Usually one person is recorded at a time, in a booth, communicating with the producer via mics. Even before Covid. During quarantine, the out-of-Minnesota HF guys set up a recording space at home, and purchased Slate Modeling Mics and with internet and software, it basically worked the same. But they and producer Darren Rust were mikes/states apart.

One of my favorites of theirs. Yes, this was during Covid. They put out so much content during that time. They all purchased the right equipment needed to do their individual parts. I’m so grateful for them as that’s when I discovered them and they helped me through that difficult time. Love all of this. Adam was great with the beatboxing and Tim went so low. Love the jazzy take on this song. 😍

The guys did a great job of this Johnny Cash cover. Made it into a jazzy blues style. And they all look like some sort of criminals especially Tim & Adam. Remember this was done during quarantine so none of them were physically together. They were very creative during that time. Love the background train noises. Adam's beatboxing is crazy good & so is Tim's low notes.

A side note: You can tell pre-Covid videos from later ones by Tim's haircut. Prior to lockdown he kept it long with a rinse to cover that sexy gray streak. During Covid he cut it and let that gray shine. Their mastery at recording separately in 3 different states still amazes me. These guys define the very word -- talent! Enjoyed your reactions.

Home Free!! The best of the best!

It can't be otherwise with Home Free, this is amazing again. Beautifully sung, but also very well performed. Even in prison they are still funny. It's like the perfect recipe. Mix up some great voices, add some of one voice, then the other, throw in the exact amount drum kit, some low bass and great humor and you've the best result you can have!

The inclusion of the "train sounds" was because steam trains could be heard from the prison with echoes from the surrounding hills.

A+ video! They sounded excellent, such great background vocals and great harmonizing their voices!

I saw them a few months ago and during a VIP Q&A I asked them how hard it was during the pandemic. They said theu all got recording devices and that the recording of the vocals was the easy part. The videos were harder because a lot were done on a cell phone by a family member. Then they sent it all in to be put together. It was probably harder on their producer and the person putting the videos together. I found them during that time and they kept me sane and entertained.

Yeah this is one of their amazing lockdown videos. They released a new video every 2 weeks all the way though the pandemic Home Free released an original written by Chance Skull and Bones it’s for the video game Skull And Bones Ubisoft is releasing soon.They have a Lyric video and they sang a shorter version at Ubisoft Live Premiere. It’s beyond Epic

"2 weeks to _slow the spread_ " meant that area bars couldn't be open for ☘️ St. Paddy's day. That's how I know when all that started.

This was one of the first HF videos I ever saw, back during the lock-down. Did you guys see their other "prison" video, Unchained Melody? It's also really good. These guys love to play out scenes.

Timing for videos can be done either with full or partial audio of the other parts, or with a simple "click track", that lays down the basic beat and is the same for each part, and provides a road map for the producer as they combine tracks.

They had to hang up their own backdrops in their homes and they do have a sense of humor. They are all actually about 6'2 to 6'4 inches tall. Rob is the tallest. They all had instructions from their producer and they had to figure it out, but I guess you learn a lot of how to do those things when in quarantine because they couldn't be on tour so singing is their occupation so they had to figure it out.

There's a recent live video of them singing a mash-up of "Man of Constant Sorrow/Folsom Prison Blues" at kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btKTpq2rncWWZps.html. The live videos are even better than the studio ones! Home Free's video was done during Covid and I love their collective sense of humor - check out the heights they game themselves (LOL).
