(Looks like you missed some short PVs for trailers). Answering questions: The first thing in Arknights franchise was a mobile game and anime came later. Some of your guesses about lore was right - Originium is basically "everything"-stone, used in almost every aspect of modern civilization, from a power source and weapons, to material compounds and currencies. This universe has several "magic" systems (including one based on aforementioned mineral, called "Originium Arts"), but those powers/"magic" and other special abilities are not focus of the plot. The main selling point of the lore - it is absurdly deep and fascinating Worldbuilding, as well as characters that trying to come by in this harsh world. It is more "characters build around the world" rather that "world, build around characters". Therefore if you dive deep enough, this whole thing *feels* like a legitimate living world. Gameplay-wise it is indeed a rich for variety and mechanics, skill-based Tower Defense game. It is really captivating once you had a hand on it, however- It is very *slow* at start. Everything. Getting into the lore, as well as getting through first dozens of tutorials to more challenging and interesting stages. Arknights is generally not really flashy, action-based or fast-paced. This is the case for anime as well. If you set your expectations for some crazy action - you will be disappointed. So.. Don't set up expectations) There are a lot of stuff worth to react to, and official trailers/videos only getting better over time. (We also have mangas too, also came after game) Yep this game has been going for almost 4 1/2 years on global and 5 years now for china. Concept Trailer 1: Models in this trailer were basically in the 'beta' phase. This changes at the 2nd concept trailer, if you look closely you can tell the differences. First song is Monster by Starset (They do a song for every concept trailer so far.) Concept Trailer 2: Ah-Mee-yah is indeed the right way to pronounce Amiya's name. Starset's Song: Unbecoming. We are never alone despite being a relatively smaller community (in global) but we will always be Arknights. :) A little play on words there. Ursus Trailer: Arknights Equivalent of Russia Ursus race is equivalent to Bears. Rhine Labs Trailer: Columbia's (America's Equivalent) Research Faction You got Saria and Silence names right Til-op-sis (p is silent for Ptilopsis) If-rit or If-reet for Ifrit. Liberi is equivalent to Birds Sarkaz is closest equivalent to Demons and Devils but calling them those names is basically a slur. Vouivre is equivalent to a Wyvern. Penguin Logistics Trailer: A logistics company ran by a penguin. Lupo-Wolf Sankta-Angel You can call her Exia (X-ee-ah) like most of us do. Yep Sora's race is still a mystery to this day. Ursus are basically bear people, any bears Liberi are birds in general, Ptilopsis and Silence are owls Vouivre are Wyverns not be confused with Dragons/Draco's Lupo are Wolves which is what Texas is who is a Texas grey wolf I think? Sankta are angel people that uses guns. I will not explain further Forte are essentially cattle likes cows, bulls, etc. Felines are any cats, big cats and small cats Itra are literally based off one specific type of deer species which is what Courier is Vulpo are foxes which is what Franka is Oni is well self explanatory an Oni which is what my girl Hoshiguma is Lung are Eastern Dragons which is what Chen is and finally Sarkaz which are essentially demons or other "evil" creatures from myth or folklore which is why they have a lot of subspecies. Ifrit is a whole different thing tho but won't say because spoilers

Just to help you make the distinction, Ursus can be used to both refer to the race of the people with bear features and also the country (Russia equivalent) that most of those bear-people come from. It can certainly be confusing when there's a country and a race of people being called the same thing.

I sure didn't expect this but sure a welcome one, thanks for the video man, one thing for certain is that the early trailer of arknight are quite slow, sooner or later you'll reach the "animation short" version of arknight, which is quite insane honestly Gameplay wise, its understandable that you're not very interested in it, its quite a different game after all, but if you're interested in the arknight concept itself you should definitely check out their upcoming ARPG game arknight endfield, which is their response to genshin, but with an arknight touch and their signature clean UI. Which i believe you'll like or at least interested in, and for context they put up a technical test not long ago and it was very well received and polished already, and that was still before the beta test, so look forward to it

Things i will vouch for: -Trailers improve over time -Character designs and skins are fire -very f2p friendly -if you're into strategy, gameplay is very satisfying -music is PEAK (Pleeease check out boss themes people recommend) Story is good, but a bit too lengthy at times

BTW Arknights characters don't use their real names but rather a codename they give themselves. Of course some do choose to use their first name or last name for their codenames

Arknights is heavily lore story. You can start watching the anime or just keep watching the trailers. Its very interesting and very dark mostly, tackle in infection, geopolitical wars, racism, etc. literally based most of our world's problems. Deeper lore you get into, you'll get into the more dark fantasy, eldritch horror stuff. Hypergryph has made a very well done intricate world building in the past 5 years and its the thing I feel people should get into first, assuming you can get past the readings... and difficult gameplays. No worries, just keep watching all the trailers until the end, the recent update and keep on speculating about the lore. I feel like its more exciting that way.

