what a transformation!! Patches went from 42 pounds to 25.5 pounds within a years time. that's just amazing. credit goes out to Wesley the cat and his wonderful mom for helping him lose all that weight.

Yeah it's great he doesn't have any really bad health issues aside from the arthritis due to the weight. I've seen that some cats that were surrendered like this, very or extremely overweight, belonged to an elderly person with dementia or alzheimer's so due to this they would forget they had already fed the cat and keep refilling the bowl when they see it's empty. It's really sad for both parties.

When he can clean his butt you know you’ve made it with him. I inherited a fat cat. Only 24lbs. Took a year and a half to get him to 14lbs. Good job.

Ive heard of cats gaining a lot of weight very fast when their owner reaches a certain age and legitimately cant remember feedings so they just keep feeding them over and over This cat has the energy of one of those stories

I'm sure patches old family would be so happy watching this, knowing he's in a much better place. Obviously they overfed him, but at least they were aware enough to know their mistake and realize they couldn't fix it. Props to them for giving patches a 2nd chance.
