Gels and Mediums as a collage Adhesive

Golden Acrylic Gels and Mediums work exceptionally well as an adhesive for the creation of collages. The range of gels provides options for successful adhesion to textured surfaces as well as excellent clarity and flexibility.

I've heard of "binder medium" for collage. Is this different than gel medium?

When doing collage. Do I need to gesso waterocolour paper before I use gel medium as a glue for pieces of paper?

Hello Surowy, it should not be necessary to prepare watercolor paper with gesso before applying an acrylic gel (or paste) in your collage process.

I’m new to collages. What is “plastic sheeting?” Is that just wax paper?

Hello Amber, no - it's not wax paper. Plastic sheeting generally refers to HDPE plastic used as a cover or drop cloth available at most hardware stores.

Hello Amber, if you are referring to the plastic sheeting needed to create a paint or gel skin, an HDPE plastic would be ideal, was paper might work, but it will have a greater tendency to breakdown and tear after having any water-based medium applied to it.

This won't or will muddy carbon or colored pencil?

Hello William, it depends on what you're trying to do. We don't recommend applying this (or any waterborne medium) over colored pencil as many contain wax that won't allow the medium to adhere, or they're water soluble colors that will lift when a waterborne medium is applied. A carbon, or charcoal pencil will probably lift as well, but you should test it.

Are Golden mediums acid-free?

GOLDEN Gels, Mediums and Acrylic Colors have an average pH around 8.5 when wet and dry to pH neutral. We believe they will remain neutral and not become acidic over time.

This mechanical, high speed presentation was impossible to absorb. I’d rather see a real person discussing and demonstrating these materials, especially for collage.

Yea, got to agree with a lot of the other comments. Wayyyyyy too much rapid fire information, sounding like one complete run on sentence. Don't have time to rewind and rewind to catch each word you said. Explanations were also way too vague. Thumbs down.
