Thanks for listening! All of the Monstadt battle themes are really solid to me, how Yu-Peng Chen manages to build on ostinatos/vamps for so long. I felt that was the toughest part of this medley, trying to make His Resolution not sound too repetitive, whereas the original always managed to sound interesting. I'm more used to doing straight up covers - they tend to be more disappointing for me though because it's hard to measure up to the original, but I definitely learn a lot from it. Guess doing a medley is a way to change it up, forcing me to be more creative, and be more satisfied with my work without having to directly compare to the original. :)

​@@thejasonpai582 Do you have any tips on trying to bring out the brightness in the strings on TSS? I've been using it recently and getting quite a dull sound from it.

@@hydrant4007 Hmm that's surprising - I thought the general opinion was that TSS was quite bright to begin with, especially if you were to compare to, say, Cinematic Studio Strings. Nonetheless, Fresh Air, OTT, or EQ probably should work if you desired to make it even brighter. In fact I did use Fresh Air on my strings, though attempted to combat my mix from being too bright while mastering. Bright is nice, but can be fatiguing if overdone! Otherwise, is it possible that it's something else you may be attributing to the strings needing to be brighter, e.g. arrangement, mixing? Happy to help! P.s. Feel free to clarify if you felt that generally TSS seems too dull , or if it was an aspect of a specific articulation that felt off to you. Also, did a section of this track/the whole track of mine feel bright/dull to you? That might help troubleshoot as well. :)

But trying to create the presence you have with your strings using TSS has been hard for me as heard in the first 0:00 - 0:20 section. They feel as if they lack body for me, nothing about your work it's amazing! If you have any pointers to achieving that climatic sound heard in the intro would be very appreciated!

@@hydrant4007 Haha cool, no problem was just clarifying to help me understand :) And I'm very happy you like it! I turn on TSS's emulated Con Sordino for more "emotive" sections like the one you're referring to, so you could see if that helps? It's also VERY important that there are other aspects outside of the strings contributing to "body" there (i.e. brass chords, background vocals, piano, even electric bass!), without which you may still feel that the strings alone are thin - but hopefully they did their job in this context. Hopefully that makes sense...

That's a good question... a fair amount of planning, listening to Genshin OST, multiple nights staying up until 4 AM working, one moment feeling optimistic and then the next moment feeling like it's not going well at all, haha. I guess it keeps things interesting (but stressful sometimes) since I don't always know how it'll turn out. I'm proud I followed through in the end though! And in a literal sense, I made it using software (and learning) that I've been accumulating over the last few years 😅

@KiTe_SteelBall The DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) I use is Reaper (which you can actually use for free). Within Reaper, I use a variety of software instruments/effects, though some major players were Tokyo Scoring Strings, Infinite Brass, and Rhodope. More than happy to elaborate more if desired! :)
