As an early fan of Gene Loves Jezebel back in the early days I never fully realized the influence and artistry of Jay Aston. I mistakenly attributed most if not all of the brilliance to Michael Aston never realizing that it was both brothers that made this music what it is. Now I know.

Saw them open for New Order and Echo and the Bumnymen for the headliner at the Fabulous Forum (yeah, it was called that) back in ‘85ish? God, I’m old. Have permanent tinnitus now, but wouldn’t trade all those great concerts back then for anything in the world.

I was born in 86. I have memories of seeing the Berlin Wall come down on television. My uncle is significantly younger than my old man, so I asked him what it was like and he said it was a much happier time than now even with the advent of AIDS (he's a flight attendant for United, put two and two together) & the possibility of nuclear war in the beginning of the decade. I realize as I've gotten older that the music I used to like, actually kind of sucks in retrospect and that the stuff that Beggars/The Cartel were putting out were really groundbreaking, amazing artists.

You know, I did get to see them, back in the day. They were a really good live band. Some bands can only pull it off in the studio, but GLJ really had the goods.

I saw them three times, met them twice. The third concert, I was right in front of the stage. Got Michael's attention when he came on, and told him his leather trousers were unzipped. Both really nice guys.

Yes they are twins, twin Leos 🦁 Jay's date of birth on Wikipedia is simply wrong, someone wrote the birthday of a female singer named Jay Aston. They got it wrong.. Jay and Michael are twin brothers.

When they played Artemis ham hall in Vegas..i gave then a blue and White ring. Was a gorgeous ring. He came back and kissed me on my cheek. Was the thrill of young life. Lol I didn't know it was fake until I was older 😆

It's hard breaking that these twins are not talking and they split up a fantastic band. From the videos and the concerts I've seen, I can see that Michael is the one that reaches out he's the affectionate one. Body language tells a lot. 🖤

This band could have made it big and far if they're still united in this band up to this time. One is shy, focused on his guitars and vocals, the other one who is live wire who spiced up the stage with his vocals and dancing acts.I admire them both.

I used to knew and loved both. Michael is a open, loving person when I met. I loved Jay back then that he can be little unpredictable. Nonetheless they're talented and recently each playing. I look forward to Jay Aston's GLJ gig! Family can be difficult. Have anyone seen film "Deadringers"?

This was his first video with Gene loves Jezebel. He replaced original lead guitarist, Ian Hudson. He still remains with the band today, well Jay's version of GLJ. HE'S AN AWESOME GUITARIST. i don't know why he didn't get any recognition in this video. Peter Rizzo, the bassist didn't get very much recognition either. I guess cause they were the new guys

I agree with you totally. That's the classic lineup. Jay and Mike on lead vocals, James Stevenson on lead guitar, Peter Rizzo on bass guitar and Chris Bell on drums. This lineup still remains today. Well, on Jay's version of GLJ.
