First phone at 19 for uni, was pretty much bullied for not having a phone in highschool. Especially sucked when the teacher expected the students to have a smartphone for use in research projects during class. Ended up needing to borrow a "friends" phone to contribute to the projects smh.

it’s the parents, they just put the kid on the electronics so they don’t have to deal with them being bored and crying. when I was bored as a kid my mom told me go read a book or clean😭.

As a 17 year old now, I believe I was around 7 - 8 when I first played on an ipad, which was my dads, i'd always draw on there or play games, mainly I was raised with devices, but unlike gen alpha I had friends back then, in a surburban neighborhood, i'd always go to their homes to see if they were free, or they'd come to mine, although the devices did do their damage to my mental health and what i've seen, I believe that'll be way worse for gen alpha.

I’m a gen alpha of course I do have a iPad, but that doesn’t mean I’m cringey, or a Sephora kid 😑 I hate most of the kids that don’t know how to behave. I hope my generation succeeds to be a normal one.

Kids in My Neighborhood in the low income hoods still play outside such as basket ball or foot ball kids still be on budget smartphones time to time parents in my neighborhood cannot afford an ipad iphone they mostly have cheap low end smartphone. When I was a kid grew up in the 1980s I had Legos and Lincoln Logs and G I Joes and hot wheels My parents was very low income my parents did not have computer games or not even an electronic Game Console in the home we was too poor or my parents was cheap only buy thing in need only.

I got my first phone(bare bones flip phone) at probably 10 so my little brother and I could go for bike rides and stuff alone. I didn’t get a capable phone until 7th grade, even then I still had limited screen time. Strict 2hrs and no violent video games lol. My brother and I had tablets at probably 10 to play mcpe on but again, strict time limit. Also wasn’t allowed to watch non educational tv or swear(hate, stupid, idiot all counted) until I was 13 The problem really isn’t that every kid has an iPad, it’s the fact that the parents aren’t teaching them anything or making sure what they watch is educational. If a kid has an iPad since 5 but they’re only ever allowed to play educational games or watch educational shows we would be in a much different situation. Obviously being online 24/7 still isn’t great for young kids regardless of the activity but it’s the garbage shoveled into their little brains that’s the biggest problem. According to teachers they’re way behind with learning and social skills. Tv at least has to pass some guidelines but online content is a free for all and bright colors and fast action attract kids, so that’s what is being made.

Just some suggestions It is good for children to get bored. Let them have some time to be bored. Have them go a few hours without the Ipad or other devices, tv or junk food. Don't worry if they throw a fit. They'll be fine. Provide them with all sorts of options, board games and crafts, and lots and lots of books. Give them materials to make and design things. Time to go outside and and ride bikes play basketball, and climb trees.Take them to the park or to a beach. Let them have friends over whose parents support these ideas. This is how I grew up and I love to read, to learn news thing, to be creative. I never get bored!

It aint there fault, Most IPad kids were born in like 2019 and in 2020 what were they supposed to do, Interact with people in the outside world? no. The only way they could have entertainment was from Ipads and phones. And traditions are hard to kill

From our own knowledge, it is totally false that they are learning to read faster. It's absolutely the opposite, and his ability to learn to read has been set back 3 years. And no one needs a cell phone as a minor, they literally don't need it at all.

G3n alpha has access to way too many things digital. Gen z was struggling because the mobile phone was changing the way they spelled words that should be way easier for them. Gen alpha can't spell ANYTHING that should be easy. They don't read like my generation did, they don't test their math skills, they act like two year olds, because they don't have boundaries set. Mums and dads don't discipline like they used to. If I ever acted like any of these kids, I would have been backhanded over the veranda, then put in front of the car and made run, and every time I stopped, I would have been nudged to run further. The generation needs good string discipline, yes less screen time. I never knew what a mobile phone was till I was 28, and even then didn't use it for the things ( platforms) today, because they weren't even invented yet. I didn't know what a computer was till I was 15, and never had to use one. Today, I know how to use a phone, a computer and things like that enough to get by, and that's all I need. I don't Facebook now, have never tik toked and certainly don't snapchat or instagram. I got bored? Ok, go play outside. Raining? Go read a book. Playstation was not invented till I was 19, so had first generation and second generation, sister got playstation 4, but I was happy with whatever. None of the new ones had been invented yet, so still had to go outside if bored, or read a book if I was bored on a rainy day, or coloured a picture to my hearts content. Books and magazines are wonderful inventions. There is no need for the generation of alpha to be the way they are. The generation before just needs to sit down and teach the younger generation how to read and write properly, instead of allowing them so much screen time that they don't know how to read write, spell, or add, subtract, multiply or divide. Taking four weeks to learn something mum should have taught you is just mind boggling to me. Man, if I was as stupid as gen alpha.....
