The attention fading after a day had the opposite effect on me when I was in school. I wouldn’t hesitate to punch classmates or even teachers in the face because I knew that I would get lectured, punished, and then everyone would move on the next day. Finally, when I was in high school, my mom explained to me that I had to stop hitting people or else, eventually, someone would either call the cops on me or beat me up severely in response. Realizing that there were potential long-term consequences finally snapped me out of it.

As a person who’s trying to be known on the internet, it’s hard to get that long term success that people strive for.
