Yes, Kathy, huis wife, helps both Goeff and Voice Play with their costumes. Geoff has a much wider range than most people think.

This is my moms favorite song. Shes 99 and in a nursing home now as she has dementia and is no longer able to talk and rarely has a reaction when she is spoken too. When Geoff first released this I took my phone up to her room and played this. My mom had the biggest smile and started to bob her head because I know she recognized her favorite song. She even pointed at the phone and mumbled a few word's. This has become my favorite rendition of this old song and I'm glad I could give my mom something she would enjoy. We play it every week still and share with others in the dining room sometimes.❤😊

It is a blessing what the power of music can do for those with dementia. I had a similar experience with Geoff's cover of Saddle Up with my Dad. I left Geoff a ridiculously long comment when that video came out but it was such a miracle when my Dad, who was suffering ever worsening dementia at the time, not only recognized Saddle Up, which was a favorite of his, but remembered the words and sang along. May God be with you & your Mom on this difficult journey.

Thanks for your reaction and appreciation for the talent of Geoff and Voice Play(and yes his wife Kathy Castellucci, their production manager too). Geoff's range and ability to go high to low rapidly is incredible (my favorite examples are: "Ain't No Sunshine", "I See Fire", and "Headless Horseman".)He has really developed the personalities of his backup singing clones over time even giving them names: "Jeff", Goff and "Geoph" as a humorous nod to the frequent misspelling and mispronunciation of his name and the one in the duster is "Darryl") and given them solos in his recent "I See Fire".

Kathy is Geoff's wife. They've been married for 16 years. She and Geoff came up with the costuming. Rick Underwood did the makeup and Eli created the backgrounds. You can always go to the description of Geoff's (and VoicePlay's) videos to see the credits for each one.

One thing that I love most about his solo covers: he will do subharmonics, but it's more common for him to keep the lower/lowest notes in chest. This is 100% chest voice. He just has an amazing ability to get, as one or more other reactors put it, freakishly low in his natural voice. For fun, you should listen to one (or more) of his narrations.

It's usually just Geoff and Kathy on set when they are filming Geoff's videos, unless they are doing more advanced stuff with heavy makeup/prosthetics and moving cameras. She usually helps him with giving him ideas for costuming that he picks out, helps him building the set, helps him with getting the costuming to look proper, runs the still cameras, helps him with getting the lighting right before filming, helps him keep all the details and schedules in order etc... Sometimes she will be on camera as well, like in Monster Mash, but that's rare. She's his and VP's production manager and office manager, so she takes care of all the practical stuff these creative boys can't keep track of because their brains are full of music 24/7 😂😂 On the more advanced videos Eli (the bald rock tenor from VP) might help him program the lighting design or in the case of this video create the digital background, there will be a small camera crew running the steady cam, they might have a director from Pattycake (Layne from VP and Tony who is a former VP member) and they might have a makeup artist or two.

Geoff is a master storyteller. Especially with his solo work, there is definitely a theme or story. Your mom has good taste. The song was released by a number of people including Johnny Cash, Frankie Layne, Marty Robbins and the Highwaymen. Apparently it’s also used in either a cartoon or anime called Ghost Rider as well as a movie with Nicholas Cage. He releases a new Halloween piece every year. This was the Halloween piece for last year because it is ghosts. It is not always Halloween but it usually has something to do with the season. He along with the rest of VoicePlay really love Halloween. It is Kathy who is the manager for the group as well as his partner in every way. You can always see who does what in the credits and he always credits everyone who’s involved - including the “beard wrangler” in this one who is Rick Underwood. Rick works part time for PattyCake Productions which is owned by the beatboxer and Tony who used to be their baritone. Rick does most of the intricate make up for VoicePlay and also works for PattyCake Productions which is owned Layne & Tony. Geoff’s most recent release was I See Fire from the hobbit movie the Desolation of Smaug written by Ed Sheeran. In that one, he actually sings in the higher register as a solo and it is pretty freaking impressive. One of my favorites of his has always been the one from the first hobbit movie which is Misty Mountains Cold. He is dressed as himself and three other dwarves and in the recent one they have traveled on their way. He was able to use most of the same costumes just rearrange slightly and the make up artist actually kept the same hair pieces and beard pieces. I would recommend watching Misty Mountains first and then I See Fire. He did Misty Mountains a few years back and you can really see the progress he’s made in his artistry. A lot of reactors when they first see it do not realize that these are four separate variations of the same person. 😂 On his personal channel, Geoff mixes it up and does a lot of covers of older songs. For New Year’s Eve he did Till Then which was released by the Mills Brother in 1948. A lot of the songs he performs on his solo channel are either his favorites or Kathy’s favorites. If he’s singing into the camera with stars in his eyes, he is always singing to her because she’s usually doing the camera work🥰.

