Himeko’s death here is what turned Star Rail from a fun time to, as soon as I saw her, the reason I first shed tears in Star Rail.

For a bit of context, Hoyo really likes using expy's (or exported characters) especially ones from Honkai Impact 3rd. Raiden Ei and Yae Miko in genshin are expy's of Raiden Mei and Yae Sakura from HI3. They're somewhat similar characters but exist entirely as their own identity. Star Rail's Himeko and HI3's Murata Himeko is a similar case as well. The only exeception that I know of is Welt in Star Rail, I think its confirmed that the Welt we know in Star Rail is the Welt that existed in HI3's story as well.

6:05 This isn't even her strongest form. This is her base Herrscher form, which is already powerful enough to surface wipe the planet. Also, there is a Herrscher (god) possesing Kiana named Sirin, the Herrscher of the Void. She has the same JP voice actress that plays the Unknown God in the beginning of Genshin btw. When Sirin takes over, Kiana's eyes change to yellow. When Kiana is in control, her eyes are blue. Kiana's strongest form is literally a nigh omnipotent God that can erase things with a thought and create and destroy what are called bubble universes. You haven't seen anything yet. Also, the canonical reason that Welt from Honkai Impact 3rd traveled into the Honkai Star Rail universe is to protect that universe's version of Himeko because he feels that he failed this version of her. There is an entire manga about it called Alien Space. You can also view the broken pieces of this Himeko's sword from the fight in the HSR universe. W video!

Honkai Impact 3rd story is the best story no one knows about. Chapter IX is just the tip of the iceberg. It gets so much better from there. Elysian Realm has some of the best writing I ever witnesed and the guy in charge of that is also in charge of HSR Penacony. Genshin only players think Sumeru and Fontaine is peak story telling but beyond that fake sky there`s a whole universe of incredible stories.

Many of these cutscenes are multiple chapters apart, so there will some confusion and disconnect at time because story and dialogue continues on outside of them.

Any character you see in Honkai Impact, can be essentially deemed as the "original" character. As such, similar characters you find in Genshin or Star Rail are design-exported from here. For the sake of simplicity, consider them as alternative existences. The only canonical existence whom we understand to be the same person, is currently Welt Yang himself.

I remember someone saying they thought the animations looked dated and worse than genshin who reacted and I was like WHAT!! Irl. I've played genshin and star rail, but never HI3, and in my opinion these animations are STILL the best. That's an unbiased opinion. They've aged incredibly well.

Fun fact, there is kafka in HI3 but she is not a playable character, she's a stigmata(stigmata are something like the memories/constellations in Genshin and Starrail). And just like the other comments said, the story in HI3 is very good and it has some bits of information that connects the other hoyo games(especially Star rail since there are characters there that are directly from HI3), if you have any problems understanding just ask, im sure the veterans will aid you on understanding it. there may not be any a Himeko in Genshin, but her Full name is Himeko "Murata", and we do have reference of the Murata, the children of Natlan. so only soon-ish we will know if we will get one by v5.0. This is an awesome time to get acquainted with the animations, with Honkai Impact part 2 around the corner in just a few days. if I may ask, be sure to end your reaction journey on "Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 First Look" (the beginning part, could not see an official vid without the dev talk), and "S-rank Battlesuit Senadina Deepspace Anchor: First Light Preview - Honkai Impact 3rd". Most outsiders coming in to Honkai Impact (came out in 2016 and no, did not copy Genshin, which came out in 2020. I have preempt this because of the many people that I had argued with because they legit think that Genshin was the company's first game) would only take note of Himeko's death, while I take notice of children dying horribly with graphic detail. Why yes, this game murders kids hard.

For me Honkai impact is the top game of Hoyoverse. It's so freaking peak, second is Star rail and Genshin is third on my list

Its main purpose was to sell the game's first S-ranked battlesuit, Kiana's Moonbeam Knight (which nobody has used in a long, long time). The animations only get better over time. Mihoyo loves making expies of characters from their previous games. Kiana is from their first game, Fly Me 2 The Moon_ , while the vast majority of characters first appeared in their second success (third game), _GunGirlZ_ . This is where Raiden Mei, Bronya Zaychik, Seele Vollerei, and Murata Himeko are all from, among others. Still more characters are from this game, _HI3_ . _HSR_ even has expies of some _Genshin_ characters. And yes, the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles is based on God Kiana. Welt Yang is a special case, since he and another character named Void Archives traveled to _HSR_ . Void Archives is a sentient weapon who wants to destroy the Honkai anywhere they might appear, while Welt wants to protect Himeko from a force called the Sky People, who he found out are targeting this other version of Himeko. When a person becomes a Herrscher, they are generally driven by the Honkai's desire to destroy humanity. But someone created room for an exception, Herrschers who can choose to fight for humanity instead. People like Welt, who used to be the second Herrscher of Reason, and still possesses a fragment of that power in _HSR_ . If you enjoy these animations, I can also recommend the PVs (promotional videos) and concerts (there are three). But if you want some background info, you should really start with 'Introducing the Honkai-verse.' While the understanding of the Honkai has changed, the background historical and contextual information is still valid.

Since I see others have covered the stuff I usually do with these sorts of reactions I will step in and give advance warning of the other non-canon animations you will find on that playlist. 'Bronya' is canon adjacent in that it appears to be inspired by one of the HI3rd manga (Azure Waters) - it can be argued it first somewhere in the main story but realistically it really doesn't. It's just a very cool showcase of the tiny badass that is Bronya. Reburn 2 is a concept animation we got at the and of the live airing of the first Honkai Impact 3rd concert. It is also sort of the first teaser for Star Rail. As far as we know it's been rendered non-canon but depending on how HoYo decide to play thing that can actually change.

Funny to call the animations to a "next level" compaired to Genshin, while you watch an animation OLDER than Genshin.😅Can't wait your reactions to the ones made AFTER Genshin. (Or the Part 2 trailers) 😅 Funfact: Genshin is the Spin-off game of THIS game. Reburn isn't part the story, just a concept trailer. Funny that you noticed that Herrscher of the Void looks like the Unknown god of Genshin, because it's true, but you not noticed that Raiden Shogun is here too. Mei not Ei but the same Raiden. 😅
