For her normal attack she sends out a bunch of robins towards the enemy She’s a support, so her abilities grant buffs and for the most part don’t interact with the enemies, which is probably why you didn’t notice them in the trailer lol As for her story relevance, she does play an important role in the story, but it’s not in her trailer as it would be spoilers

Should you ever find yourself in trouble somewhere in the universe and found by Argenti, you will be safe. He might come across a bit much, but there's few characters as genuinely kind and encouraging as him. You better believe that you'll get a praise buff from this man.

The best part of this game is that there are no good or bad guys. Btw Acheron is Raiden, not Ruan Mei.

Glad to see you enjoy Aventurine's voice so much, it's actually his VA's first voicing role and he absolutely delivered every single line. Also yes, he's working with Topaz in what is basically a space version of IRS, also his weapon is not a coin but a dice. As for Robin, while her VA varies depending on the dub, I think all of her songs are sung by one artist, Chevy. And even the trailer song is used in-game as her Ultimate(basically a HSR version of character burst). ... yes, she fights by singing.

When it comes to playstyle, Aventurine is a shielder with a single target nuke for his burst, the falling coins in his trailer is his follow up attack

Acheron’s trailer actually reveals a lot of spoilers but you could never find out unless you actually play the story. Also with Robin and her dress being caught in the wind, it’s a reference to Marilyn Monroe

So with Acheron's trailer, it's important to remember that Blade, Kafka and Silver Wolf aren't villains. They are neutral actually. They do bad things but for a good reason. And yeah, in the case of this trailer, it wasn't actually them there. It was Sparkle using her powers. Fun fact though, Black Swan's voice is Blake from RWBY. Acheron's voice is Beidou from Genshin Sparkle's voice is Yanfei from Genshin

Ratio is similar to Alhaitham in a lot of ways but I would say he’s different in a few very important ways. He’s very emotional and driven by that, and also very driven by his ideals that every one should have access to education and it shouldn’t be hoarded and gate kept by elites. (But also willfully ignorant people and anyone who gets in their own way piss him off) While Alhaitham isn’t really swayed by much, Ratio loses the IDGAF Badge every time (though he is usually trying to hide it)

I love how he like say, "the Raiden expy" but then use "Mei" as "indication" for Raiden expy 🤣 Also, "Aventurine seems like the type to get what he wants" and that is because if he want something, he would just "okay, bet" and no matter what, the Aeon of Luck would turned the universe upside-down just so he would "win"

Clarification for Ruan Mei and Acheron and Sparkle Ruan Mei is more of a Dr. Mei expy rather than a Raiden Mei expy, Sparkle is the Hanabi expy from HI3! Acheron is pronounced like Ack-ker-ron, and she is the real Raiden Mei expy of Honkai Star Rail, to the point that it is hinted in game that she REMEMBERS at least a slight very small tinge bit of Honkai Impact 3rd and that depending on the main character you choose, she will find you familiar. (If you play as the female MC she'll say she reminds you of Kiana, and if you play the male MC she'll say she reminds you of Kevin) HOWEVER it is not explicitly stated, but the description she gives does fit.

Ms. Ruan Mei is the biologist of the genius society! Topaz & Adventurine are the two of the ten stones of their organization, which are high positions. Sparkle is an antihero who loves to disguise. Acheron is the Raiden varient, Ms. Bosenmori Mei Robin is considered as the voice of Harmony, one of the gods. Blackswan is a memokeeper, she observes events in a way.

Oh dont worry about not liking aventurine much at the start, his trailer does feel a little less impactful than the others. Hes like what happened with furina, a lot of ppl didnt like him at first? I think i can guarantee most ppl who say hes their favorite is largely due to the story haha (ofc not everyone but a good majority ig) yes, he and topaz are coworkers Fu xuan is quantum btw!

