Personally I would of soldered the wires rather than twist as they will corrode even with the heat shrink and insulation tape, but you can only work with what you got. Good job.

All screwdriver shafts should be square, so you can put a wrench on them.

I understand, You can only work with what you've got, but twisting together wires, & re-using gear oils containing metal shavings & grit? Not the best ideas if you need a repair to last. Don't get me wrong. I love her "can do " attitude. She's a real expiditer!
