Genesis 3 No Till Drill (Seed set up and Planting)

We set up the seed size and pounds per acre on the new No Till Drill. Super excited to see what we can do with this piece of equipment. We get to plant our first crop.

I wish they would make a 3ft light. I have a NH 1720 that’s 28hp. I still think this is the way to go over other drills.

You can speed up the calibration process. Instead of the metal tray, we use cups. We also built a small tool so we can spin the wheel with a drill. I also put a small piece of red tape on the wheel so it is easy to see. Good luck planting, you will love it.

I have a 606NT Great Plains with 600lbs of ballast weights. If the ground is really hard no coulter will cut into it at a uniform depth which means your opening disc will not either. You will have shallow pockets where the seed won't cover. My advise is simply wait for sufficient rain to soften things up. I tell my clients the same thing. Believe me you want a uniform stand. I learned quickly people will talk bad about your work if you don't give them a good stand. Some things you can't control one and the most important being the weather. I do about 100 acres of plots and pasture every fall. I think you have a good machine. Just takes time to learn the no till aspect of planting. It will come...

How much of ac of fertilizer did u put on it 6-24-24 ?

46 0 0 is what it recommended for the soybeans. 100lbs per acre is what we tried.

soybeans do not need urea(46-0-0 all nitro) thats for corn

He has a 40 horse and its a load. It’s heavy. Think 1600 lbs or so is what it weighs.

If you had 5.6 oz on your first weight, I'm a little confused why you multiplied by .56 and not .35lbs x 136?

The multiplier is set by the manufacturer. We went by the book on the settings.

@camofamilyoutdoors yeah I know, my multiplier for my Gen 5 is 85.. I'm just saying, you are supposed to multiply that multiplier by seed weight (in pounds). So if you had 5.6 oz of seed, your math would have been .35x136= 47.6lb per acre.

@@kylebevisyou are correct. They didn't convert to lbs first. Seeding rate would have been almost 50% off on the low end.
