The Gen ii SP-53 Bolo by Ontario knife company is one of my favorite large knives. This 10" bladed chopper is a tank when it comes to processing firewood and falling small trees. Use the affiliate link below to get yours today! ⬇️

In fact, the bottom tab rotates for attachment. Then allows right and left side use. This is the case with all of my Ontario knife sheaths. Thanks for showing and sharing, I particularly like the idea of slightly thinning the blade at the cutting edge. Cheers Torsten

I've only ever seen the SP 53 listed as a saber grind. The SP 52 is the exact same pattern with a flat grind.

Thanks for the video I'm liking the look of the way you've ground away the coating it looks a lot better, I'm sure the sp-53 gen 2 is made from 5160 steel though

it was originally. the whole gen 2 series was. the 53 is the only one sadly that wasn't discontinued years back. on top of that, ontario knife company has been bought out (happened around the time this video was released) so now they're all kind of discontinued currently. thankfully i was able to snatch one the old 5160 versions of this last year on ebay

It's a beautifully designed knife, suitable for hiking and camping. How many inches wide is the blade?

Good Video....I got mine two weeks Ago...you said yours is a Gen 2 and its Printed on the Knife....but mine don't say Gen 2 on the Knife...so I think my is the Gen 1....I picked this up at a Army surpluse Store....I think I lucked out getting the Gen 1 with 1095 steel...

It is a chopping beast! Do you find it difficult to sharpen? It's a large heavy knife and I'd love to get some hints and methods. I want the belly to stay a chopper and a few inches near the handle for carving (feather sticks, etc). I took all of the powder coating off of mine.
