Ray tried to speak czech at the beginning. It sounds really funny as many words were read wrong :-)
Many people asked me to send them the copy of this show on DVD but I really don't have time for it. But I uploaded all songs on youtube so you can watch them as well. The quality is really great so I hope you like it :-)
!!! Important !!! Do not ask me to sell you the DVD. I don't sell bootlegs!
Here's the setlist:
1)No Son Of Mine
• Genesis - No Son Of Mi...
2)Land Of Confusion

3)The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

I love the album more than Banks or pretty much anyone. But never got a rhythmic or melodic satisfaction from this song, parts would have been cool in grandeur compositions though.

I'm a Genesis fan. I have all the albums including the archives, and let me tell you, this is a pretty good decent album, Ray Wilson does an excellent job, but critics don't understand that. This album summarizes Genesis' career perfectly, progressive passages, pop songs, ballads, what some people call "pop-gressive," great lyrics, wonderful instruments, listen to this solo, doesn't it remind you Steve Hackett a little? Great album one day people will give it a chance and understand it.

_Calling All Stations_ would benefit from a new mix with attention paid to dynamics. There's so much Loudness Wars compression going on that listening to it for more than a couple of minutes turns becomes a real chore. Some of the fault lies in the arrangements themselves. Consider the title track: Ray Wilson and Mike Rutherford sound as if they were tasked with imposing a dramatic arc on a largely amorphous blob consisting of not much more than Banks' monotonous string pad drone and a drummer who has been told to keep it loud and simple and doesn't sound like he/she wants to be there. Rutherford adds some variety with dramatic rock and roll flourishes that aren't obviously connected to the material. Wilson sounds like he's the only one who's even trying, but it's all for naught because the mix is so muddy and the Loudness Wars compression pushes everything up to 11. The blame for the commercial and artistic failure of _Calling All Stations_ falls squarely on Rutherford and Banks. There is some good material in there, but Rutherford and Banks demonstrated that they lack the production and arrangement chops to cultivate it, so we're left with Ray Wilson singing karaoke within a half-baked, over-compressed mass of musical sludge. Why _Calling All Stations_ was remastered in 2007 remains a mystery. It's not as if the 1997 master didn't already have all of the characteristics that contemporary Loudness Wars "remasters" aim for. Anyway, there are plenty of flaws in _Calling All Stations_ that can't be fixed by mastering. Some could be fixed by a new mix that would take some creative liberties and maybe add some new parts and remove others. However, there's no reason to believe that Rutherford and Banks could improve on what's there already, considering how short of the mark they fell in 1997.

Come on. This is not just a bang average album overall but a pale imitation of what Genesis were. There are some good moments, like this song, but overall compared to every other Genesis record other than the first, it's pretty shit.

Ray is a very emotional singer...I like that...he puts his all into what he is doing. He has a hard job....replacing the front men from a legendary band and trying to sound similar but still make it his own. He was very emotional on this and put his heart into this song.

Never got to see this Genesis incarnation live, and until just viewing this I'd never seen footage of them either. But I'm impressed. Been a huge Genesis fan since 1973. Recently revisited the CAS album and it's much much better than I first thought. And whilst I've never regarded Mike Rutherford as in the same class of guitarist as Steve Hackett, I have to say for him to put down his 4 string bass and pick up a 6 string lead and do THIS rendition of CAS so well ... then fair play Mr Rutherford. I've heard others say this ... perhaps rather than sticking with the Genesis name, this incarnation of the band perhaps should have called themselves Banks/Rutherford or Bankford or even BRW. There might have not been such negativity towards this lineup if they'd had a name change.

i can't say i love this album but ray did a great job not just on vocal duties but his stage presence is heavy. even when singing a light hearted tune, he has such a emotional feel about him. so many great people out their, ray deserves a place with them. genesis, like pink floyd, foreigner and so many others, are ever changing and always for the best. you don't have to love the album but if you open you heart you will find so much love and pain in this album

Thanks heaps for the upload. I think that this is much more powerful than the album version, which has an odd fadeout - here, the song reaches its climax and then is allowed to finish gracefully. An exceptional vocal performance married to excellent instrumental leads from Mike and Tony, and one of their strongest songs in some time.

Calling all stations Can anybody tell me, tell me exactly where I am I've lost all sense of direction Watching the darkness closing around me Feeling the cold all through my body That's why I'm calling all stations In the hope that someone hears me A single lonely voice I feel the sensation disappearing There's a tingling in my arms And there's a numbness in my hands All the broken promises All my good intentions don't add up to very much And I realise whatever happened, whatever happened I remember all the moments that I've wasted in my life All the things I was always gonna do Why is it now when it's too late That I've finally realised it's important to me To think that everything that's dear to me And is always in my heart Could so easily be taken And it's tearing me apart Going over and over in my mind I relive it one second at a time Calling all stations Can anybody tell me, tell me exactly where I am How different things look when your all on your own Watching the darkness closing all around me All around me And I'm lost with feeling Of your arms to remind me Of everything that's dear to me And is always in my heart Could so easily be taken And it's tearing me apart Going over and over in my mind I relive it one second at a time Don't you know there's never been a moment When I haven't had the thought That everything that's dear to me And is always in my heart Could so easily be taken And it's tearing me apart Going over and over in my mind I relive it one second at a time As I sit here in the darkness Feeling so alone And everything that's dear to me And is always in my heart.

