The smaller cylinder is fed by the two larger cylinders, if you look at the plumbing. Two stage, where the air pressure is partially increased by the first two cylinders, then compressed the rest of the way by the smaller third cylinder.

Good job but i wouldn't reuse that tank after i've seen all that water poring from it. Who knows how severely corroded it might be on the inside and could blow up. At least check the inside with a camera. And i wouldn't paint the cylinder blocks just to have better heat dissipation.

That's why it leaked (exploded). I have an automatic timer valve on mine. The humidity in Florida is horrible most of the time, and I do a considerable amount of spray painting. I can't have water in my spray guns or hoses. I don't have room for wn air dryer otherwise I'd get one.

It is not unusual for water to accumulate in the tank. That is why it is equipped with a drain valve. You just have to get into the habit of regularly opening the valve, say once a month.

There was SO MUCH water in that air tank... and so much rust coming out of that water... is there anything you could have done to try and add some protection inside the air tank?

I think if you put a rubber gasket between the compressor and the tank, the engine and the tank, it will prevent the sound from resonating.

While welding you must protect hand and neck as well. Arc welding produces some very extream Ultra Voilet light, which might cause cancer. Beleive me I have done made measurements.

Nice job, Lin. However, I'd be very very careful of how much pressure I'd let go into your tank, as with the amount of water inside it and the rust sitting in there, the walls of the tank might be very thin and it could explode on you!

Linguor, I have done the removal and installation of many head of all type. Trick, get two bolts same thread cut the heads off, slot the cut off end, screw into block, then put your head on, then put two of the bolts back finger tight. Remove the two fabricated bolts you made out, and bolt your other bolts back in. Try it some time. Basically you're just making guides to get the head back on not have to worry about you gasget or reed valve or what ever you're wroking on. 🎉