Glad you liked it, this was an old song that I was familiar with and was very excited when Geoff let his patrons know that he was working on this. Yes, it is his wife, Kathy Castellucci who is the production manager for both Geoff's solo work and the VoicePlay videos. They first met when she came to his choir class (she was the daughter of the director) as part of an acapella group that did a demonstration for the class. They were friends and sometimes worked together at different venues throughout the Orlanda area for quite a while before they started dating and just recently celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary. You might be interested in checking out the video that is on Geoff's youtube page (along with the music videos) entitled "Hearing Loss (A True Story)" which goes into how they dealt with Kathy having to give up performing after suffering severe hearing loss. It's a heartfelt video, but Geoff and Kathy also lighten it with some welcome humor as they detail the journey they went through. One of the things I love best about being a patron for both Geoff and VoicePlay is their 'Behind the Scenes" videos, which are primarily filmed and compilied by Kathy. For "Ghost Riders" in particular, you see how they went through and selected the different wardrobes for the main character and his 4 ghost companions, and the makeup that was done by Rick Underwood.

Kathy is his wife of many years, and manages him and VoicePlay, keeping everything running smoothly. Many people have recorded this song; the version I remember was from the 60s, by Frankie Laine. A few minor changes in this one apart from Geoff doing his own thing with it. I love how his clones appear to be developing their own personalites now as well as their own voices. :)

Listen to your mother, young man! 😂 This is one of my favorites of Geoff's, especially for that Yippee-i-ay chorus. Something about the layering gives me chills every time. I love his bass as much as his baritone and tenor range. He's said if he's going to do a cappella, he'll do it with VoicePlay. So his solo work is a chance to play with instrumentation. He plays piano and uses plug-ins for everything else. Headless Horseman is a good example of Geoff singing in character, as he emulates Thurl Ravenscroft, legendary bass probably best remembered for the Grinch Song and being the voice of Tony the Tiger (they're grrrreat!). Ain't No Sunshine and Way Down are polar opposites, emotionally. The latter is an Elvis/JD Sumner cover, and taught us to keep watching until the Patreon list scrolls, which is good advice for VP videos, too.

Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff Castallucci. Would you please do a reaction video to Geoff's new solo cover of Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash ? Geoff actually rented out the entire prison for filming this. It was only him & his wife Kathy was the person filming it. Geoff's cover is better than Johnny's original.

Geoff is quite a great storyteller. 🙂 As you named his stuff from "The Hobbit", I'd advise you to check (in chronological order) the two songs he covered from that trilogy. The first one is "Far over the Misty Mountains cold", from the first movie ("The Hobbit - An unexpected journey"), from (if I remember correctly) a couple years ago, and the second (and his most recent release) is "I see fire", from "The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug", second movie in the series. I confess I can't wait for the THIRD one, which I really hope will come sooner or later 😁. You'll not only experience his storytelling, but also how much he grew in this period of time. 🙂 BTW, both videos have the same characters (4 of the Dwarves involved, namely Thorin Oakenshield, Fili, Kili and Bofur), with literally the same makeups (hairs, beards etc.) and outfits (some weaponry and details were added in the latter one). 🙂 Other ones you might like to check out: - Man of constant sorrow - The Sound of Silence - Shenandoah - Ain't no sunshine - House of the rising sun - High and dry - both the "miners' songs", meaning "16 tons" and "Big Bad John" 😁 - The Headless Horseman ...and pretty much whatever you choose, there's no "bad" stuff in his channel 😁 See you next time!

You should do Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold fist and then I See Fire both from the Hobbit movies and you will see that he is in the same costumes but sitting in a different order and videos are a couple years apart i also recommend 16 Tons, House Of the Rising Son, and Ain't No Sunshine but you really can't go with Geoff or Voiceplay i also recommend for you next Voiceplay to do If I Were A Richman/Girl another son you will get a taste of his range
