I purchased the Genesis G70. It's my daily driver. I own two other vehicles, so I don't need rear passenger space nor do I need a bigger trunk. My Genesis G70 is my personal vehicle. Currently I have over 37,000 miles on it and no problems. Santiago Silver. If I only had/have one vehicle, I would have chosen the Kia Stinger for the passenger and trunk space. I prefer the look of the Genesis G70 over the looks of the Kia Stinger.

Really Genesis looks very special on the street. It's looks better than any other cars.

The Stinger looks better than the 2019 but the 2021 G70 refresh looks amazing. The grill makes the difference.

Pre Covid I was driving my 3.3 Sport 600km per week on the highway and was getting ~8L/100km consistent. Love the car, very happy with the choice of this car.

Nice review. Here in the States, the Stinger is priced more or less at about the same as the G70. So now what's the answer? I went with the G70.. better handling and speed. I don't need rear seat room or trunk and that's that's about the only thing "better" with the Stinger. And maybe it's my age, but I do prefer the over all look of the G. Keep the reviews coming!

Hi there, I live in Melbourne Australia and just brought a g70 ultimate 3.3lt and I absolutely love it!! The car looks amazing and the looks that you get from other car owners is incredible.. love it!!

G70 for me. Had a choice to purchase either and I just can’t do the interior vents in the stinger... plus test drive both and the G70 just handles better and off the line is just quicker and funnier.

I like the G70 3.3T more than the Stinger. The Stinger is not ugly but just not for me. I can't justify a Stinger over a S5 sportsback. The G70 is Sportier, More premium. Maintenance included. in 2018 when I got my G70 I had no issues getting it over the 340i or S4. Today though I don't think I'd get the G70 over the M340i.

Lol how can you say the G70 looks like a 340i. BMW has no excitement on the sides profile at all. G70 is much better looking.

The exhaust is louder than my Tesla's.

Just get a bara 1/4 for the price and way faster and cheap on maintenance however G70 looks way better

An excellent review of a very excellent car. I would happily buy one ahead of the equivalent BM, Merc or Audi. They are also nice cars. There is something nice about the Genesis. Perhaps it is the Aston Martin type badge? The seats in the genesis have a lovely look to them as compared to my Stinger. Indeed they are Nappa leather but so is the Stingers. I just wish Kia did some piping around the Stinger seats like they did on my previous Cerato GT. Then it would be the mutt's nuts. In my opinion, and I am bias, I just can't see $30K extra value in the Genesis as compared to my Stinger which has everything standard. The equipment is the same, the driving modes are the same, the engine is the same, and there are mainly cosmetic differences between them. I do like the looks of my Stinger compared to the Genesis which looks like the BM. Both the Genesis and Stinger are great cars but when push came to shove, and it did, the Stinger won. The Stinger also has a better warranty of 7 years and if you get it serviced at the same dealer they will extend it for another 3 years. Genesis is a five year warranty. To each their own I guess.

Kia Stinger is no doubt the beautiful looking Grand Tourer, to me the Genesis G70 is like the not so good looking step sister, I'm sure Stinger would still get more attention than the G70, I did enjoy this video review on the G70, but it did nothing for me, unlike the passion I have for my Stinger, which after 2 years, I still can't get enough of standing back and staring at it, as if for the first time, and I'm not thrilled that the Lambda II engine is not exclusive only too the Stinger, and has been fitted to the G70.

Great car.A couple of areas that cheapens this car,namely the very KIA Cerato infotainment screen and the Hyundai i30N instruments. And Matt reckons the rear end is bland? The new G70/G80/G90 as well as the GV80 SUV with the split headlight/taillight arrangement as well as the updated interior will all be absolute screamers.

G70 over the stinger for me in my opinion!

Stinger is better. But then again I'm probably biased, since I own one. Test drove the G70, and granted it's a bit more nimble, but the hatchback and overall looks of the Stinger did it for me. Moreover, forking over $30K more (Canadian dollars) for the G70, versus the Stinger (fully equipped Limited edition) isn't worth it. I guess you do have to pay for the commodities from Genesis like free delivery of the car at your door when you buy a brand new one, a free loaner vehicle when your G70 needs maintenance, which is free for 3 years. They used to offer free valet services for maintenance, but lately they've decided to reserve that to the G80 only. I can bring my Stinger in for maintenance myself and save $30K. BTW, great videos, thanks for sharing. New subscriber here.

As stated in my reply below, I'm quite surprised about the price difference of the G70 vs the Stinger. Feel free to delete this comment if inappropriate. Is it the country that is taxing the G70 more or is Genisis just cranking up the price? I point this out since Motor Trend did an article on this very topic. You might know which one they thought was better ( :-) ), but is US the only country where pricing of both are similar (or in some cases the G70 is LESS?)

Well you should wait for the new Stinger. Same dash design mostly, but better leather and some really nice tweaks to the outside. Doesn't get the new 3.5 V6 sadly. But for you AUS guys, I ain't paying 30K more for the Genesis, but agree the interior is better.

It's not true that the only reason to go Mercedes, BMW or Audi is purely for the badge. Sure, the G70 is a performance bargain, keyword performance. It definitely is not more luxurious than the Mercedes on the inside. Even the AMG C43 beats the G70 in every way when it comes to interior design, quality of materials, sound, exhaust, performance. I personally think the exterior looks better as well. Is it worth the extra $15k-$20k for those things? Not if you only care for performance, but if you want everything else and can afford it, of course the Mercedes is the winner in this example. Not to mention the A35, CLA 35, CLA 45 are actually all between $45k - $55k and they also have much better interior. So when comparing to those cars, no, the G70 and Stinger do not come out ahead at all.

Stinger is a lot more eye-catching, and the extra space in the back is essential if you have kids.

Genesis has it all over the stinger,..the Kia is getting long in the tooth.

I ended up getting the stinger. I think it does look better just more eye catching. The g70 is def more buttoned down tho. And I do love the interior in the g70 but you can’t get red leather which I have in my stinger. They say the g70 is quicker but I can do 4.5 second 0-60 and 12.8 1/4 mile stock in my stinger all day.

excellent car, Kia Stinger with better interior. Unfortunately Is over priced for what it is. Would not pay that kind of money, I rather buy a proper European car any day. If i was looking for non European cars, then Infinity Q50 red Sport or Lexus IS350 F sports would be better value for money and more or less the same quality. I would say they are the real rival for the G70!
