These prototype astartes were led by the Emperor himself in battle, and to make them suited for the many psychic threats on Terra and beyond, he gave them all an insignificantly small fraction of his power and soul to shield their minds from psychic influences. Astelan was one of these first Terran marines, as he is very old, and if one tries to look into his mind, they are repulsed by what is described as "feeling like you're standing next to the sun."

@@Marcus10k this guy I meet in at my LGS, I'm new to 40k and I picked the dark angels as my first character AND HE WENT ON A TIERADE ABOUT THEM FOR 2 HOURS on how they didn't stop the heresy or the Lion not being there on Terra, and not doing anything after the emperor fell, he said some nasty things about ultra Marines for some reason, I haven't read any lore so I'm not sure what he's talking about. He really really likes fulcrum. All the Google searches I've done do not support him in any way and all the other people I've met say he's a bit of a cry baby,

I have a round 110 astartes models, 5 total dreads, and several predators/ land raiders/rhinos. Did them all as space wolves. Horus heresy models btw. I ended up falling for the world eaters and after grabbing angron and a sheet of transfers I stripped all of my models and I'm about halfway done switching them to world eaters. Just because you already finished some of your models doesn't mean you cant remove the paint and do them as the legion you want. I will say though my wife wasn't happy when she saw what I was doing since it all takes forever lol

@@MyXyle666 yeah, that’s a lot of extra work for you as well! Do you mean “110 SM models”? Or are you talking about the Big Golden Boys? Yeah, I only have 3 dreads done! But I also a few tanks and a few flyers and I think I’m well over 110 SM Troopers! But also since they don’t really “sell” the emblems of chapter I made, everything is freehand! So that’s at least a extra 20 minutes to each shoulder pad and a extra 15-20 minutes for each units markings (of and only if I got it right the first time and didn’t have to restart! Which was rare)! I know it’s over a normal size army…….. now! But I was going off of a lot of, um…… incorrect, wrong and intentionally misleading information! So l know “I could”! But I also know the insane amount of work it would be to do so!!! That’s all I really meant

Space Marines are not immortal. They do age, albeit extremely slowly. They can live for centuries or, in a very few cases, millennia. But still not truly immortal.

The oldest Space Marine is Dante at around 1'500 and he is feeling his age. The oldest physically is Barabos Dantioch at 3'000 (his actual age is about 200) and like Dante, he was really feeling his age and, unlike Dante, looked like shit.
