Travis is absolutely adorable I love watching you go rock hunting with your boys I'm a mother of five boys and we go rockhounding all the time. I just love it.

Very cool. Just found your channel have been a rockhound since a kid in Australia and only just getting back into it. We take our kid out too and these are great adventures for sure. It's that great lure and anticipated excitement when you're waiting to see what the cut reveals. Will sub.

Nice finds, the bigger crystals , in the, last geodeis a combo of Heulendite, with some bigger crystals of srilbite

Really beautiful pieces here. Each one tells its own story. So many cool colors, beautiful crystals. Thanks for sharing. I would have to say the best part is seeing your son's excitement after seeing the insides of some. Worth it right there, I love seeing that expression on my daughter and son faces.

We watch all the cutting so at least turn the rock so the inside shows. We don't care if it's good or bad we just enjoy the process.

That's awesome! You are going to want to go to the cape split area. Its disneyland for rockhounders. Beaches in this area are called Ross Creek Beach, Scots Bay Beach, Blomidon beach

Just a heads up you should be more careful with that blade. The continues diamond blades won’t cut skin but the segmented ones will if not careful. Cool video!

Beautiful finds! I'd be curious to see how the "plain" ones look if they were slabed and lit from behind to show the color variations (If the material is translucent)

Nice to see father son enjoying the same hobby. May I suggest you and your son, at least your son wear safety glasses when cutting stone. Better safe than sorry.

Definitely need a more safe way to push those through the saw, seen too many people lose fingers and thumbs and they always thought they were safe from that

With the blade I was using in this video, yes it is a bit more dangerous but generally with a normal smooth diamond blade there is very little danger. I've been doing it so long I know how to cut using the tile saw. I teach my boys the proper technique. Thanks for watching!

Jason, very nice. Have you polished any of those in the past and, if so, do they take a consistent, even polish across the surface?

I polished the purple amethyst nodule and it took a great polish over the amethyst surface. It was a little less consistent over the white material which i think is zeolite so it made sense. The zeolites take an pretty good polish but not as good as chalcedony.

Who would have thought you could find geodes / thunder eggs in Nova Scotia. Did you need lamd owner permission to hike to the beach where you found them? All interesting specimens ...but the " big" one was really spectacular....all those formations inside. Wow

We hiked through crown land until we hit the stream then hike downstream to the beach. We didn't cross private land, although the land owners in the area have given permission before, but on this day the were not there. It is summer cottage land.

@@sydneyread4449 my dad is from Margaretsville. I started my rockhounding journey there as a kid there spending many summers on that beach. You can find some nice zeolites there.

Hi there, and welcome to the channel!!y personal preference for cutting geodes is by using a slab saw or tile saw.

How do you determine how you want to cut them without the use or sonar or even sound wave technology so that you can get the best representation of the stone?

Most of the bog ones were oval.dhaped so we just cut them along the elongated direction.

You're right, it was an oversight and we usually so where masks during lapidary work. A wet tile saw is probably the most forgiving with 99% of the dust suppressed by the water.

Not this particular saw no. I could try to rig something up but I'm looking at acquiring a slab saw in the near future which would have a vice.

You know normally we do but this was an oversight on my part! Always where safety glasses and respirator and ear protection when cutting rocks!

I'm not a huge fan of mineral oil. I prefer polishing with grit.

1st things 1st, you shouldnt let your kid near the cutting machine nontheles cut stones.

Completely disagree. This machine can be used safely by kids under proper supervision while using the proper PPE.