For the last one Robin is strictly support so yeah that was her ability which the song in the trailer is her ultimate singing lol she's actually really good you'd have to watch the actual like combat showcases they have to see that stuff of how it works

Aventurine is a stone, just like Topaz. They both work for the IPC (space Dutch East India Company), and their boss' codename is Diamond. He was introduced as a bit of a scoundrel, but got a lot of characterization/backstory in the 2.1 story quests, so he became really popular. It also helps that he's a great tank. His ult does put the enemy into a roulette wheel, him snapping his fingers and raining down coins is his follow up attack (after allies get hit a number of times he attacks back and gives everyone a shield). Acheron is the Raiden expy, and she's voiced by Allegra Clark (Beidou Genshin). She was fighting Sparkle's illusions of the Stellaron Hunters (their voices are layered together with Sparkle's). Her ultimate does indeed resemble the trailer, in that she makes everything turns black and white. Probably one of the best ults in the game tbh. When she blocks all the attacks and splits into electric after-images, that's her skill. As far as Robin's abilities, almost all of them were shown in her trailer. Her rising up with the outstretched wings is her skill, descending the purple stairs is her ult. She basically goes into a special state after using her ult where she buffs the team by singing. The song from the trailer replaces the normal battle music (except bosses), and until her ult is over, she dances like she does to the little birds in the trailer. Ruan Mei plays...the Ruan. She is a bit of a "mad scientist" type. Black Swan is a Memokeeper. She basically serves the God of Memories, giving up her physical body to exist as a memory entity in exchange for magic powers. The cards are definitely "space tarot". Nice catch on the hands motif, I hadn't thought about that before. Basically, Jingliu is from one of the big space boats, and they made a deal with the God of Abundance thousands of years ago for eternal life. Humans weren't built for that, so eventually their dark memories drown out the rest and they lose themselves. They call this condition "Mara", and Jingliu is "mara-struck" (Blade is as well). She keeps the madness away by using the blindfold to close herself off from the world. So both characters are related to memories and have many grasping hands in their trailers. Argenti is absolutely delulu, he's great. 120% committed to the bit, spreading the gospel of the God of Beauty. The bottoms of his greaves? (forget the name for foot armor) have roses stamped into them. HSR paired with a some organization somewhere when he released and funded the creation of a new breed of rose. Fu Xuan is a tank, Quantum element. The flipping around animation is her passive (she can auto-heal at low HP), the other explosion on the monke is her ult.

For Dr. Ratio, he personally reminds me of a mix of Alhaithem and Kaveh. He shows both qualities of them two.

I have argenti and from my experience he's really good,i get through most content without breaking a sweat and hes absolutely broken in one of the endgame modes called pure fiction Hes an erudition dps so usually you'll want to use him to clear out multiple waves of enemies He's one of my favs :)

40:05 literally same. I never planned to pull for Huo Huo, but not only was her in-game event really fun and her character super interesting (i also really liked the teal flame aesthetic), but her kit is kinda broken. She's like a swiss army knife support & sustain😂

So breakdown, Miss. Fuxuan, is the divination commission head and is candidate to be general of the luofu, her whole kit is a tank that can transfer the dmg everyone takes onto herself, her element being quantum. Jingliu, was jingyuan's master and former sword master of the luofu, and as you said she is an Ice dps and the most friendliest dps to build currently not needing a lot of crit rate to be effective because she can switch to another form that gives her crit rate. Miss. Topaz is a member of the IPC, Strategic Investment Dept, A Dept Collector, the IPC is what controls the economy in star rail, Sub-Dps type character specializing in single target dmg and her pet numby does all that dmg, her element being fire. Mr. Argenti is a member of the knights of beauty, and an AOE dps specializing in multi target dmg, his element being physical Miss. Huohuo, is a member of the Ten-Lords Commission, and a healer support, with other qualities like cleansing debuffs on allies and giving allies energy regen with an attack buff on top of it, with her element being wind. Miss. Ruan Mei, is part of the Genius Society and you are correct she is somewhat of a mad scientist and she is a support character specializing in team wide attack buffs, her element being ice. Dr. Ratio, is often compared to Alhaitham and is shipped with Aventurine, a member of the Inteligensia guild, he is a single target dps and his dmg comes from the follow up he does based on the debuffs on an enemy, his element being imaginary. Miss. Sparkle, real name Hanabi, is a member of The Masked Fools, she is a support buffer, that gives characters action advance, coupled with a significant increase in crit dmg, she also increases the maximum amount of skill points in your team and recovers 4 skill points using her ult which also gives an attack buff. Acheron, real name Raiden Bosenmori Mei, is an alternate version of Raiden Mei or in Genshin Case the Raiden Shogun "Ei", and a "Galaxy Ranger", she is lightning DPS, specialized in dealing massive amounts of dmg with her ult, that required a lot of debuffs applied to the enemy. Mr. Aventurine is a member of the IPC, Strategic Investment Dept, A Gambler and is often compared to Kaveh and is shipped with Dr. Ratio, he is a Tank specialized in giving shield whilst debuffing enemies with his ult and follow up attacks, and he used a dice as a weapon.

