It’s really sick that he’s ACTUALLY showing off more of his actual chest range, the fact that he only would ever go down to an A1 in chest was holding him back from really showing people what he can do altho it could be possible his voice would be higher at times, plus he sounds awesome when doing it, and as well subs and growls as good as ever

@White2530
@White2530 3 жыл бұрын
@@chrismartinez144 that is correct, but when u look forward in time he’s only been doing more subharmonics when hitting his G#1’s and lower and he’ll always go to a growl on a G1 and lower, and not to say that it’s necessarily a bad thing but people love hearing chest voice low notes, including myself obviously, it really ends up showing people how low they can go normally, but Geoff on his channel always said he normally only hits A1’s, as time went on after that video it seems like he’s more comfortable doing G#1’s and lower to an F#1, and that’s the farthest he’s ever shown us and this was when time went on after talking about his A’s, so that’s basically what I meant by that
@chrismartinez144
@chrismartinez144 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm did he stop doing super low chest notes at some point? Like did he stop doing chest G1s and G#1s at some point? Hmm my understanding (from watching those How to Sing Low videos of his) is that his chest voice on a typical day bottoms out at an A1. the songs nowadays where he does chest G1s and F#1s are not representative of his range on a typical day. And many, many years ago when he was doing chest G1s in songs like White Christmas and the Disney on Broadway medley, I don’t think that was representative of his range either. chest notes beneath A1 have always been uncommon for him. that’s because those notes have always been outside of his range on a typical day. At least that’s my understanding It is always cool to hear him doing his lowest chest notes, I agree. It’s quite impressive!

The top note is done by Elizabeth Garozzo, who is the former Soprano 1 of Voices of Liberty/Voctave (an _a cappella_ group from Orlando, Florida just like VoicePlay). The high note is an E6 - yes, crazy high. (That’s the same high note as in Phantom of the Opera.) Garozzo in this medley plays the role of The Voice. So, all of those mysterious, atmospheric head voice parts are done by Garozzo (not just the E6) Interestingly, Adrianna Arellano demonstrated that she can also get this high while fooling around behind the scenes, check it out: m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fLyTntdi0t6-Z4E.html

I think we'll get an F1 chest before a C#1 subharmonic. I think he wants to be confident that he would be able to do the subharmonic consistently before putting it in any songs. If he isn't able to do the F1 in chest live, he could technically do it with a subharmonic (that sounds freaking crazy, faking an *F1* chest as if an F1 subharmonic wasn't impressive enough) but that's probably not what he wants. Feel free to discuss below what you think is more likely!
@Marcell0Bass
@Marcell0Bass 3 жыл бұрын
I would say we would get some lower subs from him before an F1 chest. Cuz strictly speaking his subharmonics don’t go as low as you’d think considering he has a daily G#1.Most other bass singers that are at a similar level in chest as Geoff can get down to C1/B0 area so I think he already can but he’s not using it yet.

Even if you're being skeptical and conservative with your definition of range, Geoff's range would still be G1-Bb4 in pure chest voice (notice how easy the G1 at 10:40 is and the Bb4 at 23:22) which would still be over 3 octaves, and with just a slight bit less skepticism and conservatism, it would be E1-A5, over 4 octaves (his E1s are just insanely awesome sounding and he already said A5 isn't too challenging.) These highs are taken from recent videos so it's not like his voice has gotten deeper from those high notes. This man is simply incredible.

He said himself that he lacks resonance below D2. So he has got almost an octave of not usable off mike chest range. That's not very technical. Also, imo, his singing position is a bit too "closed". Geoff doesn't open his mouth enough to make the sound come out freely most of the time, I'm not sure why thought. This is probably the reason of why he lacks resonance compared to, for example, Avi, who can go up to G1 chest lowest, but can produce loud AF B1s compared to Geoff, who can go up to F#1 but lacks resonance past only D2 from his own words. I'm not trying to say that Geoff is a bad singer. I just wanna say, that he's not the most technical one, but he knows it and tries to compromise it in any possible way