I bought this with an open mind, not knowing what to think, when it was released. I'd been a fan of Genesis since hearing "Follow You, Follow Me" as a single on the AM radio in my mom's car in 1978 when I was 9 years old. By 1986 I was running out and buying their catalogue with the income from my first serious job. Anyway, my point is that this album, musically and lyrically (IMHO) is at least on par with the 1983 self-titled album and perhaps even some of their more prog efforts.

I totally agree Tony, I have followed the band since I was 14. First saw them in 75 (The Lamb) and have lost count of how many times I have seen them over the years so I have seen and heard it all. Its a great piece and has all the classic marks of a Banks/Rutherford masterpiece, I love it and I reckon the album is very good too. Shame they never gave it a real go, I believe Ray did a fantastic job of filling some shoes that were always going to be hard to fill.

This is a case of "What could have been." Like it was said below, had this been the first impression made by the new lineup, it would have been received differently. They had a new dynamic on this album - and it hearkened back to the best days of 1971 - 1977. Had they stuck to it and tried a second album, I think that would have been even better. For this longtime Genesis listener, Prog Genesis > Pop Genesis, and CAS is still an enjoyable listen.

Anch'io li vidi al Palasport. Era il 1982. Allora erano i Genesis. Questi non so chi siano.

This is awsome, really great perfomance and like the old Genesis, not so commercial like Phil was in his last songs.

I think this man is the best Genesis singer, yes i like this album more than their others, and his grave voice fits their music much better let's be honest...

@sean3415 Very thoughtful that. Indeed, Tony Smith did say that Phil Mike and Tony worked like a machine, and Phil's part was pulling Mike and Tony's ideas together. Still, I really enjoy the Calling all Stations album.

I think that just as a song, it is a great song. because it is always viewed in a context of a "Genesis song" makes it more confusing, but I think a lot of Genesis fans would have liked it more separated from the Collins Era/ Gabriel Era comparrisons. I think people have a "loyalty" to both prior singers and it gets in the way of enjoying the music for what it is. I remember when this came out thinking "the existence of this means that Collins Era Genesis is done." then I bought it and played it and by the 2nd /3rd time through really liked the music a lot. in fairness, I didn't like Mama the first time, and now it is one of my favorites, so not uncommon for me.

I also felt that this era of the band deserved better. Calling All Stations was a much more consistent album that We Can't Dance (which had some great stuff, but some really stinkers as well). This is one of the better songs, along with Shipwrecked, which should have been their mega-single.

@bakinchoy That is a fact and I totally agree. I saw The Musical Box perform in Milwaukee last night. At times I had to remind myself that it was not Genesis. They were that good. Peace.

Aless - I so agree with you...I don't know why Ray does this; he's talented enough on his own without resorting to a back catalogue that isn't really his at all. And having said that, I loved this lineup. Cut short *way* too prematurely, Mr Rutherford and Mr Banks. And yes, they should have (could have?) invited Ray to do a number or two in 2007. Shame.

This is the most underrated Album of Genesis, done by the most underestimated Members of Genesis. But in my opinion it's by far the best album of the entire "Post-Hackett-Post-Gabriel" Era, they did. Banks delivers a warm and dense soundcarpet with an incredible chord progression, while Rutherford wears the entire piece on his guitar. Sure, he is not a van Halen or Joe Satriani, even no Hackett. But he plays a warm, soft and melodic guitar which show his talents as a composer. And Wilson was a big luck for them to find, I feel sorry for him being treated so badly by them. He sings with passion and joy. So why people hate this album? Because only two remainers can't form the band? What a joke - look at the Uriah Heep lineups. I like this album, it should be recognized better.

@@LaurinaHawks what’s bullshit is Banks and Rutherford thinking that the post Collins era of Genesis would have any appeal at all. Without Phil’s distinctive voice it’s a no win proposition. They wouldn’t even allow Chester Thompson to be a full time member of the band! Calling All Stations may have been looked upon as a decent effort if it wasn’t called a Genesis album. It’s obvious without Phil the allure and drawing power of the band diminished to embarrassingly low numbers.

@@dexterdog62 I don't know where you get this disgusting Phil Collins addiction from, but I can tell you that there are a lot of fans who can imagine Genesis without Collins very well. After all, the best albums were made without him - without him as a singer. Back then it was a certain Peter Gabriel, if you can remember that. Even then it was said that without Gabriel the band would no longer be Genesis, which was true to some extent, but at least Steve Hackett was still there, still keeping the prog flame high. But with Collins, Genesis became a mainstream band - without him and his influence, they would have had a chance at greatness again, they just had to hang in there. The album is musically far better than the last albums before. And anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand music.

well...there are phases of bands. As it was said by Phil Collins in the documentary "Come Rain Or Shine" "Tony and Mike are more the spirit of Genesis than what I am." so how it translates to me is this: That even with Phil, the whole sustainability of Genesis was coming more from Mike and Tony though Phil and Peter's parts are important.

I would've paid anything to be at this concert. Can't people accept change???? For me there have been 3 wonderful and completely 3 Genesis groups or eras: 1) Peter's, 2) Phil''s and 3) Edgy and dark Ray and Mike Rutherford. What went wrong? They simply evolved. Love both these artists!
