GENE HOGLAN SITS IN WITH BEHEMOTH!
My good friend Mr. Holt was kind enough to film this, which was me redeeming myself with Behemoth after yesterday's butchery of Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer. It was awesome to play with my Satanic Homies, and thanks to my bud Inferno for letting me sit in! Infernal Hails all around. This tour was God. THANK YOU SLAYER FAMILY.

@Gene Hoglan I was actually talking to Danny Lilker about this last weekend lol. (Him and I both live in Rochester) If you tour with a band enough times you’ll more or less learn their set whether you like it or not lol. Especially with a band that’s been around as long as Exodus, plenty of time to memorize a 30 year old song. I actually filled in on bass for my buddies band last year. Same situation. It’s a tightly knit brotherhood for sure. I love it

Gene is THE GOAT!! I've had the privilege of seeing him with Death when Chuck was alive, I've seen him with Old Man's Child, I've seen him in Testament, I've seen him with Dethklok, and also filling in for various other drummers. This dude can sit in and play an entire set of another drummer's band, and you would think he wrote the damn parts. The first time I saw him with Death, he had a tank shell (spent round) mounted to his kit...kind of had a big bell ride sound to it...crazy for 1995, and the fact that he does the intricate bass patterns all while wearing Doc Martin's and ankle weights.

@@stellarcubicbeam7760 Yes by a fucking miracle chance too. So I went to a Dimmu Borgir show, right around the time Thomas was recording with Gene Hoglan on drums for the Ill Natured album. Gene happened to be at the Dimmu Borgir show, along with Stian. They joined up with a couple of the Dimmu guys and played a surprise 3 song mini set of Old Man's Child songs from the new album I.N.S.I. at the time. Which is cool figuring Galder played like 70% of everything on that album, besides Gene's drums. That was around 1999 time frame when I was a senior in high school, Dimmu was touring for the Spiritual Black Dimensions album.

Saw a video of him with Opeth, I believe he learnt the songs in a couple of hours or minutes. Impressive.

any decent drummer can write a chart with the song structure pretty quickly, learn just the most memorable fills and improvise the rest. Nobody in the audience will notice if the drum parts are not exactly the same as on the album.

Gene plays with ferocity and yet still has great taste in his compositions. Hopefully he'll inspire more people to be more than blast-beat machines that play single and double stroke rolls all day long and consider that musical.

please be realistic. I love Gene, he is very very highly skilled and succesful and a legend, but I can name bunch of drummers that have much better control, stamina and power on feet than Gene. But does it matter or make Gene less great? NO. There are always better people than anyone.

Gene can play with any metal band. I met him in Dallas when he sat in on drums for Unearth. His work in TestAmenT is incredible as he is in any band. I enjoyed the albums with him and Steve DiGorgio on bass. That good old Independent Thought Patterns rhythm section will be missed in TestAmenT at least by me🔥🔥

ORA PRO NOBIS LUCIFER!!!! Saw Behemoth for the 3rd time, w/ Slipknot, and Gojira, in Denver last year. Wish Gene was their though! Non Stop feet in this song Fucking love Behemoth!
