I've noticed that it makes me unlock the device every time i ask it something, which makes hand free usage pointless. also you can no longer ask it what time it is because it just responds telling me its not allowed to have access to my location.

I didn't download it. It just showed up when I went to use my Google Assistant which I didn't appreciate which means it's probably already on your phone.