You're right that she's a support lol nice reasoning (she's a tank and dmg mitigator with some team buffs).😅 Jingliu was in fact arguably the best DPS in the game until Acheron came out. Topaz is a sub-DPS and dedicated support for follow-up attack teams. She's part of the strategic investment department of a massive cosmic corporation, along with Aventurine. Argenti will very likely rerun in one of the next two patches, FWIW 😉. AoE nuke DPS. Huo Huo is indeed a healer+buffer (with the best cleanse in the game), now I can't unsee the thing where support characters have cameos by another character in danger lmao (tho there are exceptions to this but still lol). Ruan Mei is just herself, I believe she's named for her instrument (ruan) and plum blossom (mei). Acheron is the true Raiden expy of HSR. RM is also support but it makes sense to her character that no one else is in her trailer (maybe they only do the cameos for sustain characters, but there's an exception to that too so who knows). You nailed it with your impression of her (you could say she does a little cloning 😂). Super busted support for multi-DPS teams. Dr Ratio is member of the intelligentsia guild and yes you've seen him widely shipped with Aventurine. The ship name is Raturine. You can't make this up. He was also given out for free after HSR won best mobile game, but unfortunately the window to claim him closed with the arrival of 2.2. Single target follow-up attack DPS (really damn good too). Black Swan is not related to Jingliu, the hands from Jingliu trailer aren't really in game and are just and illustrative device for her character. Black Swan is Kafka's best friend i combat (tho so far unrelated in lore). Those are tarot cards or very similar, she exists in the realm of memories. She surrendered her body to her path and now exists as autonomous memetic energy able to appear and travel more or less at will. She's become very ingrained in the lore recently. Almost a kind of Dainsleif role. If you watch the myriad celestia trailers you'll see her talking about universal lore in an early one (looong before she released or showed up in game btw). You're not the first to compare her to welkin lady 😂. Damage over time character, co-DPS. Sparkle is Sparkle. She is Elation. She will never give you up, ler you down, or run around and desert you. This is all you need to know. Really busted hypercarry support. Acheron is indeed the Raiden Mei expy (prob why her trailer is 3m long and fucks so hard). Her lore runs so deep, idk if you're familiar with HI3 lore but there is a ton of direct crossover in her myriad celestia trailer, her past mirrors HI3 but with a darker outcome in different circumstances. Any more than that u you'd prob have to play the game. BTW the stellaron hunters (blade, kafka et al) are not so much bad guys as a mysteriously motivated morally questionable faction that is intrinsically linked to the fate of the main character and the story itself. That is in fact Sparkle disguised as those three,the trailer is about her putting Acheron in a deep illusion and her breaking out in layers (superficially anyway). It's safe to say there is a whole lot more to her than you take away from this which is part of her overall appeal in game. And yes, her ultimate turns everything black and white and is more complex than any in the game (3 separate attacks), and it looks a lot like in the trailer with reality shattering. She also briefly transforms for her overworld technique which one-shots non-elite enemies without entering combat. It's almost like she's their favorite lol. Strongest DPS in the game by a pretty big margin at the moment (with lore-accurate reason). Aventurine is named after the stone itself, it's more of a title. He's indeed part of the same division as Topaz, a to group also known as the "ten stonehearts." All of them are named for gemstones, so far we also know of the existence of Jade (releasing next patch), Opal (by name drop only) and Diamond (the leader, not yet revealed). So far all of the stonehearts revolve around follow up attacks, a potentially broken mechanic which can be compared to off-field DPS in genshin (damage out of turn). He's the sustainer of the bunch so far. You'd spot on about him surface level, but let's just say his backstory in game is... deep af to say the least. He's the only sustainer in the game so far with substantial personal damage. The roulette wheel is his burst lol (single target dmg with debuff). Robin is indeed an interstellar pop idol, not only does that song play during her ultimate (burst), but there's an entire (free ofc) album released IRL by her character (performed by the artist Chevy). She's another multi-DPS buff support and literally empowers with song, her ultimate is basically s concert where she doesn't take turns and your team gets free turns and huge damage buffs. You're absolutely right that all of these trailers relate to in game events or lore to some degree. The depth of lore in this game is measured in fathoms. In her case, the trailer is more of an allusion to the deeper story which is not nearly so cliche, she's a very very pivotal figure in the latest update. 35:56 from the comments, you know he’s in some work field with Topaz as one of the “Ten Stonehearts” that Tattoo is a “commodity code”, and I’m pretty sure was burnt into his skin when he was purchased to be a slave by someone from the IPC. He kills his master, and then he meets Jade to get apprehended. Instead of that though, he offered a deal that he can bring more prosperity to the IPC if you free him, so now he’s apart of it. (His story is very well written!)

