This is so sad. She seems a perfect dog for a family with teenage children to run and play with. Her temperament seems great. I do hope she gets that perfect ,loving home she desperately deserves.I would adopt her but sadly I live in the UK.🇬🇧🐶

She didn't get "thrown out." The previous owners couldn't afford the vet bills that came with her having a prolapsed uterus when she had her puppies.So they surrendered her to the shelter so that she could get the surgery she needed and thus her life was saved. I worked for a vet almost 50 years ago, and sometimes we had to put an animal down because the owners couldn't afford the cost of the surgery to fix the problem. Back then no shelter in our area would take an animal like that as they didn't have a vet on staff. In fact, our shelter used the local veterinarians when they adopted out an animal to have them either spayed or neutered. The new owner paid a nominal fee that then went to the vet in the form of a spay/neuter coupon. All the female dogs were charged a flat fee by the shelter for the spay, no matter how large the dog was. It didn't matter if it was a chihuahua or a Saint Bernard. But the vet's cost was higher with the larger dogs, both in the amount of anesthetic used and the time it took to do the procedure. So on some of the big dogs, we lost money on the spays. The same with the male dogs. The cats were a little cheaper for 2 reasons, one, they were all about the same size and two, because we used a different anesthetic. But the females were still more expensive as they had to have abdominal surgery, while the males did not. Not all of the ideas of a pet being a part of the family has been common until quite recently. Some people still think of their pets as just that, pets. They will not or cannot spend an exorbitant amount of money on an animal, no matter how much they love them. I'm thankful that there are organizations out there that are willing to find the money and do the work needed to save these animals. However, if it came down to spending money to save my child or my dog, my child would win every single time.

Sorry - but I’ve rescued dogs for the last 25 years. The reasons people dump their dogs - goes beyond medical costs (which by the way have gotten way out of control!). Yet, my belief has always been if you bring an animal into your life - it MUST BE for the life of that dog!! If you know you will not be able to give a dog the kind of life he/she deserves - if you cannot plan for those emergencies - then do not have an animal. Period!!!! If your human child got sick, you wouldn’t dump your problem on someone else to pick up the pieces! This poor girl had NO business getting pregnant to begin with!! Let’s just start there! In many places throughout the country, low cost spay/neuter programs exist. If this family who did dump Kylie in her time of need - she may have been able to live her life out with this family. In the end, maybe it was a blessing she’s away from that family and someday, hopefully soon - she will find her FOREVER family!

@@alycewich4472 It's extremely irresponsible to get a dog and not have it spayed/neutered. If someone can't afford the cost of doing this, then don't get the animal in the first place.

@@cyndipalmer8061 I agree with you mostly, though in our area the emergency vet clinics and some of the regular ones have been bought up by venture capitalists. Their prices have exploded, even for routine procedures, and they push HARD getting you on a credit plan. It's extremely exploitive as when you're worried and scared you're in no condition to make good financial choices and could end up losing your house.

Why couldn't her family get her back now that she doesn't need medical care?

I'd love to have her too. I'm looking for another doggo. I'm on the otherside of the country though and have a dog and a cat and doesn't sound like she'd fit with us. Right there with you on hoping the right family sees this and makes her part of their home & family.

@@user-ef5ug6jx5n probably because they couldn't even afford basic vet care in the first place otherwise she would have been spayed! And then after the caesarean they would have expected the shelter to pay for the spay too. If you can't afford basic care for your pet then you shouldn't have any.

@@m6666 An emergency C-section is not "basic health care" and why would they want the shelter to pay for the spay? Not everyone wants to mutilate their animals out of laziness. "I hope she finds her forever home (no poor people though! Only rich people are allowed pets!)" Fixed that for you. Oh well, sure the dog was locked in a tiny cage for three years. But at least she didn't have to spend any more time with her owner, who presumably loved her, who was poor. They didn't even want to surgically mutiliate her for their convenience! The monsters!

As she stated, Kylie needs to be an only dog. Her kind visitor already has at least one dog. Still hard to believe that in 3 years they haven't found one person to take sweet Kylie as their one and only. She looks like she would bring so much love and joy into a home.

Never force one animal to like others. This is what starts fights, escalating and inappropriate behaviors, leads to surrendering. So If it is meant to be, it is meant to be. If not, then she has to go to home with NO kids, NO other pets/NO other animals.

You can never make an animal that has been separated from other animals for this long like other animals. You have to have a place to keep this dog separated from the others. First you let the dog get used to you and it's surroundings until it feels safe and secure because what they have been thru is very traumatic. Then slowly over time you let them be closer to the other animals on their terms like a yard separated by a fence and you let time and nature take it's course. Most of the time if done this way the dog will eventually become acclimated and curious about the dog on the other side of the fence and start trying to interact with the other dog. I say most of the time because some never recover from being separated from other dogs for so long. You have to leave it up to them. It's much better for the dog to just be adopted by someone who doesn't have any other pets so that they can give their full attention and love to this one dog so that it knows that it is loved and the center of your attention. They don't have to feel like they need to fight for your attention like many in this situation feel they have to do. Remember that dogs can be very jealous of attention paid to other animals even when they havn't been thru something like this poor dog has. The dog and what's best for it has to be your priority. I rescue dogs and i've been thru this many times with dogs that have been kept in cages for long periods of times. Most of the time i was able to help them come back to a place where they wanted to interact with other dogs and learn to love to be part of a pack again but i've had five cases where after a year it still hadn't happened and i just found them homes where people didn't have pets. Either way they all ended up in good homes with people who loved them and they were happy and that's all that really matters.

SOmemtimes they will drive and meet up with people form the opposite side of the country! I dontknow if this placc does where Kylie is, but alot of shelters have volunteers that drive them to thir new forever furbaby parents! I would inquire about it.WE rescued an entire cat family that someone carelessly dumped on our property- but we are SO happy they did that because they are all fixed, loved and indoors permanently and LOVE their forever home with us! Is this sweetie good with cats? I don't tthink it was mentioned- good thing to know- WHAT A BEAUTY of a dog and such a sweet personality! BLESS! SOMEONE CARING AND LOVING: PLEASE adopt Kylie as your forever loving pet! Kylie is very beautiful. Sadly, the Benton-Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, Washington website shows that she's still there. I love anima;ls and I've been checking on her status every few days, hoping that she found her forever home.
