seeing several of these commercials: hmmm, annoying. Me hearing about the TV show coming out: hmm, that’s not gonna last. Finally, me watching an episode: hmm, I’m glad it’s getting cancelled.

Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer with the late great Phil Hartman is caveman humor done impeccably. Geico is grating, especially the “We love the new apartment/house. But there’s a [home maintenance pun] issue” bit

As a British person, this is all news to me, even the ads. Seems someone saw Alien Nation and thought they'd change it to Cavemen.

One more fun fact: Stephanie Courtney was on this series too, before landing the roll of Flo in the Progressive ads. By the way, if you've ever dealt with anything car insurance related, ain't nothing funny about the shit.

I legitimately thought I was the only one who remembered this show. I would get weird looks from friends when i would try to tell them about it. You should consider covering Flavor Flavs sit com: Under One Roof. I get the same reaction when i try to tell them about it.

I remember sitting in my office all day at work, frequenting the Geico Caveman apartment tour online back then. Most of my life has been a waste.

Good synopsis.. I kinda remember 'The Mullets' being similar.. It was a brief, funny concept. Not enough for a sustainable series tho.

I really started to like this show the last 2 or 3 episodes before it was taken off the air.

I remember when this show came out, I had such high hopes for it. Being a fan of The Munsters and The Addams Family, I thought this show would have a similar premise; lovable misfits that don't realize they are unusual, getting along, in their own way, in our modern society. But instead they chose to make the characters unlovable, pretentious jerks. 😒

I remember the sit com. I loved the characters. I loved their insider-and-yet-outsider view of society.

I remember when this was new and actually airing on tv. I just couldn’t believe they actually made a show out of the geico caveman but.

One of the songs in the commercials became one of my most played song in 2019 lol.

I see wasted potential everytime the cavemen declare “i’m offended” and the characters seem to placate them. Doing the opposite would’ve been very spicy AND interesting.

Omg I completely forgot about this.. kind of the way you block out an early childhood trauma.

I remember actually getting caught up in the whole "Caveman" thing at the time. I loved the silly commercials and my family and I would laugh like idiots whenever a new one came out. I was actually looking forward to the show and thought it would be on for years. Ha... After around 3 episodes I knew it wasn't going to last long. Love them or Hate them, those Geico Cavemen are still an iconic part of Television History, lol.

Unfortunately like so many things I wish I could forget this is one of those things that I remember due to it's absolute hatred by the public. Take a concept beat it into the ground and then try to turn it into a sitcom. Absolutely flawless logic.

It actually looked better before they retooled it, atleast it had a unique premise that made sense. The idea of the main guy accidentally falling Into stereotypical caveman scenarios while trying to impress the father actually seemed well executed for what it was.

This was/is seriously one of my favorite TV Shows ever!!!

I remember this. This deserved a double face-palm and head shake. Also, what is with Geico's RELENTLESS advertising. Now every commercial is "the house is great, it just has a [enter not funny pun here] problem".

OMG, I dug this series back in the day. It was the oldest recording on that DVR for years. I would go back and rewatch those episodes constantly! Oh, thinking of this show always makes me recall that episode with Ethan Phillips.

I was 5 or 4 when these ads came out and I still remember them.

Ive watched different reviews and watched several episodes and I thought they really did try and develop the characters and the world they inhabited. There was one episode about their own holiday called 'Long Night' celebrating a time when their cavemen ancestors survived a extremely cold night once long ago. It seemed like a cross between Thanksgiving and the story behind Hanukkah. Another episode One of the guys was volunteering as a big brother to a cavekid that was adopted by a white couple, he took the kid with when he went to play a caveman gamboling game that was like a cross between dice and dominoes, it was called Wolf Tooth or some shit I can't remember, it was trying to sound like 'rolling bones' which is the slang for dominos. I watched those episodes like 2 years ago or so. I watched like 4 or 5 episodes and it seemed like they were really trying their best at making a good show despite the hurdles they had to jump. I dare anyone to go watch with an open mind and you will be impressed with what they did with a show that the majority of people dismissed it before watching one minute of it. They took a ridiculous premise based off a commercial and tried to make a successful sitcom from it, and if I were to give it a grade It the show would be B- and effort would get a A-.

I genuinely enjoyed this show. I thought the actors did a great job & found the writing to be funny. It was born out of a very "Studio" idea, but I thought the writers did a good job with the premise they were given. It was one of your standard aughts sitcom tropes: couple of roommates who are completely different and get in silly situations.

Had forgotten about this. Saw the ads, heard about but never saw the shows till now.

I think this is one of those moments where where you think your idea is super cool an innovative, but a second or third opinion helps you realize it's actually not good at all. Like I'm sure they thought they were doing something really clever with the prejudice thing, but it comes off as tone deaf. On the flip side though, taking away the prejudice theme leaves you with a show that's about nothing. It really only worked in small doses.

This show was great. I got the DVDs with the other episodes and we often celebrate Long Night.

I saw, I came, I love it! Another good review of a failure, good sir! Also this wasn’t the only advertisement based show, there was also The California Raisins Show that lasted 13 episodes.

So this why Flo from Progressive never got her own tv show yet.

My friends and I saw ourselves in those characters.

I actually remember this show but I honestly thought for the longest time that it was some sort of fever dream that I had while flipping through channels one night.
