100% agreed. In my company there may be about 1% that are real leaders. 99% of them got into management position cause they know the right people or are blood related to someone in upper management. Work ethic and generosity does not play a role in getting a higher position, at least not in most companies.

I remember Dave saying he tips big because he can! Now I automatically tip 20% minimum. I don't go to Starbucks because I don't like their coffee and they charge a lot. But today, a homeless approached me and asked for money for food. I was going to give him $5, but realized you can't buy anything for $5 nowadays. So I took him to Starbucks and he got 2 sandwiches, a bottle of chocolate milk and a bottle of juice. I felt good afterwards, when he told me "God bless you!". His name is Mico and I felt like he's a sign from my guardian angel Michael.

@droptozro
@droptozro 8 жыл бұрын
Giving is great and this belief is backed up by even atheistic people---the fact that giving gives returns even if not necessarily money. But the tithe is not for your local church. Completely disagree with this misuse of the Bible. God never said build huge buildings with large amounts of debt to entertain people(which is what it is most of the time today) and take tithes of money(it was food and animals originally, Dave knows this) to pay the bills. Pastors may request money to help with needs. But needs are basic... food, water, clothing and shelter possibly.
@drb4074
@drb4074 8 жыл бұрын
If you don't agree with what YOUR church is doing with their funds, then perhaps you should get involved or find a different church? Tithing is about you giving to the church. If you actually believe in God, then you'd know that he doesn't need your money.
@droptozro
@droptozro 8 жыл бұрын
D rB I don't have a church. And no, that's not what tithing is for... Tithing was essentially a tax on the people of Israel to support the Levite tribe who had no inheritance and ran temple services 24/7. It was food and animals, not monetary income. Dave even knows and admits this yet still falsely injects that it now is income which should go to a local church building. You won't find any Bible verse that says the tithe should go support your local church building.. Guarantee you.

I am asking for thoughts on this very subject. I believe Dave is 100% correct on this. But I feel a little torn on exactly WHAT to tithe from. Obviously, the first 10% of our income, but what about other things? Example: someone blesses you with $200 "just because" - should we pay tithes on that amount? That leads me to another question, if I get $50 for my birthday, should we tithe from that too? I LOVE GIVING! I always have! It may sound as if I'm making it a chore, but that's not my purpose. My purpose is this: despite our generosity, we've lived irresponsibly with the rest of our money, thus we have debt. Just wondering what others thoughts and feelings are on this subject. Thanks!

According to 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 (which I recommend that you read) it talks about the body of believers. Each person has their own gifts and needs to come together with others to share their gifts in the body. Without each other we are weak. With each other we can use our strengths to support others in the areas they are weaker in. When we walk in unity like this we are like a well-oiled machine and can do a lot more to serve each other and our communities. The 10% not only goes to support the bills of the church building but also goes to help the poor, needy, those in need of council, and to share the love of God with others.

@alexarnold3117

Giving isn’t about receiving generosity in return for yours. Generous people give with no expectation of return but that’s what makes it so special. Good things happen to good people it may not seem that way but it will always work itself out don’t change your character because of the “selfish power hungry individuals” but continue to bless everyone and with that, one day you may change their outlook on life to inspire them to change someone else’s.
