My brother used a lighter too close to a battery and it exploded showering his eyeballs in battery acid. Despite washing his eyes out with water while the ambulance came, the paramedics also washed his eyes out the whole time on the way to the hospital, the doctors patched his eyes for about a month and gave him a 50/50 chance of ever seeing again. With the patches on his eyes he needed us to hold him and guide him everywhere, even the bathroom. After about a month of blindness, and many more months of daily medicine for his eyes, he eventually gained most of his eyesight back in both eyes but wears glasses now. Fire and batteries aren't a good combination. It's literally a bomb full of acid.
@mikeleonard2038Ай бұрын
@@AlbertSA3 Sorry to hear about your brother and thank you for trying to make people aware of the danger. Even if the battery acid was replaced with just water, it would still pose a ticking time bomb. Water is made up of two parts Hydrogen to one part oxygen. Following what is done in this video, the water would be converted to what is known as Browns Gas. This is much more explosive than just Hydrogen that exploded with your brother. With Browns gas, the flame is very likely to travel back down the pipe and into the gas reservoir in the top of the battery. The resulting explosion will be similar to a hand-grenade, with battery bits flying in all directions at warp speed. The explosion will be even bigger than what your brother unfortunately experienced.

Dude, my husband had a similar situation as your bro. Ok except he had been fixing our bedroom door and got some wood debris in his eyes and reached for the eye drops to put a couple of drops in his eyes. Except when dropping it in he realized he didn't grab the eye drops...it was crazy glue. He had them near on the bed and they were same size bottle/container. It burned too much than he normally would and when he blinked his eye (only one eye got dropped) he felt his eye lids getting stuck together. He immediately flushed his eyes out. But still we called the paramedics and they said upon arrival after explaining what had happened, they said "so what do you want us to do about it we can only give you some saline to wash out" and then advised to flush eyes with the water hose. After about 5-8 minutes of doing their job for them we asked well can you take us to the hospital, like WTH?! SO doctors flushed some crazy liquid that made the crazy glue a bright color so the doctor could take out the crazy glue that was all around floating in the eye socket. He said he wasn't the first to do that. The doctor said a mother put some in her daughter eyes for allergies. Grabbed the wrong ones and into her 2 year old baby they went. Can you imagine??? He had to wear a patch all day for a week or 2. And had to put some medicated eye drops 3 different types...#1 to numb and prep his eye for #2 drops which was a antibiotic, and #3 was soothing for what he had just put his eye through. Drops #2 were the most painful even more than the crazy glue itself. And after 1 month he regained his vision back to the eye. And on a completely different separate occasion he was taking off the cap from the radiator on our car it had been over heating and it popped off spraying hot radiator fluid all over his face and chest. But he was fine a little burned drops on his chest nothing as major like the crazy glue incident. Thank GOD.
@AlbertSA314 күн бұрын
@@christinaleija1627 I remember when Crazy Glue came in eyedrop looking containers and I must have said a hundred times that guaranteed there's people who mistakenly put Crazy Glue in there eyes! Though I didn't know anybody who did. I don't think they package like that anymore and were probably sued a thousand times over it. That's freaky. Glad he's alright and shame on those paramedics for not taking immediate action!

@@eeagle69 no man. i tried a hidrogen generator in a small scale (it light a flame like a lighter does) and when the flame goes in, it bangs so loud and with such power that it instantly made my brother and me leave this project. the flame went it through the tip of a "rechargeable pencil" (i dont know how you call it in english), so basically through 0.5mm hole or something. and we play with fire, gunpowder or other dangerous stuff but this was too hard to control. hidrogen is a really serious thing my friend.

All the batteries I've charged over the years. Batteries from big equipment with multiple batteries. In the dead of winter when I put a big charger on them. Sometimes I let them charge too long while I'm installing a charging system. The batteries will be so hot they'll be blowing out gases and liquid. If these gases have a spark they can explode. I've also seen this just a handful of times over the years of a vehicle overcharging. The battery will be almost too hot to touch. While it's blowing out gases and sometimes liquids. You can generally tell when a charging system is overcharging because the gauge will be really high or the lights will be very bright at night. Overcharging can literally burn up lights and other stuff after 15.25 volts. But most of the time it's the other way around the charging system just fails. And the vehicle just dies on the road in the daytime.

The idea is good and could even be used to make a kitchen burner. For those who do not know, the gas generated in the lead battery is Hydrogen Gas, ultra-flammable, so to make this system safe the only thing missing is a non-return valve for gases.
