A gelli plate is great, no question about it. But what if you don't have one, don't want to afford one, or simply don't have space for another tool in your craft room? If you work with distress oxide inks like I do, I have a great alternative for you! Because with them you can create great prints, very similar to those that would be possible on a gelli plate. And I claim: there are effects that are possible with this technique that are not possible on a gelli plate...

You inspired me to try something new this morning. I don’t know if you’ve tried this. I used my stencils and makeup brushes to apply distress inks and oxides to my photo paper DRY. You can get beautiful blends of color. Then I removed the stencil and sprayed water over my paper. Beautiful. I then sprayed a little water on the stencil and put it to a new wet phot paper to create the blended color negative of the first one. So fun! Thank you for stretching my creativity! ❤️

I also improvised, as I only had glossy photo paper, some distress inks, and some stencils. I applied the ink directly to the stencil and I'm still very happy with the results!

Absolutely amazing, and because it is waterproof it is superior than Gelli prints. I love when you are so excited about techniques and their results. Makes me excited to try them.

This is very cool. I have another variation to gelli printing. I experimented using a silicon baking mat. And I used some extra foam rubber underneath like what you did with the felt as extra cushioning, and I used ordinary acrylic paint. The results were excellent and I'm looking forward to having the time to create some pages again!

I know this video was made 11 months ago, but I didn't see it until today but it has helped me complete an experiment I tried a few months ago😊😊😊. I made some stencils using a glue gun. I tried to print using Oxides.(on their own...). Of course I have now thought of using WATER with it. I already have that brand of photo paper, so you have completed my research 🤣🤣🤣. Interesting views on gelli plates. I found one at a reasonable price and you don't need special acrylic paint for them....any cheap craft/acrylic paint works, plus you can use all and any kind of paper with them. Oxide inks and special paper makes this an expensive alternative for me, I'll stick with the gelli plate.

It's funny that just last night I was doing this technique with my embossing folder and oxides. Wet the photo paper and rub your oxides on the deposed side. Run it through the big shot. The results are gorgeous 😍

I wonder what the secondary effect would be if you placed paper between stencil and acrylic, and then also a secondary printing from the remainder of the ink from the embossing filter...... oh good golly but the possibilities!!!!