The game came first, we do have official mangas but theyre more like side stories and are free to read on their website, and then the Anime! Ursus is both the name of the race (bear people) and the country (fake Russia) Arknights has *a lot* of races. Just know everyone except the Sankta (angel people) and Sarkaz (demon people) have animal features! Yes! It's a strategy based tower defense! You can beat the entire game with the free 3 stars but the number if characters means everyone can have fun strategy! I personally play with an only Lupo (wolf people) team when wanting to challenge myself Kjerag - K-yer-aG Most names of the characters are code names! Like Silverash's name is Enciodes! Blacksteel is a Merc company Arknights has amazing music and is 90% of my play list at this point and they spoil us with skins 😂 The trailers do get much better as they go on both 2d animation wise and 3d animation which is god tier tbh Coral coast is the skin line that's all swimsuits and fan service

welcome to the homeland of 0 sanity club, character enjoyers and also a very loving community that we love the game, indeed as most of the peeps here already commented before me there is a lot of lore, character development and that also applies for the enemies in game, we are coming to the 5th anniversary next year with a lot of emotions, new mechanics and also the fact that the music itself is one of the most decisive factors in game and out of the game, the game is really deep that it looks at a simply peak so trying it out, learning new mechanics, strategies and also very charming characters that you will love or even adore depending which character gets your attentions even in game we have simps for other characters that is funny enough to try out get out of the comfort zone of sandboxes or open worlds gachas that only exploration takes most of the time, take it easy, enjoy the game and whenever you need help the community is always there for helping each others, welcomen to the club big man and enjoy your stay its all worthy! also the Hivemind has been alerted! :D

Info dumps accepted? Let's get started then! The anime is a very recent thing, but they have had a 2d animation team doing smaller trailers and 3d animation for the really big trailers. The game is a tower defense, but think more Fire Emblem (positioning and teamwork between very unique units to deal with enemy/terrain mechanics) instead of Bloons (synergy number-go-up over a very long map). There's a whole part of the AK community that admits they would struggle to finish levels without the help of low-rarity guide makers, because the game gets strategically tough in ways you can't just throw 6*s at, but also so that whatever your gacha luck is you will always have a solution. This all means individual characters don't have as much combat flare as gachas usually go for. That's part of why gameplay is normally only shown in very short flashes, enough for pros to dissect what a new character or stage mechanic might be but never lingering. The trailer playlist is primarily content updates with only a few more wide-reaching trailers. "Episodes" is new main story, most everything else is various events. All events have formulaic trailers, but a few big ones have proper PVs too. You'll start speeding through it especially when you hit the rerun reminders. If you want deeper dives into individual characters, the EP playlist is another ~100 character songs. Yes, 100 songs that aren't even in the game just to expand the character building, Hypergryph is a music company with a free strategy game attached with a free visual novel attached xD There are story beats teased in very early trailers/content that are only just now getting fully fleshed out on the CN server for the 5th anniversary. The writing is planned out very well, and while the translation isn't always the best, it's worth reading and understanding. I could write out summaries for individual events and they would seem like an entire main story worth of great plot, because they kinda are. Getting into the actual story hooks, Originium is everything in Terra, the world of Arknights. The technology birthed from Originium is the only reason society has advanced without being destroyed by the harsh natural disasters of Terra. It is fuel for entire moving cities, it is bullets, and explosives, it enables the "magic" that casters use. It is also the source of incurable Infection, a disease that is a major source of conflict and oppression. Terra is loosely based off real countries in a way that should be familiar to you from Genshin, and hybrids with different animals or mythical creatures (angels, devils, oni, eastern/western dragons) are used to represent nationalities. There no "normal" humans, but all the various hybrid races together are "humanity". Russia=Ursus=Bears, Italy=Siracusa=Wolfs, USA=Columbia=mixing pot but primarily birds, just to name a few. It's a very cool visual language. Rhodes Island (us as their Doctor) and Reunion (the orange dna symbol is their flag) are the two main opposing forces of the main story's first arc, nation-neutral forces accepting Infected from any race, Rhodes working for peace and progress while Reunion fights for Infected rights through violent rebellion. The second arc and many of the bigger side stories get into history of Terra and Rhodes in amazingly interesting ways I don't want to spoil anything about. This worldwide approach also means mispronouncing names is a very old tradition, so don't feel too bad about the struggle, at least you didn't have to try to figure out Eyjafjalla xD Arknights has been improving their quality of life and still has a very good new player experience despite the years of content, so the hivemind hopes to see you playing soon!

I see quite a few people have already made mention of the animated PVs, so I will also add that there is an animated short called Holy Knight Light that is worth checking out, as well as the character theme songs/EPs. One of the biggest things with arknights is that people often joke that the devs are secretly a music studio in disguise. A few good ones to check out first would be Operation Pyrite, Radiant, Renegade, and Settle into Ash. I also want to make not that while Arknights is classified as a tower defense mechanically, its honestly more akin to a real time tactics game where you will often have to make split second decisions, managing deployment, and taking account of the ever changing mechanics of the world. Most people would say the Lore and Story are the games strongest points, but I still say thatthe gameplay is just as much fun and challenging when you get the hang of it. fact that almomst everything in game are free ( skins also free ) and so f2p friendly + peak story and i would say no moblie game can defeat arknights in music ( alway remember this is music company that make game)

Yes you have awakened the hivemind lol jokes aside the global/jp/kr server is 6 months behind cn server, so there will be some content without translations, animation pv, etc. (Cn server is currently on 5th anniversary while global is on 4.5 anniversary event) Trust me the editing skills of the pv will get so much better. Furthermore after 2nd anniversary every CNY/anniv/summer/half anniv will get a 3d pv (except for 2021 summer event). There will also be a lot of lore videos like Exploring Terra. I don't think there are much trailers that display gameplay. Although cn server does post gameplay videos on major game modes (Integrated Strategies, Reclamation Algorithm, etc.), I don't think global does. Also you will see a lot of skins in game because if you're not planning to get all skins, you can technically get almost all skins you want for free
