An example of how to make a good song without piling on layers and layers of instrumentation, etc. Genie In A Bottle is a nostalgic pop song for me - came out when I was a kid. Interesting how, in isolation, some of the beats or melodies might sound naff but together, it sounds brilliant. That beat on its own is a bit huh? but is sick holding everything together. Definitely the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. And Christina is an extremely talented singer. Thanks for reinforcing this with the autotune test. Even as a kid, it was obvious even when they gave her this song which didn't quite yet reveal the extent of her talents. Definitely think that the songs on her second album allowed us to really hear her. Thanks for sharing. Enjoying your other videos too. If you are able to receive the RAW multitracks of her song Dirrty, that would be an interesting one to break down.

Fun fact: the guy who wrote it did it in 10-20 min after waking up at like 4 am. Mostly did it on a Korg Triton.

I can see a triton 😂😂I hate everything about the sounds in a triton minus that weird locker sound from the Neptune produced grinding 😂. I'll keep my motif and day. Mannn remember the work station days when you actually had to have talent 😂😂

Hi! Love your Chanel. So fascinating to see how song's are made. Could you have a look at Almost Home by Mariah Carey. I think there's a lot of manipulation on her voice towards the end and wonder if you can find that out. All the best.

some stems are not the actual ones you can tell if you hear the actual song. Sounds like from the demo or a redo for analysis purpouses

Pretty sure that’s the wrong Dove Cameron, the Dove Cameron from Disney Channel, her birthday is January 15, 1996. Genie in a bottle was released in 1999, meaning she would have been 3 when this song was released.

Oooooooo how did you get these? This was the last tune where I liked Christina's voice.
@divinep191212 күн бұрын
You say we've evolved from here when musically we have regressed. Better dound quality far less understanding of making compelling pieces sonicly. For example every lil peice that you would think is nothing has its place in the over all section. That low end on that 909 is perfection everything cradles the texture of her voice. Those harmonies dont sound as breathy or as seductive as they do. We gone so far in taking people with subpar talent and over producing them that we think crap is gold now
