🎥:Inglourious Basterds
Quentin Tarantino was considering abandoning the film while the casting searched for someone to play Colonel Hans Landa, fearing he'd written a role that was unplayable. After Christoph Waltz auditioned, however, both Tarantino and producer Lawrence Bender agreed they had found the perfect actor for the role.

This always seemed weird to me that he said “for the rest of our occupation” as if he didn’t think it would be that long until they were gone. If it were historically accurate, he would not think of it as an occupation, but as an acquired territory of a thousand year reich. I know that it’s supposed to be a meta-commentary and revenge fantasy, where Hans is kind of ‘outside’ of history, but if you take the audience out of the moment, it’s hard to feel the gravity of what’s supposed to be a horribly tragic event.

Let me assure you that you're the only person who felt the character's wording was so historically inaccurate as to be distracting and detract from the scene's impact.

He is not a dumb ass, in fact he is very intelligent and cunning, he knows the war is lost even years in advance, he doesnt even like the term jew hunter because he has no personal problem with jews, he just sees them as a means to an end, to do his job.

@@calumdouglas4916 This is how I came up with my conclusion, any Germans with any information on how the war was really going knew it was only a matter of time before it came to Berlin.