I can't believe you caught some backgrounds of characters immediately for example Ruan Mei is a crazy scientist.

Elements in this game really change when you cause Weakness Break (which is when you deplete an enemy’s Toughness Bar). For example, the amount of damage when a character causes that break and the effects after said break depends on their element. Fire and Physical breaks are very powerful and deal Burn and strong Bleed DoT (damage over time). Lightning and Wind breaks also deal DoT with Shock and Wind Shear, with Wind Shear being able to stack to deal more damage. Quantum break damage is similar to Wind Shear with Entanglement being able to stack depending on the enemy getting hit to accumulate those stacks (up to five), the effect is removed when the enemy takes their turn for nice one-time damage. Imaginary and Ice breaks both have crowd control mechanics. Imaginary break causes Imprisonment and delays the enemy’s action value (basically sends the enemy way down in the turn order) and Ice break causes well, Freeze (who could’ve guessed), which renders the enemy unable to do anything and skips the enemy’s next turn. Fu Xuan is actually Quantum! Both Imaginary and Quantum are a bit harder to spot since they vary in visuals between different characters, for example of the 5* characters with trailers Imbibitor Lunae, Dr.Ratio and Aventurine are Imaginary, and all of them have a unique way to attack (DHIL's water dragons, Ratio's chalk and, uhm, pillar and Aventurine's chips and dice); Seele, Silver Wolf, Fu Xuan and Sparkle are Quantum (again, difficult to spot. Seele has glitch effects, SW uses pixels, Fu Xuan uses "space"-like energy and Sparkle... uuuhm kicks? She buffs allies with masks and goldfishes.). So yeah, they're kinda difficult elements to categorize coherently 😂.

Topaz (and Numby) are part of this Corp called the Interastral Peace Corporation. Fun Fact Aventurine is also part of the same Corp and they are co-workers. Topaz is a debt collector and goes world to world collecting debts, one of her idles even has her speaking English, Japanese, Korean and Chinese all in 1 line (we love a multilingual queen). She's one of my favs and I def didn't just lose her Lightcone to a Bailu Lightcone..

The animated short, the myriad celestial trailer, keeping up with Star rail Animated shorts is animated shorts self explanatory Myriad celestial are lore related Keeping up with star rail are to show how characters function and their animation All of them are entertaining so worth checking out Subtitles are recommended

Idk if someone already explained it, but in Honkai Star rail we have two "types" for the characters. The element (Fire, Ice, Wind, Lighting, Physical, Imaginary and Quantum) which will define the type of damage they deal and the path they have affinity (Abundance, Preservation, Harmony, Erudition, the Hunt, Destruction and Nihility) which defines the role they play. The first three are supports (Abundance are the healers, Preservation are the tanks and Harmony are the buffers) then we have DPS (Erudition are AoE dps, The Hunt are ST DPS and destruction a mix of ST and AoE). Nihility (my favorite path btw) are a mix of debuffers and dps thanks ti their Damage over time debuffs.

Robin has an entire album, Inside. The song in her trailer is called sway to my beat in the cosmos, and she also sings it for her ultimate and replaces the currently playing battle song (unless it's a boss)

Acheron is the Raiden of this game and yes, when you ult with Acheron it does turn black and white

Topaz is a subdps with buffs for a specific archetype, which are the Follow-Up Attacks, or FUA for short. These are out of turn attacks, usually triggered by meeting a condition or sometimes as an independent entity in the action bar (as is Numby's case). Numby marks an enemy that it will periodically attack, and increases damage taken from FUA by the marked enemy.

