When Gene called Derrick Brooks' Super Bowl int, my eyes welled up for sure. Brooks is from my hometown of Pensacola and played for my favorite college team, FSU so this one was special.

the call at 4:04 with Spurlock's kickoff return. I was listening to that on the radio driving to my friend's house. I had to pull over and get out of the car to scream to the heavens after hearing that call. It's with me forever, thank you Gene.

Back in the 90's when I was a kid, the tv was always on mute, and the radio was on so we could hear Gene call the game, I fucking love this man like he is a family member, he always brought the excitement in the way only Gene can, ill cry like a baby when he retires from calling bucs play by play

I'm goinhg to missn Gene. He was as staple an auditory association as Rick Peckham was for the Lightning all these years... Blessed retirement, Gene. You've MORE than earned it, but no one can ever replace you!
