My wife and daughter brought a male Pit home from the shelter. I wanted nothing to do with him at first. After a few months we became best buds and still are 5 years later. Pits are the best. 😁

My Mum lives with us. When I first had the idea that I wanted a dog she was not very into it. Forward 1 1/2 years later. We now have three dogs and my mum loves them to pieces.

Wrong. Dogs almost universally prefer men. They, like children, know who is the boss. Only exception if a man decides to be a simp beta male. Dogs hate that.

Omg Mr. Big Swanson. He’s perfect. Idk why but my pitties loved balloons too. We had a blue fawn named choppers that weighed well over 115 lbs. When people saw him with a balloon, they’d just laugh and say “omg he’s so gentle, never seen a pit bull act like that” well yeah, cause he’s loved and he’s learned. Wanna see a vicious pit bull??? give them a balloon and see for yourself. lol

That comment about coming home to your dog happy to see you after a hard day is so, so very true, its the best therapy in the world and true happiness right in that moment. I've always had pets, dogs and cats, and the loneliest week of my life was when I had to put my two dogs down in the same week, from old age ad illness, it was devastating ad I'll never forget coming home and not seeing them greet me with their unrivaled enthusiasm was the worst feeling in the world.

I've have adopted dogs and cats since college. When my husband and I went on our first date, he sat in the back seat while my girl sat in the front passenger seat (AAA safety rated seat belt). and my husband didn't mind. He loved how much love I had for animals. 20 yrs later, all our dogs and cats prefer him! Although I'm jealous, I'm also happy because he gets to have the joy of having the love of our dogs and cats - it's the best things in the world. I love my husband and animals so much, how could I not want them to love each other.

You NEED to follow The Asher House! Lee Asher has an amazing sanctuary in Oregon. :) Someday when he allows visitors; you should take Swanson to meet him. I will tell him about this video. Swanson is just adorable. When I went to my husband's house for the first time to meet his Airedale (our Curly dog), Curly freaking ignored me! This went on until my husband's ex-girlfriend left fruit Lifesavers in the mailbox. I fed them to him and after that he was my dog and I was his Mom! :)

We had a cat who was just like this. When he was about seven, my husband rescued him. I came into their lives about a year later and it took eight years for that cat to cuddle with me! He adored my husband. Me? Not so much.

Loved your story! Be so careful with balloons, when they pop, pieces of rubber can lodge over dogs esophagus, then they can't breath. It happened to a friend of ours and it was not a happy outcome. Bless you for adopting Swanson. He's adorable.

It's truly the best of all possible worlds when you adopt an animal, and the whole thing is like kismet: perfect! You and your husband have opened up a whole new world for this dog, and he is loving it. I love this story. And Swanson is one handsome hunk! He is everything a pittie should be.

I have 1 pit and 5 chihuahuas and all are rescues I foster failed with. Rescues and Pitties are the absolute best. My pittie, Kelly, is way sweeter than any of my chihuahuas. I love Swanson. Such a character with personality plus and I’m so happy you give him such a wonderful loving home.

Awesome!!! We took in a stray and abused pitbull. Was leary of about the decision... He's the sweetest dog ever! High maintenance for the affection and jealous of the chihuahua and terrier mix... Best decision ever made to take him in. Wonderful loving dog!