Nice to see more people get into the game. When it comes to some of these characters the ones who don't wield weapons(Sparkle and Robin for example) are supports who use the path of Harmony to buff the party. Paths are how the game defines a character's role in combat, for example, HuoHuo is a Healer who follows the path of Abundance while Argenti is Erudition meaning he focuses on multi target attacks. The characters are indeed very facinating and they all have well written stories both in and outside the main plot. Huohuo is my main healer since she's very powefull and Acheron is my main dps since she cuts through everything(she can instant kill enemies in the open world part) abd Fu Xuen is my main tank with the ability to direct 90% of the damage the party receives to her.

Not sure if anyone mentioned but hands could represent "memories" as Swan is someone whos connected to them, and Jingliu is someone whos haunted by the past. Also they released whole 2D animation part without it being cut you can look it up by "Robin your color"- yes it was Robin dressed up in the make up commercial

Topaz is a sub-dps and she's part of 'the ten stonehearts' (yes, they all have names based on stones) of the IPC (like Aventurine). Ruan Mei isn't a Raiden expy she's a biological scientist ¿? of the geniuses society (with Herta) and she's a buffer. The Raiden expy is Acheron, a dps and her full name is Raiden Bosenmori (Acheron) Mei. Dr. Ratio is a scholar, doctor, professor and part of the intelligentsia guild, he works close with the IPC, and he's not related to Alhaitham but they do kinda resemble each other sometimes; he's a dps. Aventurine is a sub-dps shielder, he's indeed a gambler who once was a slave, and you were right about his ultimate, the last part is his follow-up attack. Lastly, Robin is a buffer, she's a singer/celebrity adopted by the Dreammaster of Penacony, her brother is the leader of the Oak Family and she doesn't really have a physical weapon since her strength is her voice. If you are interested in their gameplay hyv releases that in a series called 'Keeping up with Star Rail' and they showcase their abilities and animations. Also there are some animated shorts and animated trailers that introduce better the characters lore so their role in the main story it's less confusing, hope it helps!

I would actually love for you to watch some of the "Keeping up with Star Rail" Videos. It showcases the Characters ingame abilities and is made in a cute Interview Style, hosted by "Owlbert". A cute Owl Character that also hosts most of the Star Rail Livestreams for new Versions. I would especially recommend Trailers of Characters like Robin and Sparkle. Robin because her abilities are very cool but not attack based, so you couldnt really tell from her Trailer. And Sparkle because shes one of the most interesting Characters!

Harmony characters are support (buffing alies' etc) Robin, Ruan Mei, Bronya, and Sparkle are Harmony characters The Hunt characters tend to be damage dealers, though idk how well they work as main DPS.... Topaz, Yanqing, Seele, and Dr. Ratio are Hunt characters. Preservation are shielders/sustainers: Gepard, Fu Xuan, Aventurine, are Preservation characters. Abundance are healers (healing, removing debuffs) Luocha, Huo Huo, and Bailu are Abundance characters Erudition are one of the DPS Paths Himeko, Argenti, and Jing Yuan are Erudition characters Nihility are one of the DPS Paths Acheron, Welt, Kafka, Black Swan, and Silver Wolf are Nihility characters Destruction are one of the DPS paths Clara, Blade, Dan Heng Imibitor Lunae, and Jingliu are Destruction characters.

All of the IPC members are named after gemstones, Topaz and Aventurine both work for the same group. A new character is releasing next patch named Jade who is also part of the IPC. Argenti is also getting a rerun next patch

When they had events where you could use Argenti for free, he basically carried my entire team and made it seem like he could solo everything. He kinda reminded me of Seele a little bit, who was so broken because if you could advance her turn forward, she would never stop taking her turn and would hit like a dump truck. Argenti has an ultimate that charges up, so the longer you go without using it, the more powerful it is and he just deletes everything, since it's Aoe as well. I wish I got Argenti, will have to just hope he comes back around. I think Welt Yang is the first Hoyo character that has appeared in 2 different games, mostly unaltered. (not just an alternative universe version) Also, Acheron and Ruen Mei are weird to me, because I find myself very cautious of them, because although they can be seen as "good guys" in certain lights, they are very much scary because of the power they wield and the fact that they seem to not care what happens as a result of their actions. Ruen Mei literally doesn't care, has no moral compass, and Acheron seems kind of broken, related to both Raiden Shogun and Mei from Honkai impact, but lacking past memories and as a result seems to drift around without a care for the destruction she brings. Very cool things they are doing with star rail characters and I love the range of the characters. For example, you call Silver wolf, Kafka and Blade the "Bad guys" but they aren't really. They have their own motivations and are vilified by the IPC (one of the major factions) but they are not antagonistic towards the protagonist, if anything they're pretty friendly overall. (Just not edgy boy blade) I really appreciate the depth and the elevation of individual motivations and relationships that Hoyo is implanting into this game. Cool thing about Robin; if you get her and use her in combat, her ultimate will have her forfeit her turns to sing her song from the trailer, which plays in real time and will add follow up attacks to every other party member that attacks while she is singing. Also the part where her dress gets blown up is a reference to a famous pose from Marylin Monroe.

