Tanak Hebrew Bible reading video was prepared by Ted Hildebrandt for biblicalelearning.org. The audio was read by Abraham Shmuelof provided by the Academy of Ancient Languages. The Hebrew text is from Mechon-Mamre.org. The English translation is from the DASV [Digital American Standard Version].
Some may want to slow it down by making the "Settings" -- Playback Speed = .75.

He died for us 2000 years ago so we can be made right with God, Jesus: I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life, no man comes unto The Father but thou Me. Jesus Loves You very Much Bro he is the Messiah the one Moses told about to follow to be saved!!! and as well as Daniel 7:13-14 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed." May God Bless You Mark 14:62 "“I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” May God Bless You Jesus is coming back bro!!

Jesus is the only way. We have all sinned and deserve Hell. Sins that may seem small in our eyes are big in God's and are worthy of Hell, such as lying lusting and stealing. But if we repent and trust only in Jesus, he is faithful and will save us from Hell and give us eternal life in Heaven. Trust in Jesus! John 3:16 Romans 6:23❤😊

Practicing hindu.. Brought tears to my eyes. Very interesting metaphysical outlook in genesis 1. What is created by God? What does God become? God creates earth and water, but he becomes light and day. What does God make after his own kind? Seeds which are produced by plants of His kind are considered intrinsically of His kind, not separate or created by the plant. Aves are made in his kind. All water animals and "monsters" are created of the kind of their own selves, and not of God's kind. Very interesting to analyze. A worldview similar to Dvaita is portrayed here.

Had to make a choice and most, even those knowing modern Hebrew, preferred the slower moving reading. There are others who have the quicker reading of the text: vid. "Genesis 1 Hebrew Bible Interlinear" readings. The pauses allows one to catch up with the reader and ponder its meaning more.

The 3rd verse is translated incorrectly. It says “And God said” and not “and he said God”. the Vav means And...then we skip to God then back to the verb Said. So it looks like this: וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים Can you explain why for verse 3 it is translated above the first word? “And he said”. Thank you.

@tedhildebrandt_BeL Жыл бұрын
the vayomer = and he said, the subject is then specified who the "he" is = Elohim (God). You can do it either way "and God said" or one word at a time "and he said" (vayomer) + God (Elohim) either way works taking the two words together = "and God said". I ended up separating the two words going one word at a time.

You asked about the "Gimel" heading verse 3. In Hebrew the alphabet letters also double as numbers: aleph=1, beth=2, and gimel = 3 so the gimel is there to tell you it is verse 3. Thanks for the question.

The word us is used in Genesis 1:26. That refers to the Trinity. One God with three manifestations to the believer... God the Father God the son and God the Holy Spirit. These three are one. Elohim plural means Gods
@tedhildebrandt_BeL
@tedhildebrandt_BeL Жыл бұрын
Why is the verb then 3m Singular? The word Elohim is translated in some contexts "gods" but in many contexts it is used as a plural of majesty "God" singular and the verb indicates that it is singular as do virtually all translations done by leading experts and scholars from Hebrew both Jewish and Christian (vid. NIV, KJV, ESV, NRSV, NAB, NASB, et al.).

There are many differing ways of interpreting Gen. 1 and science. Best probably to get a book on it and see The Lost World of Genesis One: Ancient Cosmology and the Origins Debate (The Lost World Series, Volume 2) by John Walton, and The Manifold Beauty of Genesis One: A Multi-Layered Approach by Gregg Davidson, and/or J. C. Colins, Reading Genesis Well: Navigating History, Poetry, Science, and Truth in Genesis 1-11. At Biblicalelearning.org there is a series of lectures by Dr. Perry Phillips on the Big Bang and Creation that are worth exploring biblicalelearning.org/kingdom-prologue-kline/ -- Enjoy -- forgot my professor's book Genesis One and the Origin of the Earth by Robert C. Newman and Perry Phillips... both Ph.D's in Astro-Physics from Cornell University and advanced degrees in the Bible.

Hello is this Bible or Torah?
@tedhildebrandt_BeL

The Bible is Genesis through Malachi which includes the Torah. The Torah is the first five books (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy-written by Moses. Torah is also called the Pentateuch (Penta=5, teuch = books). The Torah is the basis of the rest of the Bible.

Elohim means gods not god El means god Wrong translation for the green
@tedhildebrandt_BeL

Sorry, every major translation that I know into English translates Elohim as "God" (Gen. 1:1). These translations (KJV, NIV, ESV, RSV, NLT) were all done by Hebrew experts. You probably need to think about that before you take Elohim as plural. Notice also in Gen. 1:1 the verb is 3rd masculine Singular (not plural). Please learn Hebrew before critiquing.

Seriously? I lived in Israel and studied Hebrew there so I'm not sure it's way off. Most translators seem to agree with most of it. I was a translator on the NLT so I'm not crazy... maybe just a little bit. ;-)

Elohim is God. Elohim is plural because God is Trinity - three persons, one essence - equally divine and equally God, but separate.

No, I did it on purpose. The verb tells you it is singular. Elohim is translated singular, plural doesn't always mean many, sometimes plural is used to trigger the idea of majesty. Holy of Holies... The other way to check it out is to look at virtually all translations into English done by leading scholars [NIV, ESV, NRSV, NAB, NLT, KJV] all translate it singular into English as does anyone who knows Hebrew.
