I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

Well I've been waiting, waiting here so long But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know She has a built in ability To take everything she sees And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her. She seems to have an invisible touch yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart. Well I don't really know her, I only know her name But she crawls under your skin, you're never quite the same, and now I know She's got something you just can't trust It's something mysterious And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her. She seems to have an invisible touch yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart. She don't like losing, to her it's still a game And though she will mess up your life, You'll want her just the same, and now I know She has a built in ability To take everything she sees And now it seems I've fallen, fallen for her. She seems to have an invisible touch yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart. She seems to have an invisible touch...

@@lovenotwar598 There was a time in the early 00's where Phil was EVERYWHERE and it got annoying. And his solo acts were considered (what you would today call) "Boomer Music", as all parents were crazy about him. He also supposedly bragged about his awards a lot in interviews. Stupid reasons to hate him, but I guess oversaturation can annoy a lot of people.

Invisible Touch is the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility, at the same time it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. It has a resonance that keeps coming back at the listener, and the music is so beautiful that it’s almost impossible to shake off because every song makes some connection about the unknown or the spaces between people.

This brings back memories. Back in 1987 I was in a high school music class. The teacher had a drum kit in the room for us to try out. I had a turn, and happened to have the Invisible Touch album with me. I wanted to attempt drumming along to a song by Genesis. The teacher said "Yes." Some of my classmates asked the teacher why? "Phil Collins is one of the best drummers in the world," he explained. Why do I mention this now? Not to be arrogant. I was the only one in my class who liked Genesis. The girls were obsessed with Bon Jovi. The boys- AC/DC. I still like Genesis now, especially the Invisible Touch album.

I drove 5 of us to NEC Birmingham, a long drive in my Ford Escort Mark 3. It was my first live rock concert and when they sang Invisible Touch I suddenly felt an amazing happy, invigorating feeling throughout my whole body, an incredible feeling that I hadn’t had before . All the audience were lost in the moment. The concert was great but this was the best. We queued for 2 hours to drive out of the one exit available for thousands of cars - we didn’t care and stayed on a high all the way home = I think it’s improved a bit since then. Saw Phil Collins solo at Hammersmith a few years later, what a talent

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Jose Gabriel Alegre Barrantes, their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello but I think Huey has a far more bitter cynical sense of humor.