Acheron is a debuff class character that for some reason instead of applying debuffs does massive amounts of AOE burst damage and at the same time also does more single target damage than most hunt characters also yeah, she turns everything that’s not red into black and white

You were closer than you thought with Black Swans outfit seeming odd. Its because it is inspired by those victorian/super fancy pajamas. She is the Memory and Dream themed character so her outfit is meant to invoke a refined sleepiness/ready to sleep at any moment

Topaz and Aventurine are part of the IPC 10 stonehearts. Which means they are given a stone for there alias and they need to be high ranked within the IPC Strategic Investment Department. Topaz and Aventurine are both senior managers

One thing to note about some characters in the game is that a lot of the "mysterious" characters actually use aliases/codenames rather than their actual name (which we don't know, or they have left behind in the past). Biggest examples being Blade, Kafka, and Silver Wolf since they're intergalactic criminals. But also Acheron, Black Swan, Sparkle, Topaz and Aventurine are all aliases. This is not some heavy spoiler or anything, just something to keep in mind.

Black Swan is a Memokeeper. She's associated with the Garden of Recollection and their entire deal is preserving the memories of the universe. If I'm inferring correctly, she doesn't have a physical body and is sort of like a living memory.

Good news for you in case you dont know yet: argenti is having a rerun banner in the second half of the next star rail patch! And i would personally say he is very worth getting since he is pretty powerful and very fun to use, especially if you like his design. So if you plan on getting back into star rail you can actually get him soon!

so in the honkai-verse, there's a concept of the multiverse being represented as the "imaginary tree", where each branch and leaf is a similar but distinct universe. it's constantly growing and being devoured by something called the "sea of quanta" which is more like a cosmic primordial soup, and this cycle of destruction and creation will keep going until one destroys the other. this is where the elements of Imaginary and Quantum come from, unlike Genshin's Hydro and Dendro Edit: about Ruan Mei, she's part of the Genius Society, and her field of interest is genetic manipulation. she's obsessed with the divine and wants to "create" an Aeon (this game's equivalent of cosmic gods) from DNA scratch. In contrast, Dr. Ratio (who also features in a quest alongside her) concerns himself with the "mundane" of mankind and tries to cure them of "stupidity" more or less.

Huohuo (her name is pronounce like "hwa hwa" which is two of the same characters for the Chinese name of a mint plant) is not a child in how we see children lol She's from a species that lives to be about 300 and she's canonically 67 years old which'd mean she's just a short adult. She's also the Sucrose "double" lol As you noticed with Acheron looking like Raiden, she is indeed the Raiden "double". In the trailer for Robin, Traveler's name and portrait flashes on the screen briefly (specifically Aether) saying "Traveler here to assist!!!" with lots of Robin emojis lol There's also a very pixelated Genshin Impact desktop icon on the computer screen. The games slightly crossover sometimes with these easter eggs

In Star Rail enemies have weakneses to certain elements. That's how they play a role.

Argenti is fantastic at what he does but what he does is niche as hell. His kit revolves around one purpose: destroying Physical weak content with continuously spawning adds. This includes boss fights. That said, Erudition (AOE) characters are actually pretty important to build. Pure Fiction is a game mode entirely built around them and there have been recent bosses with linked health bars which he'd be pretty good at dealing with too. So situations where he can shine may occur more often. But that's "Future Impact" if you're familiar with the term lol. Either way, he's good enough to build and you'll get use out of him pretty much no matter what if only in Pure Fiction.

