The wording is correct because the subject in both questions are pleural you need to use the word are and is.

The subject in your questions is: "WHICH (one) of these plants...", the subject is NOT "these plants", and the answer to that question is only ONE plant! Clear now? And, by the way you write in your comment: "the subject in both questions ARE..." Again, the subject is "the subject" which is singular, so correct English is "the subject in both questions IS..."!!! You seem to be at a total loss what the subject of a sentence is!

Thanks Craig and relax Joe - I have always struggled with my spelling and grammar and sometimes no matter how much I check what I’ve written, I just don’t see the errors. Though I have been working very hard to correct this. I’m extremely busy at the moment and few more mistakes than usual have crept in, I hope to have more time in the New Year to check my work thus leading to fewer mistakes (fingers crossed).