Like some other people have suggested, the myriad celestia trailers are worth a watch! Also, I love the version trailers. They contain some spoilers like the Genshin ones, but they shouldn’t make a lot of sense to you at your point in the game.

elements does not have affinity to certain roles, its sole purpose is it deals more damage to certain enemies that are weak to that said element

6:15 elements don’t really matter expect for toughness which is the only use for elements. Paths are what determine the role of a unit. Hunt is single target, Erudition is aoe, Destruction can be both aoe and single target but has a tradeoff and usually tanky, Harmony is a supportive path that buffs 1 unit/whole team, Nihility is all about debuffing and DOT(Damage Over Time) expect for Acheron, Abundance is healing, Preservation is shielding and Dmg mitigation for Fu Xuan

A good way to know more about some characters and lore is through the “Myriad Celestia” videos, which explain more in depth backstory. For example, there are such videos for Dan Heng, Ruan Mei, Sparkle, and Acheron. Besides that the “Keeping Up With Star Rail” series focuses on kit and gameplay for each character, including 4 stars who don’t get a trailer (including Qingque and Guinaifen (the girl in Huohuo’s trailer))

if you log in now (until the end of this version, 2.2) and have completed the very beginning of the game you can get Dr. Ratio (a normally limited 5 star character mind you) FOR FREE in your in-game mailbox! Also Argenti has one of if not the best AOE attacks in the game, i may have skipped him to get e2 Huohuo but he is quite good from what i have heard! Ruan Mei is more like a Dr. Mei expy, Acheron is the Raiden Expy and yes, her ult turns everything black, white, grey and red.

you really need to check out animated shorts, they are really cool, especially with jing yuan and jingliu, and with black swan and acheron

Ratio is probably the MOST KNOWLEDGABLE being in the universe as of now but somehow he doesn't garner the gaze of Erudition Aeon "Nous" It's probably because Ratio as much of an Erudite he is he's not actually pushing new boundries but is a master of what is already discovered. He invents new ways to apply already discovered knowledge. He is not eccentric inventor of "the new" like Ruan Mei for example pushing genetics to new heights.

Argenti is good. I would make the argument he’s made for one of the different endgame modes (Pure Fiction iirc), but I’ve been using him as my main dps and he does fine outside of it. I’d argue he needs supports that help with his skill point usage. Aventurine is a follow-up attack and sustainer. The wheel is his ultimate and the coins falling is his follow-up attack when conditions are met. Robin’s trailer has Morse Code for SoS in her trailer. The song she sings is her ult. She gives an attack buff and some other stuff especially if you pull for dupes. Then everyone gets a turn again. She has a story trailer that’s separate from this one that explains her role better.

One thing I like about HSR is that what you think is gonna be their story is most likely not gonna play out as you think. Is Aventurine a rags to riches story? Yes, but actually no. I think most people are gonna agree with me that he's the best written character of the game as of now. The only thing I'm gonna say is that if Aventurine went to hell he'd probably mistake it for a vacation /j About him and Ratio... The little KZfaq short of the "Final Victor" light cone is uhm. Interesting 👁️👁️. In the story they also have fantastic interactions, but they're very difficult to figure out at the beginning because Aventurine is like an onion and Dr. Ratio is probably one of the only people able to see through the whole mask. So the consequences are that they understand each other yet you are left trying to figure out what their plans and intentions really are. I also recommend watching Aventurine's Keeping up With Star Rail (series that explains the characters' abilities) not only because it explains how he works but because the guest speaker is none other than Dr. Ratio and that has hilarious consequences. Robin is also a case of "Is her story about her being an idol and the Media and fans that exploi her?" Yes, but actually no. I actually find interesting how her story was handled. I'd say her story is, for now, less about her specifically and more to be a contrast for another character's story (which I won't say because spoilers). Also... Watch the Animation shorts. It's really worth it. Specially the "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas". They are beautiful and quite interesting.

you asked yourself this, but im still putting a spoiler warning. robin is basically the "main" good guy of penacony. she figures it all out before anyone, gets locked away like a bird in a cage and then saves the main bad guy from death

The version trailers are a lot like Genshin's and worth a watch. There are also a set of high quality 2D animated shorts and another set of videos that offer a bit of lore (both world building and character lore) called 'myriad celestia' trailers. They don't skimp of the budget for these videos. As a side note, you were correct that Topaz and Aventurine are related. They are both relatively high ranking members of the Inter-astral Peace Corporation's Strategic Investment Department. There are around eight others all named after 'precious' stones (not their birth names) but they aren't in the game as of yet.

Black swan is someone whos part of a group called the Memokeepers who are basically memetic entities (They have no physical bodies) and can exist everywhere but theyre more powerful in a dreamscape. And they are scary. She shows how scary she could be if she wanted to in one of the companion quests.
